Professional Doofus lines up a month early for Wii U

So is he getting paid to do this or is he just into gaining a reputation on the internet for being a dedicated time-waster?

This thread title should really be changed. It's a travesty to think that a forum dedicated to gaming cannot look at the passion of a man who is trying to spend a month in line to be the owner of the first "official" Wii U can then call that man a "Professional Doofus" and laugh at how he decides to live his life.

Classic hypocritical GAF at its worst.

[EDIT] If kotaku ran an article with this title, it would be mocked. But it's ok for us to do it, right?

I also want to add that it is ok for individuals in the topic to call him a doofus, but not a thread title. That is ridiculous and mods should stamp that out.

cnet interviews people lined up for WiiU, including Triforce

It's been a while, but one of the guys interviewed was also at Nintendo World for the Kingdom Hearts 3DS launch. Instantly recognized him, he was cool.

Boy I can't wait to line up tomorrow morning for my Wii U. ;; ._.

So you're saying GAF shot itself in the foot?

I'm specifically stating that it is wrong, in my opinion, to title a thread about a gamer lining up for a Wii U "Professional Doofus lines up a month early for Wii U".

Simply call it "Nintendo fan..." or "TriForce," and let everyone in the thread call him a doofus if they so choose. It's not the biggest deal on earth, but I still think it is wrong.

It already was something along those lines, but a mod changed the title to "Professional Doofus", mostly because everyone was already crapping on him in the entire thread anyway. ;P

How is waiting in line for a month for any non-essential material item not doofus-esque?

I don't think that's going to happen, Triforce.

One can still let the readers decide themselves. Not everything needs to be spelled out like we're 5 yo. I saw the original title when the thread was fresh and yeah, this was a bad mod decision. Like 98% of the time title changes are for the better, though.

Even the nerds on GAF don't take video games this seriously. I think that's what the thread title implies.

Meanwhile, Slickdeals posted that Target is selling the Deluxe with Mario Bros for 409.99 (so no markup beyond needing to buy the game) and it's still in stock hours later. Time well spent.

Since you don't seem to be well-informed, I'll help you out: The subject of this thread probably isn't actually the reason a mod edited "professional doofus" into the thread title. Triforce is infamous for other things.

Exactly. Call a spade a spade.

I personally think he's a doofus 'cuz the dude legally put "Triforce" in his name. I have no idea how old the dude is so I can't make comparisons about how long I've gamed versus him, but I probably love video games (and Nintendo) as much as him. I'd never in my right mind legally make a reference part of my name; not even "Mega Man". :)

...and I'd sure as hell not line up any further in advance than an hour or two for anything.

First, I think the thread title change sucks. Like Gummb said, it should really be changed back to just Triforce or Nintendo Fan.

Second, if somebody wants to line up for something - no matter what - I think there is NOTHING wrong with it.

Also, what wrong with you bumpkin? You claim that Triforce's actual intention of doing all that is just to prove that others are lesser videogame fans than him (do you have any prove for such a ridiculous claim?). Also, what he does with his middle-name shouldn't be your buisiness at all (he's a free man, living in a free country and should be able to do what a he feels like, as long as it's legal and doesn't hurt others).

Pretty ignorant nerds around here, I gotta say. Makes me wonder if I'm on gaming forum or not.

I bet a lot of Star Wars fans did similar waiting in line things, so did they get mocked for that as well?

Kinda low GAF, kinda low...

He's not being called a doofus only for what he's doing this month. Triforce is infamous for all sorts of stupid shit.

Look at this fucking guy. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LpwVQ43SUOE

Hearsay has it that he's being sponsored, but hell if I'd know who or if it's even true.

I wouldn't be surprised though, as a month is quite the stunt otherwise.

Anyway, I shall head over and scout things out in a couple hours.

So what's the deal with this guy is he like that Sonichu dude?

Chrischan (Sonichu) is a man with severe autism. It's pretty depressing how much the internet delights in trolling the shit out of him. Triforce is just a really really dedicated fan. I'm not sure he'd fall on the autism spectrum, but if he did he'd probably only be considered asperger's, and that could be on the chopping block as far as a diagnosis.

I wouldn't say "is just". He's in it for the publicity and interviews too. Absolutely loves attention in any form, as far as I can tell. Probably loves that a 12 page thread dedicated to him exists as well, because as far as he's concerned, no publicity is bad publicity.

Or so I surmise from my few interactions with him.

He acts pretty normally in the interviews; he probably just likes the INTERNET CELEBRITY status.

He actually has sponsors; it's definitely not just "obsession".

I don't think the point of this is to literally hold the thing a couple of minutes before everyone else. This Triforce man here will still be the ,,official first''.
And if thats what makes him happy... cool for him, can't say the same about certain months that I've spent doing something more ,,meaningful'' :lol smh at the hate this man gets for doing it. Even if he's a douche, what does that have to do with this whole affair?

So why does he have to line up? Plenty of people will have this before him. He's still crowned 'the first to own Wii U' which is a meaningless accolade, and not even accurate, before the thing even comes out?

Actually the talks are just folding asperger's into a lesser diagnosis of autism.

It's not passion. It's someone trying to make a name for himself in the age of everyone and their grandma doing stupid stuff on youtube for 15 min of fame.

Wow, the amount of promo Duxster and VxG got there was probably more than they will ever. This actually helps TriForce a lot.

ahueahueahueahueahueahueahueahueahue

I thought they were already announced actually
Yup, they have.

there is something more rewarding about getting it the true way instead of bypassing it a certain way by people breaking dates or knowing someone - so like someone said he's aiming to get it the official day good for him but im sure if he could get it the other way to he might be bragging about it

Question, what is with all the Triforce negativity anyways?

The only thing I know about the guy, is that he lines up for any new nintendo product early.
