A game's quality is measured by which plattform it was released on? That's bullshit. I put 40 hours into the 3DS version, that's more than enough to charge 50$ for.

The problem in this case is not that it was a 3DS game, but that it's offering not enough for a year old port.

It has the production value, content, and length of the other console REs. let's not forget to mention that it's leagues better than RE 6. Sure, the game shouldn't be priced this high but it has nothing to do with it being a handheld port and everything to do with it being a late port. Should be 30 dollars.

I totally agree.

So, platform limitations (graphics) aside you believe there's a large drop in quality between playing RE4, RE5, and RE:Rev?

Since the topic is about production values, little things like characters not moving their lips when they talk during gameplay (it's not the first RE game to do this, but still), the very spotty localization, and the limited number of unique locales does make it more of lower budget production than the console games. The game is definitely good enough to overcome those trappings, but it definitely doesn't have the same TLC as 5 or 6.

So it's a slightly less than full priced retail release + digital in some cases?
Interesting. Expected them to go even cheaper and have it just be download though.

Still, it's a great game so people should get it. One of my favourite 3DS games. I played it with the CPP (which I got included for the same price as it would have been for RE:R on it's own) and it played great. Definitely benefited from dual analogue.

Will wait for extra content details to see if I will double dip, but I have to say poor Vita. Everyone was expecting to be ported to the vita. Yet it's the only gaming system not getting the game.

I haven't played RE5 or 6 (last numbered game I've played was 4), but Revelations is very, very obviously a low-budget effort relative to the main games. Really low enemy variety, and a distinct lack of big setpieces.
Character's mouths dont even move outside prerecorded cutscenes.

Yeah, that was particularly glaring.

Now, whether it's a better game than the main entries is subjective, but claiming it's a numbered game in all but name is pretty silly.

Looks quite good, to me.

Granted, some low-res textures and some simple geometry here and there' but still darn good.

LOL, no. The game has more intricate plot, characters and cutscenes than RE4, not to mention a wide variety of locations (derelict ships, coastline, snowy mountains, an aquapolis, etc) across two timelines. It's also very thoughtfully constructed, from RAID on through the episodic framework of the campaign, all threaded together with themes from Dante's Inferno (Divine Comedy). Nothing feels "cheap" about Revelations.

This better make up for the travesty that they called Resident Evil 6. I remember seeing Revelations last year and wanting to play it but I don't play hand held games. I'm really glad they are porting it, good move Capcom you finally did something right.

Here, I'll bullet-point it for you:

- Lots of environments
- Lots of characters
- Complex story (by RE terms)
- Polished cutscenes
- Interesting structure
- Light, but appreciated, literary touches

Not cheap. Not low-budget. Hell, it's the first RE with an option for Japanese VA.

Will double dip at a lower price.

I even didn't pay full buck at launch when it launched in Europe including the CPP.

I enjoyed the demo, and I was always planning to get the 3DS version...but now that there's going to be a retail Wii U version, I think I might just wait and get that instead, even though it costs more.

Played it on the 3DS and loved the 3D effect, probably the best 3D affect at the time it came out (minus the ghosting). Will mostly likely buy this one again, if not for anything more than supporting good RE games.

Not sure how the gameflow will convert to a console experience though, due to how it was sorta cut up into "chapters"

I don't know if it's better than RE4 but I do feel it's pretty close.

Gotta wonder if the haters have actually tried the game though. Seems like RE6 syndrome all over again ;_;

I really wonder why they didn't take the weapon models from RE6. Laziness? Cheapness? It shouldn't be too hard...

I'm sure modders will do something on PC.
