The War Z: shady, misleading and false advertising.

Are there some cliffnotes or a summary for what he says because the video is 40 minutes =/
Walking Dead, Dead Rising and Left4Dead are pretty good. I'm guessing you're talking about something more traditional though.
Only 10 minutes or so but basically it's just a horrible looking game that runs very poorly. Micro-transactions.

- Graphics set to "Ultra" or "Custom" doesn't seem to have any effect.
- Textures and models are really bad
- No FoV settings, complains of motion sickness
- Animations are really shoddy
- 1 hour respawn rate on death
- Ingame micro-transactions
- Only one map available at launch and not near the size advertised
- Spawned on the map with three other plays in the exact same spot. Players showed as floating backpacks and killed him
- Purchased a bat with money and it was useless against the zombies. It dissappeared on death
I only got about 20 minutes into the video before I had had enough, it looked truly awful.

Oh god, it gets worse. He lost half his health by walking down a slightly sloped hill. Couldn't walk across very shallow river.
Enjoyed TWD. Not interested in L4D. I guess I'll try DR. WarZ and DayZ seem to have the concept that I'm thinking of, just that none of them seem to perform well.
Dead State will be our savior.
I watched a bit of it and skipped to the end where he says that the game sucks, not to support it and to contact Valve about all the issues with the game and its developer.
Not that I support this game or anything but the game hasn't been officially released has it? If if is only in alpha or beta you can't really complain that the current build does not have all of the features listed as it is still in development.
Edit - Wow looking at that Steam page it has been 'released'. I take back what I said then. They should have just left it as 'pre-order and get alpha/beta access'

The problem isn't that the game is missing features, but rather that the advertising stated they were present.
The steam page doesn't mention anything about alpha or beta. This kind of makes me worry about the quality control on submissions to Steam.

It looks exactly like what it is. A cheap cash grab with no respect for the people who will accidentally play it.
I don't even know if these graphics would have been acceptable in 2009. In almost 2013 it's just embarrassing.
The fact that they're even charging a base entry fee ($15 or whatever) ON TOP of the F2P/microtransaction model is just greedy. Especially when we have games like Hawken, one of the best PC releases this year, that can be downloaded and played forever if you choose without paying a dime. WarZ is practically shameful.

720p is available right now when I loaded the video. You probably loaded it before YouTube had finished processing the HD resolutions. It takes sometimes up to several hours and is perfectly normal.
And no, I doubt that WarZ is worse than Revelations 2012.

And the best part? You can't even swim across that water! How wonderful, an "ex-military" survivor who can't swim, can't climb, can barely jump, and has a brittle skeleton that can't cope with going down a slight incline.

Because the game came out yesterday. First we get the reaction on social sites (Reddit, YouTube, GAF) and the blog sites will write about it later this week.
I have to assume to reviews forthcoming will be suitably negative.
Thanks for the notes everyone. I've got a question though. I see that most of you are saying the graphics suck and I've only seen streams of DayZ but it didn't seem like it looked great either (I also read it's optimized poorly?). Seemed more like a great gameplay, mediocre graphics thing.

Believe it or not, plagarism is an industry past time. Before it was on impluse buys from unknown developer sitting in bargain bins. Mario, Zelda, Crash, Tomb Raider, Tetris, Starcraft, Doom, and Diablo clones looking for a quick buck. This generation's shovel ware has more than enough modern examples.
But even those were never so blatant, in broad daylight, in your face as this release is.
It happens with the guy's binoculars in the TotalBiscuit video too, trippy as hell.
That video is not actually representative of actual gameplay. The idiot made no prior attempt to familiarize himself with the game before he jumped in.
Yes there are bugs and alot of them suck hard but the game is in no way shape or form as bad as he makes out. For example (and after this one i dont really need to put any more in as it shows his complete incompetence) he bitches about there being zombies around making it hard for him to go into towns to get items....seriously gtfo.
I do agree 100% that this game should never have been put on steam. shady shit.

I love the part where his spiked bat barely had any effect on the group of zombies. He got in quite a few good hits, and none of them went down.
Or the part where the only way into the city was through a zombie-filled highway, due to the water surrounding the city that the survivor can't swim in for some reason.
Or the part where he spends six minutes infiltrating a zombie-filled military base, only to find absolutely no useful items within it. (Gotta get that micro-transaction moolah!)
