Oh boy, you will be one of the most fun juniors to watch in the coming weeks, I don't think you'll last long but I'll enjoy the lurking while it lasts.

I don't see many more posts coming from me in the coming weeks. This thread shown a pretty ugly side of this forum, and I really don't have an interest in talking to anyone here if this is representative of the posters as a whole.

Unintelligent and biased people don't hold my interest for long.

Hm, here I was wasting my time with a "Look, here's why your comparisons are getting more and more ridiculous" post... but with your attitude, I'd rather sit back and watch you self-destruct the moment you open your mouth in a more carefully-observed topic.

Is there something particularly wrong with the PC version?

Sega have one of the the best pricing strategy/policy of any big company these days and they still maintain their quality.
They have shown recently they can adapt and I hope it pays off for them, sales of the PC version of RT is hardly the measure I'd use to track that (or the quality of the game) though!

I didn't regret paying $40 for this on the Vita, until I played the pc version. I think it's a fair price.

The jury's still out on the online though.

Is there something particularly wrong with the PC version?

Legacy AMD users with graphic cards that predate the Radeon 4xxx series (Radeon 2xxx, Radeon 3xxx) have trouble running the game properly/missing many ingame elements.

Gamers with uber rigs having issues when the game runs beyond 60 FPS, game has to be capped to 60 FPS via Vsync to resolve those issues, which is problematic for users with 120 Hz monitors.

There was that issue with users from different regions unable to join MP games together.

Users that have certain gamepads with switchable DirectInput/XInput protocols (like the Logitech one) have the mouse drift issue at the launcher config screen, which makes it difficult to configure settings.

Some users were reporting crashes were rather common, no idea if that issue has been resolved for those effected.

Yeah...Nothing major though or out of the ordinary for a PC release from any game company.

edit - eh not sure how I missed the post but ok thanks for the more detailed reply ambientmystic. I hope the different region issue is sorted soon especially, can't have that.

There is an fps limiter for nvidia iirc, otherwise no ini commands for fps settings?

Hopefully these bugs will be sorted soon, doesn't seem that bad for a pc game unfortunately but yeah there are of lot of things you'd expect could go wrong and not everything supported from the get go. Strange about those amd cards..hopefully that can be fixed without needing to get amd to do anything (good luck for older cards).

Still overall, the game seems particularly good, and I see no reason why they would charge even less than they already have for a PC port. Sure you get more sales with a lower price but to go on attacking the quality of the game to make a point won't convince many people who have played it, Caporale.

Game is much better than I thought it'd be. Enjoying it much more than Mario Kart 7, which I did not expect (though to be fair I was pretty underwhelmed by MK7). Glad I waited for sweet 60fps goodness on PC, the console/vita demos were one step too sluggish for me to pull the trigger earlier.

I really hope they do a good amount of DLC for this.

This game looks godly good on PC. I seriously wasn't feeling it on the 360 maybe due to the 30fps?? Idk but I like it here. I'm shocked I even bought it but I'm enjoying it. MUCH better than LBP karting.

The only thing I can think of is that when Sumo did the port of Outrun 2 to Xbox, they learned a HELL of a lot about making a kart-style racer.

looking at screenshots, my shadows are a bit off compared to them. I have some odd dithering going on.

My settings are all high, the shadows seem kind of broken? Only some shadows are striped, and some shadows even seem to clip through the player model (most noticeable on Gilius). AMD

I have those weird dithered shadows and I'm using AMD as well. I might have a tinker with the settings and see what I can come up with. I know a few games crack the sads when having certain aspects on "ultra" or whatever the highest is, so I might try turning them down, see what happens.

Really hope at the very least the first game's cut characters are brought back via DLC to this game. For as cool as some newcomers like Joe and Gilius, there's quite a number of characters who just feel like last minute additions whereas the first game's characters felt more 'unique', if that made any sense. I think it helped they had their own All Star moves instead of just turning into plane mode.

If not then I'll take playable Ristar, Vectorman and Segata.

Seeing Ristar at the start of every race makes me sad

People are complaining about the price? It was available for $25 with $5 in credit on Amazon. If that's too expensive for a quality game at launch, then you need to find a new hobby.

