Could be the unveiling of the HTC DLX that Android Central got leaked pics of a few weeks ago!

All of the usual Android blogs like Phandroid, Android Central, Android Police etc... have all gotten invites along with the usual tech blogs like the Verge. So this leans towards the obvious that it's something Android related.

Its that 5" 1080p HTC phablet. Will be interesting to see the reviews of it versus the Note II. Everyone laughed at the first Note, then it sold a shitload, now Sony and HTC are playing catch up.

I still have worries if it's the 1080 phablet about how well apps will look on this thing. Everything is going to have to be uprezed.

From what I saw of the J Butterfly (the phone the DNA is reportedly based on), it doesn't feel like a Phablet though. Just a phone with a big-ass screen. Which makes me excited. As long as it has expandable memory (like the J Butterfly) and isn't over $200 (which the leaked Verizon roadmap said it isn't), this will likely be my next phone pick, otherwise I'm going with the GS3.

The photos for the J were so beautiful, sadly all that branding on the back of the DLX just ruins it.

I'm loving this new direction that phones are going. Once youve experienced a massive 4-5 inch phone, it's really hard to go back to a small iPhone type screen.

still trying to wrap my fucking head around how a fucking phone has a higher res then most/my main workhorse laptop

I mean what the double no triple fuck man....

anyone see the LG Intuition? I held it in a Verizon store yesterday and it's probably the worst feeling phone ever. Cheap materials and a 4:3 5" screen. So awkward.

Bingo. It's not a competition in my mind until other phablets get that pen implementation.

I'd agree, but I think you can choose to look at the new HTC device as a next gen One X instead. Just with a slightly larger screen and the 1080p SLCD3 screen with the new proc. Device looks better in that light than a direct comparision against the Note 2 since the HTC device will in all likely hood lack the wacom pen support.

One advantage the Note series will probably retain is the wacom support. Without that it makes the HTC device more like a large phone, and less of an actual phablet IMO.

Agreed. But man, dat screen.

Either way, before I make a decision I need to know how we'll the rumored S4 Pro chipset runs the software at that resolution, and the battery size. Because, you know, HTC...

Fuck HTC. Got this HTC One V and it's terribly slow. Should have looked at the specs before, but bought it because it was cheap :/

Since this phone has APQ8064 and a separate LTE modem it will need a battery of at least 2400mAh. Without a battery at least that big it won't even last one day.
