Will it reach the 3 million mark? How can we judge up to now this "move" to propose a proper sequel and not a "Grey" episode?

Do you think that we could see a Grey episode coming to 3DS next year, instead of (before) a proper sixth (???) generation new game?

It will definitely reach the 3 million mark someday yeah. And I think it's already done better than the usual third version, so I guess the move paid off, even if it's not a dramatic improvement.

Was Final Fantasy X HD 100% confirmed for Vita or was this just speculation?

MH Vita was never confirmed but people were assuming that was a sure thing.
Its been confirmed. Although development of it wont start until KH HD is released so this has a ways to go

Actually confirmed or confirmed like ZOE HD for Vita was confirmed?
How was zoe confirmed? Sony showed a FFX HD logo saying it was coming to Vita(and PS3). S-E then said about a year later that development hadnt began yet and that it wont start until after KH HD is done.

His point was that it's a licensed game, so it comes in with an existing fanbase, just not in video games. Think it's the first video game with that license, though, yes.

Well I don't think they provided any details about how they're planning to develop the Vita port, but otherwise it seems to be a similar situation. Showed a logo and said stuff about Transfarring.

They have to explain how they're planning to develop the Vita port? How exactly? They didn't explain how they're planning to develop the PS3 port either.

And ZOE was confirmed. They probably quietly canceled the port because it barely ran on the HD consoles. It's different because we already saw the PS3/360 versions.

S-E is just slow as fuck.

Japanese gamers love grinding!

Monster hunter - Grind
Animal Crossing - Grind
Pokemon - Grind
Dragon Quest - Grind
Dragon Collection - Grind
Cerberus - Grind

Mario.... okay... falls apart here - but a well constructed grind game is definitely a key to Japanese peoples hearts.

Everyone can appreciate a good handheld grind.

Hopefully the next wave of 3DS localisations will step-up. I don't want to play Layton on the train.

And even i am moderately surprised
This summer we've seen Jikkyou Pawapuro doing much lower compared to last year.
There has been a little discussion about the reasons for this massive drop ( around 50%). IIRC, it has been proposed it was due to some problems with baseball itself in Japan ( I don't exactly remember what, muu maybe talked about it). But some other people said it was due to quality issues within the game, and others said it was due to people waiting for the Definitive Version, introduced in 2011. Well, this week Konami released Jikkyou Powerful Pro Baseball 2012 Ketteiban. Let's see how things went with Famitsu numbers

[PSP] Jikkyou Powerful Pro Baseball 2011 Ketteiban (Konami) - 29.470 / 29.470

The PS3 version, in 4 weeks, between Week 51, 2011 (19/12/11 - 25/12/11) and Week 2, 2012 (09/01/12 - 15/01/12), was at 44k, so this means the PS3 SKU should have had a 20-21k debut week, just outside of top 30.

24./00. [PS3] Jikkyou Powerful Pro Baseball 2012: Definitive Edition <SPT> (Konami) {2012.12.13} (¥6.980) - 12.365 / NEW
30./00. [PSP] Jikkyou Powerful Pro Baseball 2012: Definitive Edition <SPT> (Konami) {2012.12.13} (¥5.250) - 9.786 / NEW

The Definitive (although not using the same naming conventions) for PPK has been around for a long while - hell, i think it was PPK 8 that had 4 versions (... i used to collect PPK games back in the PS2 days :/ )

Anyways, this time there's a downloadable upgrade path for people who bought 2012 regular so that may also have had an effect.

First day sellthrough

[PS3][360][WIU] Call of Duty: Black Ops II - Dubbed Edition - 50%
[PSV] Call of Duty: Black Ops - Declassified < 30%
[PS3][360] Fist of the North Star: Ken's Rage 2 - 30%
[PSP][PSV] AKB1/149: Love Election - 50-60%
[PSP] One Piece: Romance Dawn - Bouken no Yoake < 40%
[3DS] Magician's Quest: Magical Town - 10%
[WII] Inazuma Eleven Go Strikers 2013 - 20%

They pretty much dedicated an entire E3 conference to it and it seems like it may have only been for one freaking game.

Or one freaking game collection yup...

There's talk about the next game having smartphone/browser functionality for when you're away from your console so I bet Transfarring is dead for now.

seriously... what happened to Transfarring?

Transfarring was all about the Fox engine, ultimately.
It's not looking good because Ground Zeroes was announced as a PS3/360 game only but we really don't know much about the game or Phantom Pain to rule it out completely.

Kojima said that the Fox engine was going to be Vita compatible, so... if only a game journalist could ask about an update on this.

I assume transfarring got canned after seeing a couple of months of Vita sales. I'm surprised Zoe HD never made it out, but I always had doubts Kojima would want to neuter their games for it to be able to run on Vita as well. And the amount of resources for it to work probably didn't meet a quick cost benefit analysis.

