What was GameStop's rationale for not returning the money? Did you have the WiiUs full-paid? If so, I've been turned away at stores before because there wasn't enough cash in the register to satisfy a large return (with the knowledge that I can return later and do it).
There's no way they'd refuse a pre-order cancellation for any other reason.
Anyway, got my Deluxe with NSMBU - excited to finally play. I've been without a console for over six months now.
Yeah, sold out because prickes like this bought them. SMH that this kind of shameless profiteering is still legal.
No doubt someone will be in here defending it shortly.

And how would you load the HBC without being able to install it? Letterbomb no longer works and you can't transfer it like you transfer other channels.

and i couldnt find a place around me, in a highly populate area, that would let me preorder a day after the preorders were live. i lucked out that toysrus is sending me one in the mail, but being able to locally pick it up wouldve been way better.

About AC3 bought it, traded it in without opening to get NSMB and ZombiU. I already played it on 360 so I didn't care.

TO me I see great potetianl here. When the Wii was announced I saw it as playing DS but with the screen; the stylus was the remote, the TV the screen. But this it was not really properly executed, this can be remedied here. The thing is the pad feels great and it really feels better at the DS on the TV thing that I saw in both. Also now that tablet are the it thing this little thing could really take off! And if it doesn't I get Zelda, MEtroid hopefully Star Fox and Fzero in HD.

The new system feeling I wanna play and I'm excited for things to come. Kinda lost interest in gaming at the end of this gen. My wii was untouched for years I think. Played some gems on PS3/360/PC but nothing like old times. Halo 4 and Wii U have really sparked my interest again.
The apps. At least Netflix which is the only one I tried.It feels great, it looks great to me and the big winner here is the changing of the screen from just one push. And viewing the video on the pad is awesome. LAst TV I had, had Picture in picture in it, I miss it, this really gives me that feeling when I was updating the system and seeing tv at the same time.

The only real bad thing I can see right now is the slowness of all things. The OS , the constant updating(to be expected an the main update took about 30-40 min to me not that bad IMO). The OS really sucks I hope they can fix it, but it feels so slow. Once it appears it's ok, changing the screens here is also cool.
All in all I like. I;m diving into some ZombiU right now to see the games. I have Nntendo LAnd that came w/ the system. Scribblenauts and NSMB

I won't defend that, but a minor 50 buck bump would be reasonable to someone looking to find one for their kid or something. I don't think it's any worse than Walmart forcing you to buy 2 games to get one of the ones they have in stock, in fact I think that is a major dick move for a retailer to do that. FFS they have direct access to Nintendo and then abuse it.

Had a bit of a scare this morning, but am downloading the update!
Plugged everything in and turned on the WiiU and the gamepad. Pressed the sync button and the WiiU just stayed at the opening screen. No matter how many times I pushed sync on either device, it never left. Let it sit for about 5 minutes and thought I had already ruined it, because I couldn't even power the system off. Ended up having to unplug and re-plug to get it going. Now I'm just sitting here with games and Wiimotes sprawled across the coffee table and waiting for this to finish. :|

The deluxe is not a better deal at all if you do not want Nintendo land. The storage is insignificant since if you plan to do digital downloads you will need an HDD anyways and the discount does not help at all if you plan to buy and trade games. The cradles are ridiculous.
My local FutureShop had all the pre-orders at a separate counter (online order pickups). No one listened to the guy though and a bunch ran through to the games section while 4 of us slowly walked over and calmly received our units. They were all labeled and designated. Good work.
Told me they had 60 units and about 50 pre-orders. I was out of there before the rest of the them finally figured out where to pickup.

Got everything ready for tomorrow, got games, hard drive, extra controllers etc. The only thing missing is the Wii U lol Coming tomorrow, the wait is killing me.
Went today to pick up games at my local Best Buy and Toys'R'Us (1:30pm CTM) and they still had 4 white units on shelves at Best Buy and three at TRU.

I think this is the first time I bought a system in the morning and I still haven't played a single game yet. First I was downloading update/charging controller, then I was playing around with the apps and menus, and now im finally downloading a game.
Nintendo have earned the profit by actually putting some work in. You shouldn't be able to just put no fucking effort in, exploit the demand that a third party has created through their own efforts and profit off of it.
Ideally, if a product is readily available at retail, then there should be a cap on the amount of profit a third party can make from selling it. Probably not convenient to police it, but y'know.

It looks a bit nicer than I remember it on original wii. The colors look somewhat crisper, doesn't seem as blurry. The audio sounds crisper as well coming through multichannel audio. It's not dolphin level improvement or anything, but I am funding that my wii games appear mildly nicer. At least enough for me to notice. Being able to select "just scan" for my tv image shrinks the screen down a tad, but gives a sharper look than just stretching to 16:9 to fill the screen.

They somehow got 75 in stock, so I was able to pick one up spontaneously at midnight last night. Around 40 ppl were there in line, more were coming in as I left with my wii u, so I'm relatively confident that they're sold out by now.
