Monolith Soft 3DS concept art revealed

Is it Honne? His signature isn't on it, and it doesn't really look like his usual art.

Anyway, this looks related to this Honne art from a year or so ago:

Must have been the prototype they ended up going with.

Nice hips.

Yeah, it could happen, but I'm just not expecting "X" out this year even for Japan. At least Monolith Soft seems to had a good amount of time to conceptualize it.

It's been in active development for 18 months, probably more. So a holiday release in Japan isn't outside the realms of possibility.

It was on Nintendo's 2013 release list and it's been in development since 2010. I'd be surprised if it isn't released in Japan this year.

Recently in the MS blog was a photo of Honne with plasticine model of Sedna from Baten Kaitos.

Why does he keep it? Or maybe it's a new model? ;)

That's beautiful. Sedna was one of the few locations in BKO that stood out (the ones one BK1 were better or more imaginative).

It looks to me like the characters in the new art could be the same ones in this art but redesigned.

Boss Doggie

all my loli wolf companions are so moe
Hahaha I'm more cracking up on the tree at the far right.

Is that some huge-ass snow owl?

Bottom right of the Pic says 'Illustrator: Yasuyuki Honne' so yeah, it's him. His sig may not be there if the picture is cropped down from a larger piece.

I need more than concept art to get excited about this mystery project. At best its probably 2 years off for the US and that's if it gets localized at all.

The trees with faces gives me a Golden Sun vibe.

Wouldn't mind that idea someone posted that its girls with Pokémon style Guardians.

Sugiura: So, entering the second year of operation, I've heard that Mr. Honne you have one big mission to accomplish, but do you mind talking about that?

Honne: Yes, that's true. But, we need to increase our numbers a little...I mean a lot.

Sugiura: I see. What sort of people are you looking for?

Honne:Yeah, at the moment we are requesting 3D CG designers, Effect Designers, and Motion Designers. I would really like someone who has 3D map modelling experience to be a part of that too. People with HD experience are also welcome.

Yamauchi: Someone who understands the techniques of HD machines, or with detailed technical knowledge would be good. Someone who can suggest 'Hey, there's this new technique you can use to do this,' would be a great help.

Bottom corner says "Illustration: Yasuyuki Honne."

Tic-tic Boom?

Honne: Currently as social games increase at a rapid pace,
and home gaming systems are under pressure,
designers with HD experience are having less and less
chance to use their skills, I think.

Given that, I would like people who still want to test their skills
to come here, because at Kyoto Studio, we still have many
oppurtunities for you to demonstrate your skills.

As we will continue to expand our Wii U and Nintendo 3DS projects,
we would like to invite you to come make them with us.
You won't have time to rest though, definitely. (laughs).

This was posted January 31st. With the Kyoto Studio staff.

It implies to me that they are working on a Wii U game as well as a 3DS one.

Sugiura: At our last interview, you spoke of a really positive relationship with Nintendo, that hasn't changed, has it?

Honne: Indeed. I think now that one year has passed since our establishment, we have developed a relationship of even stronger trust.

We're more easily able to conduct meetings or consultations,
and we're hearing stuff like 'Fix this part'
or 'make it more like this, or that' more often.

Uchiyama: Meetings are more frequent,
and each time when we hear what Nintendo focuses on in games,
or their development stances, we all think it's really cool
and want to become more like them.
In a good way, we're being inspired by them.

.

Awesome, but it doesn't confirm they are making one now, but it does mean they will make one for the future.

From the wording, it sounds like there's an idea/early planning being done on one.
