I was discussing this kind of thing with duckroll earlier and I have to wonder if A-1 pictures pictures are stretching themselves too thin with the vast amount of projects that they're undertaking. I have to assume that their main focus at the moment is on Sword Art Online.

A-1 Pictures spreading their resources too thin is a legitimate concern, but considering how ahead of schedule From the New World obviously was, I would ascribe whatever flaws have cropped up with it in particular to Ishihama and the people he selected more than the studio at large.

Production IG is another one where it seems they might have pushed themselves too far. I mean we have a solid production visually in the form of Robotics;Note and then Psycho-Pass where it seems they're not even getting half of what R;N is getting.

Production I.G. is hardly a stranger to doing two shows at once, so again, I would ascribe whatever production flaws Psycho-Pass has to the individual staff working on it instead of the studio as a whole.

I think Gurren Lagann got taken off Netflix when they lost the Starz content, which TTGL was a part of. I might be wrong though.

I think it was before but the licensing for it expired. Not uncommon for Netflix stuff, as there's a wave of stuff (mostly Funi's) that's gonna expire within the next few days and be removed from Netflix.

Guess I gotta watch the first season someday now!

This is why I dont like streaming sites that much. When a license expires, the show is gone and who knows when it will come back? When you buy a disc, its on your shelf for years and years.

Once again, bland girl talks about the most pressing of issues, while they make fun of Klein. Never give up Klein!

Medaka Box: Abnormal 05

I liked it. Nice battle. I've always liked Zenkichi more than the other characters in this show, because he was normal.

Btoom 06

Don't they know that Komodo's Dragon bite is venomous? Also, when will the MC start to ponder about how they'll go out of the island without playing the game?

Jormungand: PO 06

Hehehe, I love Kasper and Chiquita. She's so... loco. lol

[Sword Art Online] - 19

This is probably the strongest episode so far in this shows second half. It had, presumably, everything that a fan of this show would be looking for: MMO drama, brother on sister action, shots of Leefa's chest, exciting actions scenes and serious speeches about the nature of man.

Leaving those matters aside I just want to take a moment to point out how great this episode looked visually. Normally I'd just expect them to focus on polishing up the action scenes and let everything else slide but this whole episode was packed with great shots regardless even during normal conversation and there's barely any cost cutting or 'derp' faces to be found.

The lighting was great, the background art was impressive and even the digital visual effects were used subtly.

Even background art that only apepared on screen for a couple of seconds and which will presumably never be used again looked good:

A-1 spending that money. It's pretty sad to say that this looks slightly better than the Berserk movies. SAO doesn't really 'deserve' this kind of treatment, if we're talking talking about artistic worth but it's understandable why so much is being invested into it.

Kyousogiga II 03

As usual and as welcomed, the use of color makes this whole thing just so pleasing to look at. The episode wasn't as high paced as the last one but instead more whimsical and does provide a little fact about this crazy world. Still, a visual delight.

Psycho Pass 2:
That was a rather big step down from the first episode. I enjoyed seeing some of the technology of the world and the way it shapes the society and how people think, but there wasn't nearly enough of that, and the episode as a whole didn't have a whole lot happening in it. Neither the external conflicts nor the internal ones had enough time, and everything felt like it was resolved far too quickly. There were some good scenes and bits of dialogue, but as a whole it was just okay.

I think it is nice that they are giving the customer something back but I am really not sure if they can expect an further increase in sales by investing more.
So I do not quite get it.

Hello Anime GAF! Long time no post!

Just wanted to drop in and let some of you know that the Patlabor Movies 1 and 2 Collector's Editions are dirt cheap at the moment on amazon-

Patlabor Movie 1 Collector's Edition

Patlabor Movie 2 Collector's Edition

I already own both standard versions, but considering the huge amount of extras you get in the package, I double dipped on both.
Just wanted to share this price drop with anyone that is interested. I HIGHLY recommend both movies.

Wow, buying for those storyboard books alone.

Hasn't Manga got that particular licence, hence its disappearance. Amusingly, it appears the UK arm of Manga doesn't have any problem with dealing with the UK version of Netflix.

Sukitte Ii na yo 06

I guess we're back to super shoujo hour with this episode with yet another person comes in and tries to ruin the relationship. Why is this school so attractive for people with the intent to break up a relationship between a pretty boy and a shoujo lead.

Wasn't really feeling this episode since I kept seeing the plot happening the moment the new character was introduced and hoping they wouldn't go that route.

More attention? A more dedicated fanbase? There's something to be said about making quality products. It ties people to a brand and, when fans feel rewarded for their dedication, they might be more excited to buy merchandise or something else related to the francise.

Even I'm interested in checking out the episode and I'm still not caught up despite saying I would have. The quality of the festival episodes in Hyouka got people here interested in going through with the series. There will always be productions that attempt to cash in on something popular with a subpar quality product, but there are plenty of reasons to make something outstanding too.

Well you took it better... lol
Considering
the things Akio's been up to
, it didn't really surprise me too much. And I'm having difficulty caring about Utena when she's not being a badass. Granted, I felt the same about
Juri
and then episode 29 happened.
Did you like the asparagus and salmon sandwiches? =
Don't forget the omelette! I have no idea what that was supposed to be implying.

Space Brothers 24:
More of a transitional episode. I didn't enjoy this as much as previous episodes, but it had some nice moments, such as the parallels between Mutta and Hibito's actions, the scenes of Hibito on the roof, and the hilarious attempts at speaking Japanese. A down episode for the show, but even the less exciting episodes of this series are still pretty well put together.

That's a serious discount right there! They really can't have sold any of those things when they came out considering how much stock they seem to have left.

MLP is cancer.

Jojo 06

OH GOD OH GOD OH GOD

LUCK > PLUCK
TARKUS PLAYING ON THE FIGHT WITH TARCUS
POCO'S NEESAN CHARACTER DESIGN
OVERDRIVE RENDAN
DAT TRANSITION
ZEPPELI MOTHERFUCKING BOSS POSE

This show is too fucking amazing. Holy shit. Doubt people who are watching only the anime will get the musical references, so it was a nice idea to actually use ELP track.

...are you fucking kidding me? I don't even have any interest in the movies but I still bought them when they were around $12 each a few months ago, thinking "well, it's a really nice rare LE, probably won't drop more than this". Twelve dollars wasted for something I was never going to buy in the first place, and I haven't even watched either movie yet since they arrived, jesus christ. *hangs self*

That's it, I can't buy anything ever anymore, since it'll always immediately get cheaper the second after I've bought it.
