They only remade the original and it is an amazing remake they modernizes the first game in the best way possible. It's up there with the REmake. TR2-5 was not remade and the only way to see that content is to play these releases, old school style.

oh right, for some reason I assumed they were all remakes but I guess it's just anniversary. at least I assume it's anniversary since I think that's the one where I fought
motherfucking dinosaurs
.

Started and finished Walking Dead over the weekend.

Not really sure what to say without spoiling all of it, but I'm confused why this is being considered for GOTY. I enjoyed it, but I don't see what's so special about it.

I finished Spec Ops: The Line today. I enjoyed it enough to recommend it. It is a pretty generic game if you were to strip away the great story and setting. As an entire package I would say that I liked it.

I understand why people consider it GOTY, I just think they're terribly wrong, and it's a well-written bad game. There ain't much competition, specially on consoles, though.

I think half the fun for me was waiting for the episodes each month.

I'm enjoying the Walking Dead but now it won't recognise my saves since they released episode 5. Joy.

It did that to me between episode 3 and 4, couldn't find a way to fix it. The saves should still be there, it's a problem with the prefs file changing locations between the steamapps folder and my documents folder when they patch/add eps.

Haven't had the energy to start again.

Especially as

this is a mostly academic question, but is there actually any reason to buy those old tomb raider games if you already own the remakes? my understanding is that the remakes is are pretty faithful, and they have native 360 pad support and look better so... I guess I'm just not really seeing why you would buy the originals, particularly given the pricing.

then again I'm not a big TR guy or anything, so perhaps there's stuff about the originals which was streamlined out of existence in the remakes. what's the deal?

If you already have Anniversary, don't buy Tomb Raider 1. Anniversary is vastly superior and go through the same story and levels as Tomb Raider 1. Tomb Raider 1 is also a particularly frustrating game to get to work with a controller since it uses DOSBox and DOS games seem to only recognize four buttons on a gamepad, not the ten that someone who played the Tomb Raider games on PS1 or DC might want. The rest can be gotten if you are willing to put up with the controls, save Angel of Darkness which is crap.

Yeah I'm between 3 and 4 too. I've backed up my saves and will try some fixes tonight otherwise I'll be just playing with the default choices.

I have Kings Bounty Armored Princess and the expansions. I've never played a Kings Bounty game before, which of the campaigns is best to start with?

  • Armored Princess
  • Champions of the Arena
  • Defenders of the Crown
  • Orcs on the March

Honestly, the first game as AP dumps you into things with the expectation you know what's up. I was reading that Orcs on the March is the AP vanilla campaign + additional content which made the base AP campaign redundant.

I've been playing Walking Dead. Damn, that is an enjoyable experience. Pretty brutal though.

loving mark the ninja as I knew I would, but why does the game stutters/chugs at times even tho the framerate supposedly stays at 60? it happens randomly and its somewhat annoying.

Runs fine for me. Maybe your 680 is dying.

No stuttering and chugging, even at 1440p. RMA your 680.

googled and it seems some folks fixed it by disabling triple buffering but forcing vsync through drivers or something. I'll check tomorrow.

Speaking of Mark of the Ninja, the Snare achievement seems to be buggered for me. I've done it a handful of times, even following to the pixel a short video guide on YouTube, but it's still locked.

Going back and forth with Hitman and Mark of the Ninja is pretty funny. The former can be so frustrating on Hard while Mark is pure joy. Every time I start Hitman I have to remind myself that the disguise system is a complete turd and that I have to play it as a "traditional" stealth game. Still on Part I.

Or you could play it as Max Payne 4.

don't hate me

I picked up GalCiv 2 complete and Crusader Kings 2 during the sale. Holy shit those are some amazingly good games.

Damn, Guardian of Light is always on sale somewhere. At this point I guess everyone has it :D

It's also available in a free ad-supported version on the Square-Enix website, it works right in the browser with very good performance; mouse & keyboard, 360 controller, full screen, everything. Not much reason to buy it at this point, I think.

I have a problem with steam now.

I was gone the weekend and now when I wanna try to activate a product-key, steam just wont response to anything anymore.
Anyone knows why or if there was an update during the weekend?

And if anyone wants a steamkey of Gish, tell me :)

Maybe it's being caused by going into reduced power states? If you haven't already, go into the Nvidia control panel -- 3D settings - Mark of the Ninja -- Change Adaptive Power settings to "Prefer Maximum Performance".

So I finished Transformers: War for Cybertron last night in co-op with a friend and I have to recommend it here. It was 5$ on the last sale and it will probably be 5$ again on the upcoming Christmas sale. Here is why it blew me away:

-The co-op is great. The netcode was super solid and the scenarios are just a ton of fun to experience with a proper bro.

-The scale is spectacular. You travel through some massive areas without a single prerendered cutscene or load screen and the streaming is completely invisible (something that Quantum Conundrum completely failed at). The second to last level damn near brought a tear to my eye, but also made me bitter at Bioware from failing to match this space-based deliciousness in the Mass Effect series (also on UE3).

-The art is really consistent/pleasant. They keep the environments look fresh and varied and even though it is purely mechanical architecture, UE3 translates the style perfectly. They also make smart use of colorgrading.

-The gameplay also stays fresh and varied. The devs wisely mixed vehicle and ground combat in almost every level and the transition between the two feels really good. It's always a delight to drive or fly to some battle and drop out of the air while transitioning to the bipedal form.

-The writing and story is a lot of fun. Every possible robot-related pun is made and all the villains wear their hearts on their sleeves. I couldn't help but smile at everything Megatron/Star Scream said. Oh and each level starts with a little bit of text setting up the "episode." It's a great little touch that made each session feel like a weekly episode of the show.

Really the only issue we ran into was the final boss giving us a bit of trouble with certain attacks, but after a while we kinda perfected our method and nailed it. I feel pretty confident in saying we both had an incredible time with the game because we both agreed to play it again in co-op with a third friend who was asking if he should buy it haha.

Well, you sold me. I've been on the fence with it for a long time.

Do you think it would be enjoyable for a single player, too?
