You can earn 6 points for each dollar spent on the Nintendo network premium in Australia.

So if you spend $100, you get 600 points

and they are redeemable once you get to 500 points ( worth $7)

So in effect AUS gamers get a 6% discount on their nintendo network premium compared to a 5% nintendo network premium discount in other countries !

I just made a call to Gamestop this morning, which is one of three places I have a pre order up. They said I can chose between deluxe and the ZombiU bundle on friday since I'm the first person on the list. Decisions, decisions...

I was going to buy ZombiU anyway but I don't have use for the Pro Controller at the moment. I want NintendoLand eventually, but there won't be a lot of people around for local multiplayer the next weeks and all the talk about crashes and freezes with NL don't help either...

Another thing: Will there be screen protector kits in stores day one?

Nobody knows - I'm guessing that the European model will come pre-patched, the US release was rushed to hit Black Friday. Chances are the European models when they install the base OS onto them it'll be the updated OS.

Of course that's just my guess.

The Australian Wii U does not come pre-patched. You still need to download the update. So I'd imagine the European one will be the same since it's the same region.

I applied my Hori screen protector to my gamepad today and it was very easy to do. And it doesn't seem like it did anything to the image quality. Also it's got that feel when you touch it with the stylus like "yeah, you're not gonna get scratches on this thing unless you take a knife to it or something". lol

what about touch sensitivity?

Oh wait, shit. I got the pricing wrong. Somehow my brain registered it as €239, the actual price is €326. So with employee discount i'm getting it for €261 total, deluxe model. I made that previous post without having woken up properly, my bad!

It's in this weeks flyer of MediaMarkt in the Netherlands.
Thx, still a good price. Will check out MM here in Germany.

There are pictures of this around here somewhere. It comes attached to a hideous skin that covers a good chunk of the system. I'd rather just have the battery with maybe a little extra bulk in the back.

there's like 30% extra space to the left, the compartment could be bigger for future batterie upgrades but better than nothing, still, could we potentially use a higher quality battery,

I DON'T FUCKING CARE ABOUT WEIGTH. And that's one of the biggest diagreement I have with nintendo, weigth/formfactor are completely irrelevant to me.

So my Wii U will be here sometime tomorrow after waiting 11 days on 3 day shipping. Don't have time to go through the entire thread, would anyone mind commenting on how they feel about their purchase so far? I've got Zombi U, Mario, Black Ops 2 and Nintendo Land on the way with it and I'm just hoping that Zombi U or Mario is good at the very least.

Loving mine. The wife totally loves it too. She's on it right now screwing around with Miiverse and drawing pictures. Games are fun...trying to finish off Black Ops 2, but been going strong with Darksiders 2. Yeah...no regrets.

Is it confirmed that Australia and Europe are the same region? Because scribblenauts is out over there but not here until spring next year

Thats a pretty good deal!

Shame the nearest Media Markt is like 50 km away :(

Only being able to get one game is torture.

What's so good about Mario games, anyways?

And exactly how repetitive is Darksiders 2? I enjoyed 1, for the record.

I've asked a lot, GAF, but this is final decision, clutch time. Halp.

"Mario games" is too broad of a statement. Some Mario games are great (Galaxy 1+2), and some are just generic fluff (NSMBU, NSMB2, Mario Tennis 3D). The nicest thing I can say about NSMBU is that it's a very competent 2D Mario game. It's not doing anything new, and it doesn't even show off the pad very much. The problem isn't the content, it's the price of the content. Should be a 40 dollar title. If you buy it, you most likely wont be disappointed in the game, just the price.

As for Darksiders 2...don't pay full price. I'm a big fan of the first game, and the 2nd was a letdown. It takes place in a huge, empty world with very little to do outside of the dungeons. If you can get it for 20-30 dollars, jump all over it. If the choice you're making is Mario vs Darksiders 2 and you're dead set on getting one of them, Mario is the answer.

Finally my copies of NSMBU and NG3:RE have shipped from ToysRUS. I had this hope that I wouldn't be buying all or most of the Nintendo owned or published games at launched. Wanted to give third parties an honest shake. Looks like I ended up doing that anyway in the end. NSBMU, Nintendo Land, and NG. Have no use for Sing Party. Just glad the other Nintendo games (owned/published) were pushed back removing the need to decide when to buy them.

I don't think Darksiders 2 is particularly repetitive, just overly reliant on the rule of three trope, I guess. The worst thing about the game is that it sputters across the finish line with the last third including a terrible shooting section (a lot worse than those seen in Darksiders, which I thought were kind of fun) and a final dungeon with potential that finishes in the blink of an eye.

The combat is fantastic and the dungeons are almost all a lot of fun and well designed, the story isn't quite as good or well-presented as the original, though. I was happy with the game overall, just as I was the original, both are flawed yet loveable titles with a shitload of potential - it's a shame we'll likely never see it realised. However, it's probably not the game to go with if you can only get one, ultimately.

There aren't any kill rooms like in DS1 is there? Every time I get to those sections of the game they killed all momentum I had. I had to stop playing only to come back much later and force myself to get through them. It's why it's taking me so long to get through the game. Came across my second set a few weeks ago. Did two of the rooms and just couldn't be bothered to do the rest that night. If those weren't in the game I think I would like the game a LOT more. Other games do this as well but it's so over the top in Darksiders I think. It's one of things that is holding me back from even deciding to get DS2 at some point in the future.

