New Castlevania: Mirror of Fate trailer (3DS)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=40-_qk9-CAk

What better way to kick off this Halloween with a new Castlevania trailer, complete with intense whip combat and extreme platforming apparently, it looks like pretty basic platforming to me but hey maybe i'm just not radical enough to appreciate the extremities of rather automatic looking grappling, seriously though it's coming along nicely, wall jumping is definitely within the realms of extreme in my book.
There's also some plot related points to draw from this trailer for the entire LoS saga, quite a bit of Gabriel Belmont embracing his role as the dark lord, Gabriel himself seems to be the fourth playable character alongside Trevor, Simon and Alucard which means a whole lot of intense whip action, except Alucard I guess, he probably makes do with stylish sword slashing.

But wait there's more! a lot more in fact as an EPIC 20 hours of gameplay awaits, well I guess that keeps in line with the surprisingly lengthy nature of the original LoS, how they will go around doing this i'm not sure but i'd be lying if I felt they can pull off a full 20 hours of new content that doesn't get repetitive, i'm willing to be proven wrong.

The game is looking a fair bit better though, hopefully the delay is doing well to iron things out as this could be a very solid game.

Cheers to SDZeta for bringing the new trailer to attention in the older thread.

Looking forward to the game, Super Castlevania IV was my favorite of the older games so it's nice to see it getting love over SOTN.

Looks amazing. Improve the framerate and this is right up there with Icarus and Revelations as the best looking game on the system.

I like it in general terms but did anybody else get the impression that it rips off 2D prince of persia?...

That was a so-so trailer (EXTREME PLATFORMING) that didn't push me over the fence at all. Still interested though.

I think, I will ....buy this!!

totally different game, bu I would so love a Ninja Gaiden Dragon Sword 2 on the 3DS right now

Looks to have a nice variety of environments, and that underground cave area looked pretty neat.

I have a reasonable amount of faith in it. Mercurysteam has tons of good ideas, LoS just had a severe lack of polish and play testing. The delay for this game may bode well. I would hope.

Sweet.

This is the only 3ds game pre-ordered , and ive had it pre-ordered since june..too bad it got delayed.

ALtho i cant complain since tsilon got it for me for 20 beans...good deal!

Showing the game being played on the 3DS and not just showing the gameplay full screen....not a view that I prefer.

That said, LOS was great, so I am somewhat looking forward to it.

I really hope they people at Mercurysteam have played lots of Rondo of Boold
because I'm hellavu sure they played plenty of SoTN with that "Enough talk! Have at you!" reference at the end of the trailer.

I have to say though, those backgrounds...If they're really pushing the hardware, then that would be really great. Here's hoping they really get it to run silky smooth.

Also the music. Needs Vampire Killer motif please.

I'm not sold on the direction this is heading. Every new trailer makes it look more like handheld LoS (the title, I know) and less like handheld Castlevania.

I'm still getting it because I love the series so much but I hope to get something more along the lines of an IGAvania in the future, even if IGA himself isn't allowed to direct it.

Doesn't show enemies as severe damage sponges as it looked during... E3, was it? Nothing here indicates otherwise, they may just be showing the killing blows. But if you can take enemies out with stronger attacks and combos much quicker, then it is a non-complaint...

?
If something they want it to look more like SotN... they even inserted the quote of Dracula from SotN at the end ("But enough talk... Have at you!")

By the way the game looks bad... really bad, not interested at all.
Just give me the 1999 IGAvania.

Glad they decided to go the adventure route over the straight action platforming (At least that's what the trailer made it look like, especially with 20 hours of gameplay). Don't get me wrong, I love Castlevania classic, but the 3DS has a strong lack of a Metroid (Virtual Console doesn't count), or any other MetroidVania type game.

Also that reference at the end, either "Miserable little pile of secrets" or get out.

Oh god that framerate. I damn near threw up watching the trailer.

Dear Mercury Steam: Please stop making (ruining) videogames.

That platforming was most definitely not extreme, and I fear the combat and exploration.

That quote at the end got me, though.

The voice acting was pretty terrible. Disappointing that they haven't got Robert Carlyle back as Gabriel.

The game itself looked surprisingly solid though.

even though I will miss those great igavanias, this is looking better by the day. Hopefully it's a solid one, it seems to have a lot of effort being put into. 3DS needs more of this kind of games

I guess this is as good of a thread to ask as any.

I just got a 3DS, and was wondering which Castlevania game for the DS is the best? And is there one I should stay away from?
