It still is, though. The 360 port is amazing. 1080p, 60fps, high res textures, still the same old awesome game.

To be honest I posted PD just be contrary, but I honestly couldn't pick between Halo 1 or PD, both are equally just as good.

Send FR's to Fyrewulff. He'll accept your hand in marriage.

Halo CE > Perfect Dark > Golden Eye

These are by an extremely small margin.

Never got to experience Halo CE on big enough LANs. Just on the PC, and it was fun as hell. Played that shit semi-competitively, it how I met my first gaming friends.

But Halo 2 was a force of nature. No other game, not even CoD, has come to dominate its platform as much as Halo 2 has. People would literally sit in Halo 2 lobbies to talk. We had PreGame Lobby custom gametypes, just to have the name. It was the Xbox Dash before the Xbox Dash. EVERYONE played it. The community was so tight then. Remained pretty tight throughout Halo 3 especially with Bungie giving us Forge, Theater, Filesharing. And then sort of faltered with Reach due to Reach not being as interesting. The community, to me at least, is struggling under Halo 4. In part due to the gameplay, but also in part that it launched incomplete.

My mates and I wouldn't literally drive around around on Coagulation for fucking HOURS just talking. Talking.

Halo 2 community, for as much as people gave it shit for the racist kids and shitty modders, was fucking amazing. Shame no game (Halo or otherwise) will reach that same level.

I remember when you could log on at any time of the day and there would be a random game of CTF on Coagulation going, or something similar. Just jump straight in and play.

Firstly, you can't expect the bolded, you just can't. 343 have done little to assuage the sense that the franchise isn't in stable hands, so assuming Halo 5 is going to be killer is a little over optimistic from where I'm sitting.

I haven't assumed it will be killer, I'm assuming they'll try to make it play like a Halo game. If I didn't expect at least this from them, I wouldn't be asking for a server browser because I'd already have abandoned the series.

I agree that Spartan Ops fell flat on its face, and I'd concur that it was the only feature introduced in Halo 4 that even threatened to shift a paradigm. However, in terms of pushing the envelope for Halo 5, I don't think a server browser is popular enough within Halo players and console gamers in general to generate the buzz you're talking about, and renovating that sense of Halo being a driving force of originality within the genre.

What an absolute tragic counter argument to make. There has never intended to be 'massive buzz' over a server browser, but that doesn't undermine its importance, it's a fundamental system that'd improve Halo's multiplayer across the board with absolute subtlety.

What I'd rather they focussed on, alongside a sublime matchmaking system on a par with Starcraft, or DOTA 2, or League of Legends, is to push the envelope with Theatre, and Forge in a genuinely exciting way. Terrain deformation, video editing capabilities, push to Youtube, etc. I believe that those features should take priority over a server browser because a wider portion of the community will feel their effects, and take advantage of them.

I cannot think of a section of the community that would not benefit from a server browser. It's clear to see that the competitive, creative and casual communities would all benefit infinitely, certainly not just a 'small group of players', like you somehow think despite having 'apparently' been a huge PC gamer.

Believe it or not, players don't like accepting that they're shit. They don't relish sitting in a baby seat, or strapping on a bib to eat. If dropping into games and getting destroyed almost immediately doesn't frustrate them to the point of abandoning the game altogether, asking them to play in a server titled 'Shit Players Only' will push them over the edge.

Disregarded as anecdotal.

But the original trilogy didn't have a server browser either, so why's it suddenly imperative (which is how you're suggesting it) to build one?

Because it was understandable with Halo 1/2 as they were amongst the first proper online FPS titles, I had expected one for Halo 3, and I've expected one since. Considering

A| You have to pay to play Halo
B| Titles like BF3, CSS & TF2 (which are free online) provide a vastly better online service.

Perfect Dark is definitely equal in my eyes to CE in the console space but for different reasons. Multiplayer's just good for dicking around in, but the game had lots of options, modes and replayability. It is insane what they put on that cartridge, and Timesplitters never came close to recapturing what made it so great. The only thing about PD is it gets dragged down by Skedar, in a game that nails the human combat so well you get these dumb aliens to contend with.

XBLA version's one of the best things to happen to the 360, but I hate what 4J did to Joanna's face.

rose tinted glasses argument is some of the stupidest shit in the whole world
Thank you.

I just finished up a 10 min game of ODST firefight.

So refreshing.

Its the best experience of the golden trio of fun to date I think. Its intense and it flows so well.
Three things come to mind while playing.

1.Firefight is irreplaceable, It's such a diverse experience that works so well because of its specific limitations. Quick Deaths, Vulnerability, Scaling Difficulty ect. It didn't work as well in Halo Reach and Spartan Ops while it has potential will never substitute or replace FF. Halo 5 needs it. Preferably with ODST player models and the limitations from ODST.

2. ODST is really an amazing game. The atmosphere, The restraint in mobility and the cut backs to the sandbox all create an "alternate halo" Still amazing in its own right but the sense of vulnerability makes it feel like Halo CE in certain aspects. After Halo 4 id be more than content if 343i worked on a ODST 2 linked to the new trilogy in some way. The boots on the ground marine squad aspects of the story creates something unique.

3. If 343i are so set on going after the CoD market then something like a Halo 4 MP x ODST seems like it would be much more fitting. Create a new unique MP experience that takes ODST's and puts them in PvP situations. The lack of shields and fast kills are something the CoD crowd really likes and ODST lend it self to that particularly well. As does Ordnance, Loadouts, and all the other quirks introduced.

Along side that you can have a Cut back Core Spartan vs Spartan PvP for the die hard fans that doesn't have the fluff of Halo 4/CoD and focuses more on competitive halo combat

Its dream world scenario stuff but its something I imagine would be immensely successful

The fuck, I start up Episode 3 of the Walking Dead and the game loads up episode 1 instead, nuking my save in the process.

So much for my plan of beating Episode 3 tonight.

Had the exact same problem (with ep 4 though)

Go to the list of episodes, see if you can "rewind" in ep 3, you'll be back ~5 minutes.

If it won't let you rewind, load up ep 3, back out, and it should let you then.

Tried starting it again, it loaded up episode 1 again. Gonna redownload just to be sure. Don't see a "rewind" option either.

EDIT: Nope, can only rewind Episode 1. Sigh.

It won't let you boot up any other episodes? Maybe delete ep 1?

Episode 3 works now, but I can only do it with randomized decisions. I'm just gonna fuck around with it until I get something that resembles mine.

EDIT: Of course it doesn't even fucking randomize the decisions. Fuck this shit, seriously.

Why dont you just play episodes one and two over again since its such a great "game"
Those buttery smooth mechanics MUST be revisited

While I enjoy playing it again, it's kinda like watching the penultimate episode to Lost and then discovering your DVD containing "The End" is actually a first season DVD.

I hope TWD at least has a better ending.

Not really, most games are no where near as good as you remember them, people basically chasing a memory of a time in their life when everything felt perfect in videogame land.

H2 just needs to be bumped up to HD. Add some AA. Improve framerate. That's it. Don't start adding new skyboxes and shit. Bloom all over the place and new art to replace to the old stuff. Leave it alone.
