Tomorrow will be a long day for a lot of people. I've been through about 5 hurricanes. It's always good to see the sun come out afterwards.
Get some rest tonight, I imagine the streets will be closed to cars except the main roads.

Nature man...

My mom works in Coney Island, she drove early in the morning. She's a director at a nursing home. She's fine, fortunately.

But her entire parking lot was submerged 6+ feet under water. Her 2012 Volvo is a total loss, as are all the other cars on that lot. The facility is located right on the water, so the tides had no problem reaching the car.

Seriously? Just because you may not have felt it from your position doesn't mean this was an insane situation and the largest storm to hit NYC in generations.

Cleanup and recovery efforts are going to cost incredible amounts of money.
That was really poor wording on my part, and I'm sorry for that. I just meant that everybody around me seemed to be getting excited for Sandy despite it not feeling particularly different than other storms from where I am. I didn't intend any disrespect.

Anyone else watching that CBS stream freak out when they showed that guy getting taken away by the water?

It was old footage showing the dangers of being outside taking pictures, but damn I thought that dude just got swept away.