I agree with you on Mario. It's a good 2d game and should sell at a 2d price. There is a lot of gameplay in it, but there is no way in fuck that it cost Nintendo anywhere near as much resources to warrant a 60 dollar price. Even 40 is a lot considering it can be downloaded. That said, I wouldn't have not bought it and I don't regret it.

As for DS2. I really liked the game. It had enough in it for me to get a solid 20+ hours out of without getting bored. I'd say buy it, play it, then hock it on ebay.

No, there aren't any of those forced arena fights in Darksiders 2 (thank god).

I'm gonna go poke a hole in the plastic of Mario so I can't return it... best launch game, for you guys?

Got this yesterday, pretty awesome so far. The update took an hour for me.

But...I guess because of the way my home is structured, I can't go very far with the controller. Nuts. I'm going to try to move to the middle of the house.

Played Nintendo Land and BLOPS II. BLOPS II looks fantastic. I haven't gotten NSMB U yet.

Okay i contacted Zavvi and asked:

Hi There,

Can you tell me if you will be posting the Wii U a couple of days before the launch date to arrive on the day or will you not be posting them until launch day?

Thanks

*****

pretty straight forward right? But they replied with:

Hi Mr ******,

Thank you for getting in touch with us about your pre-order.

We send all items for pre-orders out as soon as we receive them into our warehouse from the manufacturers. We always endeavour to have pre-orders delivered to our customers on, if not before, the release date.

I can see that on this occasion we weren't able to have this with you on the release date and I am
really sorry about that. I understand this must be both disappointing and frustrating.

We will send you an email to let you know that this has been sent to you.

Again, I am really sorry that we've let you down on this occasion, but if you have any questions please don't hesitate to get in touch.

Kind regards,
*******

I dont understand this as the console is not out in the UK until Fri 30th. Is this an example of a standard issue copy and paste reply? :/

.

Currygan

at last, for christ's sake
for those in UK interested in the console, amazon.it (free shipping to any EU country) has the WiiU Premium + Nintendoland back for preorder at 346, which is 279£, cheapest on the market. I bought several things from .it and it rocks

(I preordered mine there for £267, on its first day)

Got my Deluxe on day one, here are my first impressions of the console.

http://www.examiner.com/article/nin...ttempt-at-something-different?cid=db_articles

Since then, I have downloaded Assassin's Creed 3 on the E-shop to get the feel for a AAA port. Aside from the ridiculous download (4 hours on a 60/30 connection) and an even more ludicrous 2.5 hour installation, I love it. I need to get some hands on with the Xbox 360 version of the game as to see if there are any differences, as I don't remember the shadows being this... spotty in the past versions of those games (on the X360) but I have heard mixed things about AC3, so who knows.

The game pad incorporation really helps you immerse into the world (something I'm sure the PC guys are used to). With out the onscreen HUD and with the speed of the touch screen, everything is really fluid. I just can't break the mental conditioning built into me about the location of the A/B/X/Y buttons. I kind of understand why Nintendo swapped them..but I just can't get used it it.

Zavvi man, i would never trust something i wanted on the day to zavvi.

Skiesofwonder

Walruses, camels, bears, rabbits, tigers and badgers.
The batter life sucks, but I'd rather have a hotspot so I could play this anywhere in the house.

That would be an accessory I would actually buy. My bed, couch with TV, and bathroom are all connected to room with the WiiU, so I'm good there. But as for playing downstairs in the family room or in the kitchen, that is a no-go. I can however get a signal the floor below my room in another bedroom, but I would rarely ever want to use the WiiU in there lol.

Oh tbh I didnt really expect it to come on launch day if im honest, but their prices are the best on the web.

What concerns me is the part of the reply where they were sorry they had let me down etc? Its not out yet, I dont get it. Must be a stock copy & paste reply surely?

You're making it sound as if you have a separate sex-bedroom.

To those who have a projector setup, how do you manage to get the sensor bar working from such a distance? I just tested my Wii on my projector for the first time using a HDMI adapter and the range was a couple metres too short.

Thankfully the sensor bar cord is long enough to put on a table, but I'd rather not have a cable dangling in midair across the room.

It seems that the Wii U is up 2 date, no download required.

And the WLAN setup was easy as fuck and works like a charm. TV control is also pretty cool, worked instantly.

Get a wireless sensor bar, put it on the coffee table in front of you, tell the Wii U the sensor bar is below your TV.

Even if you got the sensor bar under your projected image, it likely would have very wonky alignment anyways since it's not really designed with super large displays in mind.

Is it a UK model you've got?

What can you actually do with TV control? Just change volume, switch video inputs and turn the set on and off? Or can you change channels on satellite receivers like Sky+ too?

(I was sort of looking forward to downloading the update. Which sounds stupid even to me.)

Interesting... my bedroom is directly above the living room so I'm hopeful it's gonna work up there for me!

I can reach my bedroom and kitchen, which is enough for me. I've been watching Hulu on the gamepad while cooking(The non charging cradle serves a purpose), and checking Miiverse and playing AC3 offTV in bed. Overall, I'm quite satisfied.

edit: A retransmitter or power booster would be nice though, as ID be able to reach my office...