Is anyone arguing the Vita is doing bad? It seems like you're trying to argue against some sony boogieman that's not there.

Anyways, the DS is still not dead in the US, in fact it's relatively kicking the 3DS's ass. Not sure why you would compare an admittedly lagging console with a massively successful one the likes of which we will never come close to seeing again. The sales charts in Japan show well enough how bad the Vita is lagging behind the competition.

Being that this is a Media-Create thread....I'm posting data that I've been collecting for close to 8 years. This is NOT a US sales thread.

I've been posting charts, data and comparisons here since 2004. No personal vendetta against the Vita. It's just statistically, it intrigues me, compared to previous Sony systems.

Now don't question my data ever again!

I'll go out on a limb:

The Vita version was canned ages ago because the Vita sold badly and it's a bunch of work to port something like this to Vita. They seem uninterested in making a Wii U version because there's little in the way of installed base and the hardware set makes it take a fair amount of extra effort. Judging by their listings so far, they are also humoring not bothering with PC version because they have to optimize for different hardware sets despite the engine already running on the platform.

The PS3 and Xbox 360 represent the vast majority of their target audience, and since they have taken ages upon ages to get a console game out the door, their entire focus is on shipping their product on their core platforms, and anything additional has to make a very strong business case for being worthwhile.

That's the most likely option but I won't call transfarring dead yet because Kojima was very interested in all that nonsense, Sony is all about that too and they got Criterion to make a version of their open world racing game and some third parties (Tecmo, Namco Bandai, Capcom) are starting to humour the idea of PS3/Vita games. So it seems like lately there could have been a push in that direction from Sony in Japan.

It's true that it's not looking good for transfarring fans though.

The actual development of FFX HD or the Vita port hasn't started yet?

Context. I was referring to this:

I don't think Konami said anything along those lines regarding ZOE (not that they need to, it was just for comparison's sake)

Another week, another Level 5 release selling 20% of its shipment day one.

And there's two of them the week after!

Ima let you finish your Wii U didn't statement but

PS3 Japan LTD 8.759.236 got you 17k of sales vs. Wii U Japan LTD 435.058 = chance of charting top 50???
I know :p. I was going off a quote in the last thread in regards to how much it sold compared to its shipment... I should have quoted it haha.

Hino can't really figure this out, can he?

If stores keep to order such big shipments, knowing all the precedents, there must be a reason, right? The last Inazuma Eleven games eventually sold their shipment, so probably it's not a big concern for retailers to have Level-5 games in abundancy.

A fair chance i'd say, but it depends on how much sales 50th place has. The size of the console install base doesnt always matter that much. The WiiU userbase is more than big enough to support i.e ~10k sales, but it depends exactly on who owns the system and if they are interested in the game.

at launch where that owner has an HD Mario, Nintendo Land and Monster Hunter to choose from that same week and the high price of this game I was thinking it did like ~2k in sales during the holidays you might not break top 50 with 2k sales

I think it greatly matters until the sales stabilize. For now people are going for the best of the best out there to accompany their console purchase. Do not expect other games to generate similar sales to an established community.

It could be, but i just wanted to say that bigger userbase VS smaller userbase doesnt always mean high sales VS low sales :) There are examples of where the size of the userbase doesnt mean much (a more recent examples would be Time Travelers, where the 3DS and Vita version sold about the same in the 1st week despite the 3DS userbase was about 6 million larger than the Vita userbase).

This is also the first Romance of the Three Kingdoms game on a console since the PS2, so there hasnt been any previous built-up fanbase on the PS3 for this serie specifically. I didnt have any expecations for the game, but if the WiiU version had charted within the Top 50, it wouldnt surprise me that much. Going by the Famitsu numbers, 50th place is maybe around 5k - 6k in sales i would guess? It wouldnt surprise me if it had managed to sold around that number.

The sad thing is that Strikers 2013 actually seems like a big improvement from the last Strikers since there is now an "acceptable" story mode (unlike the last game which felt more like an arcade mode of playing match after match) and a full-fledged online mode, the one thing that ironically does not exist in the main series. Yeah I know the whole "Japan doesn't care about online" stuff, but it's the effort that counts. Unlike what happened between Strikers and Strikers 2012 which was just additional characters.

Bigger userbase doesn't always mean bigger sales, right; but it surely means higher probability to have higher sales. This series is pretty new to PS3 as well, but the userbase on such platform is mature enough, after 6 years in the market, to sustain pretty good sales for series that never appeared on it.

Indeed. I was expecting the PS3 version to be the highest selling version because of those factors (mostly because of the bigger userbase). But i wouldnt be too surprised if the WiiU version was within the Top 50 either :)
