how people remember a game is exactly how good that video game is to that person. if you compare older things to more modern iterations, nearly everything is "worse". but given that we don't live in a world where there's an objective overseer who determines the exact empirical quality of everything in the whole world, rose tinted glasses is a moronic argument

Yes and no.

Super Mario 64 was and remains a great game, so it would be difficult to make the argument with that title. However Turok was fun back in the day but now it is utter shit and you would be a masochist to play through the thing.

Also, moronic argument inception going on.

It's a re-design. And Brutes can be made as big as needed - see Tartar Sauce in H2.
Redesigning for no reason at all sucks. Tartarus was big, but never that big

I'd be willing to ditch Hunters altogether in favor of Brutes. At least Brutes have the potential to be fun to fight, instead of just annoying...

I thought the Halo 3 designs with the various armor looked cool. Not as cool as Elites, granted, but...
I liked the Halo 3 designs. I've said it before, but the feedback of stripping down shields has never been better presented and/or fun. With some tweaks to the AI, Halo 3's Brutes could've been amazing.

Reach's were just frustrating and dull.

Got a solid session in last night and once again wonder if I'm playing the same game that most here say they are.
I've been keeping track of Jip too. Out of the last 21 matches I played this week, 3 were Jip, 2 matches had host changes and 2 matches were laggy. So far I'm impressed.

I think it'd be interesting to redesign them as big beasts or introduce a new class in that vein since we don't really need another enemy that fills the same role of the elites / knights. Something huge you pepper in and keep distance from could be great.

Really? I thought they were a nice compliment to the improved Elites, slightly slower and less adept at dodging and taking cover, but more aggressive and able to take more damage. So they provided an equal level of challenge, but different tactics.

The art of building worlds is a much better comprehensive look at the art behind halo.

Halo 4 Artbook is ... limited in content but it has some nice discussions about the theory behind the art design.

Knowing what I do now id buy the art of building worlds over the Halo 4 book.

Both good to own I picked up the big CE's of both and I'v been impressed.

Interesting I was planning to buy an Halo Artbook but wasnt decided which one to buy I was interested in Halo Enciclopedia but I heard it had some issues with the lore, the Building worlds have some Halo Reach's art ? I really liked Reach's concept art.

I know, right!?! Half the time they were standing still. And I exclusively played on Legendary. So disappointing...

My theory is that they made the AI so complex that the AI is fighting itself on which action to commit to. In the end it's so confused that it ends up standing still.

I am not sure but the friendly IA is actually the enemy AI.

Its concept art from H:CE to Halo Reach.

If you have been following halo over the past few months id wager you have seen the vast majority of H5 Awakening.

only if it has ce auto aim levels

Yup, exactly the same weapon. That's one way it could work, otherwise you might have something similar to the DMR. Then if it's overpowered tweak it to a 4sk and experiment from there.

At this point why not try something like that? It's not like it would be difficult to remove from MM in a worst case scenario..

I just didn't like fighting them in Reach. Bungie removed what made them fun and turned them into stupid bullet sponges (See, Halo 2 Brutes) albeit without the berserking. Though admittedly I think that Reach's gameplay was pretty dull altogether, so it might not be a problem with Brutes specifically.

The Elite and Hunter redesigns were the only ones I think turned out definitively better, too bad Elite armor designs got much worse (in the sense that it's significantly harder to distinguish between ranks). Hunters seriously look great though, the shields and the look of the individual worms are awesome.

If we see brutes again, I hope they look like the one from the prologue, and that they don't get a third redesign.

Also Engineers need to come back, and 343 needs to not butcher their design like they did to Jackals.

maybe the halo 4 AI had to take a hit just like the scale did to accomplish the visuals.
Something had to give for that beautiful engine

i agree completely, and I'm not sure if the trade was worth it.

Had some good Oddball and Team Regicide games today. TR is definitely the best gametype that 343's come up with.

Yeah. The Spartans in Reach are the Elite AI, but slowed down to look more purposeful/human.

Imagine if Legendary had Heretic Elites. Nobody would have ever beaten the game. That AI is really freaking good at using human weapons.

I don't think it's that. It almost feels like they're bugged. They'll ignore you even if you're shooting them. They act a bit better when they can actually see you, but it's like they over-ignore any outside stimulus if they're not looking right at you or something. The AI is still like previous Halos where they can only consider one target at a time.

Firefight when they start spawning with Snipers and stuff is a real pain

Also known as the "Fuck your shit" / "Well, we had a good run" wave in FF matchmaking until Ghaleon sent them the NEP gametypes.

Don't know why the NEP just didn't become standard, but I guess that was a whole theme for 343's run on Reach's playlist

There were several instances in Firefight where Heretic Elites would shoot me out of the air in mid sprint jump with Rockets from past medium range and I always felt cheated. How the fuck could any enemy AI track my trajectory well enough at those ranges to hit me with a slow-ass rocket?

Because they do cheat. AI rockets home in on you.

Their sniping, DMR, and pro pipe usage is legit tho

edit: also Bungie are jerks for teaching Wraiths how to lead shots as of ODST.

and couldnt a hunter just throw on some more worms and get as big as it wants?

Unlikely. As far as I know Hunter Pairs are an entire colony. What your talking about is like if England wanted to be bigger so we added Scotland to ourselves but then Scotland is all like "ack nooo"

I always loved to fight Brutes, but in Halo 3 it got boring after a while. Juices said something about mixing up abilities of Covenant races. Like Elites holding Jackal Shields, Grunts going camo, etc and I like those ideas. Would add more variety and I love variety. Fact is, that Prometheans aren't fun to fight and they don't offer much variety, because it's always the same procedure over and over again.

We need more mixed up battles, more units and some actually big battles.

Also, this redesign of the brutes looks interesting, but like Hyper said, I wouldn't call that a Brute. I would make it a completely new unit.

I also want to see the flood returning, eventhough I didn't like to fight them in previous Halo games. Maybe their redesign will be good (if they come back and I'm sure they will) and maybe it will be fun this time.

But I'm not setting my hopes too high for Halo anymore. I was already disappointed with Reach and now with Halo 4. Both games could be very good/quite more enjoyable with some minor fixes.

Weren't the worms also part of a multiplayer map in Halo 3? The Covenant themed one with the scarab factory in the background. I think they were in like glass tubes or some shit. I can't remember the name of the map, but I think it was DLC.

You are talking about Assembly. Yes. Those were Hunter worms.

Assembly maybe? Haven't seen any worms in glass tubes there, but I never looked outside of the map, that much. Only thing I now is, that there is a light, which is morsing something like "love Bungie". At least, I was told so.

Edit: Have to play Halo 3 tommorow.

Yep, on Assembly red base was had worm tanks and blue had energy... things, and you could see them being used to build Scarabs above. You never really saw the worms being pumped up there or anythign, so it's still kind of unclear exactly how they're used.
