1. The theme can be interpreted as you see fit, but keep in mind others will be judging based on whatever criteria they see fit.

2. Only one photo per person, per assignment.

  • Photos must be taken during the assignment period.
  • Only photos to be posted in this thread are to be submissions.
  • You can change your submission by editing your post.
  • To avoid cluttering up the thread, please avoid quoting images.
  • Photos posted in assignment thread should be no larger than 1024 pixels on the long edge. You may include a link to a higher resolution version.
3. One vote for your first choice (3 points) and one vote for your runner-up (1 point), which can be based on any criteria you see fit. You cannot vote for your own submission. Non-participants are also welcome to vote. Criticism/comments encouraged.

4. The "winner" should come up with a new theme/time period. Ties are broken first by the number of first choice votes, then by longest time since last win start, then by longest amount of time participating in assignment threads.

5. Have fun!

Sad to see this forgotten. :(

Perhaps GAF has no interest in these types of challenges anymore? A real shame.

I think there are two issues, just going by the last 3 challenges:
1) It's becoming quite cold outside, that at least deters me from venturing outside with my camera much.
2) The past two challenges at first glance talk about taking pictures of another person. Going by myself that's a huge barrier to overcome. Coupled with bad weather, it's almost insurmountable.

Last chance bump.
Maybe the Thanksgiving holiday had a factor in the amount of entries.
That, or members do not really have access to other people for the subject matter.

Camera: Canon EOS 5D Mark III
Lens: Canon EF 24-70mm f/2.8L USM
Exposure: 0.01 sec (1/100)
Aperture: f/5.6
Focal Length: 50 mm
ISO Speed: 200

I vote that we give this until around the 15th of January to give everyone a chance to get Xmas/New Year out of the way and edit stuff that they took over the festive period?

hopefully I'm not too late with this entry! Got my first DSLR for Chrimbo so finally been able to take some photos after my trusty Powershot SX10 broke in November.

I was about to submit something, but it was taken a few years ago. Darn.

If this thread stays alive or the voting and submission is extended, I'd like to try out.

Definitely! I love participating in these so I hope they don't tail off again. Anyone who reads this if you have an appropriate shot POST IT! and cross post it in the main photography thread to get other people to participate!

Christmas should mean that a lot of people were shooting people smiling and laughing hopefully.

I have a pic I took back on Dec 7th... can I enter into this assignment? I mean I am not sure what the time period is, since its been so long already...

Just want to say, I fully agree that we should extend this until the middle of January. I'm happy to see more entries trickling in, and even shot something myself that I'm quite happy with.

:)

Really glad we're getting some entries now!

Should we set a final entry date? Sunday 13th January seems like an ok date to me then people would have that weekend to get any final submissions in.

Yay or Nay?

Yay. I'll make the change to the OP.

Whoa a two month window! I could probably muster up a photo during this period, even if it was a while ago (I KNOW I have taken some shots with this very them in mind ;) )

I'm terrible at portraits but figure I should at least have a go, this is my Niece :

I have a submission if it's not too late! Also, I -just- got a DSLR, so forgive me for a lack of proficiency.

Let the voting (finally!) commence!

14 entries in the end. Not too shabby. Hopefully the next challenge will have a bit more interest from the get-go:

1. Pringles - Beautiful colours, fantastic subject and great editing. Seriously a different level from all the other (still fantastic) images in the competition.

2. Damaged - really like the pose and the smile looks completely genuine.

First place: Aidan. I really love the juxtaposition of the two girls. Very striking photo.
Runner-up: trunbuns. The little girl is adorable, and the framing is so pretty.

Okay here goes,

1. Pringles Love the tone of the picture and the soft lighting

2. Aidan A really fun picture, love the idea

Honorable mentions to Photosynthesis - love the fact you cant see all her face, and to alterno69 - I really like the spontaneity of this shot

1. Trunbuns, lovely smile and framing even if it looks a little out of focus.

2. Pringles, great capture tho i think more about flirting, seduction than smiling when i look at it.
