I'm not sure, if I like FF to be taken out, but we'll see. The fact. that you had to pay attention to your teammates and not accidentely killing them, was something good in Halo, but yeah, it was abudes, by all those, who wanted the power weapons...

Yeah I know what you mean, but so many idiots play this franchise. I had to do this all the time back in the day.

Was it really abused? I feel like they're throwing the baby out with the bathwater on this issue.
Oh, grenades are spammed: make it so you can't pick them up!
People betray for power weapons: make betrayal impossible!
Ranks lead to cheating and boosting: remove any sort of visible rank possible!
Great/experienced players know how to time weapon drops and powerups: put that shit on a roulette wheel and give everyone a waypoint!
Spawn traps are frustrating for the the team getting donged: change the spawn to random all over the map!
It's hard to play as a team and push to get rockets/sniper/etc.: give everyone the opportunity to "earn" their own power weapon!
It's so boring to sit out for 3-5 seconds after being killed: just mash X to instantly get back into the battle!
Capture the flag is so confusing: no more dropping the flag, add waypoints, Steitzer should yell at you!

How these decisions sound fun to so many on HaloGAF is even harder to understand than the actual decision making process that has led to Halo 4 being COD.

I forgot about nade pick up. Yeah, this is kind of overkill, but how else are they going to become CoD?

I really like this decision. I hate nade spamming, especially in Reach.

Each to their own I guess/

Good work on THC Series 2 Cyren and Co. Keep it up :)

The point is when you change literally everything about the game that made it iconic and stand out from the rest of the FPS deluge you end up with something that's just more noise in a loud room. I'll still play Halo 4 more than any other game I currently own. Hell, I'll probably discuss and debate Halo 4 more than I'll play 85% of the games I own, but all of these changes combined do not feel like Halo to me.

That being said the game visuals look fantastic, the sandbox of weapons and vehicles looks interesting, and finally we're back to better environmental physics (jump height, speed, etc.).

Did you guys who are complaining about Steitzer complain about "flag dropped, flag taken" in Halo 3?

That actually didn't bother me.

In regards to friendly fire being off... I don't care really. My other gaming love, BF3, has FF turned off by default and people aren't that retarded; they still try and get clear shots - otherwise they've just wasted valuable ammo. I don't see it being much different in Halo...

Its appealling to the casual players. In halo 5 343 will remove shields because "it takes too long to kill someone"

Haha, that was great. And of course you got booted, nothing new to me... The system was shit anyways. People betray you 3 times = no boot option, you betray ONCE back = insta kick
and banned temporarily from matchmaking, if you have luck
.

Well not really abused, but the betrayal system was unreliable and therefore shit. And you have some good points and I agree with most of them.

This may sound rude, but I feel like Bungie didn't care too much for Halo Reach. They just wanted to finish the game and start with something new, IMO.

I still love Bungie and I can't wait to see what their new game "Destiny" will be like.

Balance this out: friendly fire caused betrayals (i.e. you screwed your team in more chaotic situations), unsupportive play from players (i.e. killing for to steal weapons) and booting system that was broken (i.e. being betrayed ten times from the same guy, you shoot ‘em one time and your booted). All those factors also played a role in huge amount of quitting, which next to other huge problems in Reach caused the game to suck so much.

It is really not that difficult to understand why people don’t mind that friendly fire is gone.

Not too much more. It's definitely falls between the two; at least more powerful than Halo 3's Carbine. I was playing a couple of games in Halo 3 recently and I was trying to use the Carbine and I was having a difficult time. I felt far more confident using the H4 Carbine.

Needler Ranking: H4 Needler > H3 Needler > Reach Needler *huge gap* H2 Needler

As long as you can turn it on in custom games, I don't see a big deal.

Lumping all these together is just dumb. People have been complaining about the betrayal system, grenade spam, and starting weapons since H3 before COD became what it is today. And, no FF is great. Lost count of the times when I watch a saved film and see someone behind me shooting me in the back because they can't aim correctly and point the reticle at the dude in front of us instead of my back.

It really is enjoyable putting the disk back away in its case - your onto something there. Best Halo game ever?

I saw your post about Halo Wars - and I want in!

Haha 343 giving options for customs?

Dude, just stop. Your trying way to hard to be funny. We all understand that 343i has made some "questionable" decisions regarding gameplay and options.

I love BigShow's post because he actually compiles legitimate arguments and rebuttals. You and a certain unnamed members just like to make quirky one-liners and it's just fucking annoying.

I definitely did. It made me not want to ever play CTF. I didn't have an issue with flag juggling itself though, just the annoying fanfare that came with it. It gave away their position but kept them moving faster than if they were always holding and they still had the option to defend themselves. I don't see much of a difference between that and the new CTF rules - moving faster, position always known, you can defend yourself, while being yelled at by the game. So you can't whip out rockets from your back pocket - boo hoo. I'm probably still not going to play CTF anyway aside from a launch tryout, but I get why not having the option to play traditionally is annoying. There are options I want in other areas of the game that I probably won't get, too.

when you change literally everything about the game that made it iconic
I can't think of ONE iconic thing they've changed and you are stating they've changed ALL the iconic things. I suppose it depends on how you define iconic. I never saw friendly fire as a quality iconic to Halo. If they took away the grenade button, or got rid of the shields&health system, that would be changing something iconic.

But hasn't it been nerfed since you played it?

He seemed pretty calm to me. And like you said, it's the internet, we don't need anger management because someone did something like use ALL CAPS. kylej's a big boy, he can take care of himself.

He got upset over someone's joking criticism. I'd say that's pretty dumb.

This is how I feel about ctf in H3 as well. I actually like the concept of flag juggling -- allow more competent players a more risky maneuver that requires more concentration -- but the announcements are just too much.

Where did this friendly fire info come from? Does it extend to grenades and rockets? Vehicles?

If I'm being assassinated and my teammate in a Ghost boosts into me, does this kill the guy assassinating me and leave me unscathed?

Cheers brah. <3 xox

Anyway, I've tried to make assessments and explanations of why I don't like things before, but it just ends up with people getting annoyed that I have an opinion different than theirs, so I don't try to explain myself anymore.

If you think making stupid, baseless assumptions wrapped in rude, snide comments is acceptable, then yes, I would say our opinions differ.

But sometimes people don't realize what they're doing because of all the other nitwits doing it around them. They think it's the norm. But people grow wiser, they change. You may be going through such a transformation.