It's just one tight-arse who feels $10 is the appropriate price for an excellent port of a full blown AAA console game in a genre PC gamers rarely, if ever get to see.

His stats are quite good. Shogun, TF2 and FM are very interesting characters to play even if they look out of the place.

I noticed that with the console mod equipped shogun's boost stat apparently goes over the regular maximum and has a white ring around it in addition to the white carats all being filled in.

I didn't check every character but I haven't seen anyone else with a "Maxed stat" like he has

He's nuts considering Nintendo gets away with charging $10 for N64 games on VC

Stop It

Perfectly able to grasp the inherent value of the fishing game.
The sheer amount of content is well worth the price.

Yes it is. I need to dedicate more time to it, and I will once they fix the accidental region locking but I honestly cannot believe that people are calling the value of the game into question.

I'm currently using the FM racer as it's very balanced but may move to one of my favourites from the last game, Amy if she handles well and can keep up. Tried Tails but he's a bit slow, heh.
Jesus! You can play as Football Manager.

FOOTBALL. MANAGER.

Fixed for pretty much everyone else who isn't from the US.

Is he/it actually called that in the US? I just figured it was called "Football Manager" everywhere.

I don't think they're out of place. Shogun isn't much different than Gilius, and football manager is just a dude. At least both are Sega characters.

I think the game could have done without Patrick, Ralph and the TF Team, as much as I love the latter. I hope they didn't get in at the expense of three sega characters :(

I'd also have not added Raela and Pudding and instead added the four multiplayer chuchus and Ryu. I understand the need for more female characters, but the original racing had a more diverse cast imo.

I wonder how easy porting racers from the original game is, if we'll see a "classic" pack with some characters who were dropped in the sequel return as DLC.

(scratches at StreamsEng.pck)

Not that they didn't try, but man I would like to switch out the TF2 voices for existing TF2 samples, and Ralph's voice for the movie voice, even if the quotes don't match.

The painful thing is, those are the original TF2 actors.

I haven't checked the credits, but are you sure of that? You don't just suspect it?

Pyro I can believe (the only time Valve's tried to recreate his voice, it sounded way off), Heavy I could possibly believe (but it was definitely an off day for him), the Spy? He sounds completely wrong at points, and an off imitation at best. And I KNOW he's done fresh voices that sound correct, as recently as Halloween (where the Heavy sounded off).

Even with that aside, Ralph is just too painful.

yea, it's the voice actors according to the credits.

the thing is, Valve filters Heavy and Pyro themselves (they lower Heavy's pitch and have a Pyro filter). They probably didn't give either to Sumo, meaning Sumo had to recreate them, and didn't do them that great. With Spy, I have no idea. Might have just been an off day. He also does Pyro btw.

Aware of Spy/Pyro, I've been following the series long enough to know that.

That aside, with no disrespect meant to the actors, I would still probably prefer to swap out the voices included in the game. Assuming one can.

I just had a funny bug? during a single-player GP, I got a Swarm on the second place but instead of "SWARM!" the announcer said "SKY TIGER!" o.o And well what is a Sky Tiger anyways?

Goron2000

best junior ever
Haha that's not a bug :) I asked the producer about this and he said a close friend of his calls wasps "sky tigers" and he thought it was a cool name so it ended up in the game.

I can certainly hear Gary's speaking voice with Heavy. It seems they just filtered it wrong.

I don't know why they didn't use the already recorded TF2 lines. Only Heavy says lines different from the game, and they could easily just swap out those lines for fitting lines from TF2.

Maybe a mod or something will come out

Ohh ahaha I see that's funny and fits somehow now that I think about it :D Nice that they put it in as a alternative then :)

I went on Steam to buy Antichamber, bit on this because the topic was open. $50 spent, there.

:(

Looking forward to playing with my girlfriend :). Is there any team mode?

Been loving it, but the one thing I will say is that it's not exactly a game that welcomes the casual player at all, not like Mario Kart at least. Some of those later courses have so much going on, and mastering the controls, with drifting, stunts etc. is no minor feat. Mario Kart 7 was easy to get into, and pretty easy to become a decent online player, I doubt I could say the same for this. Still, it's just soooooo much more fun than MK7, it really brings out the inner kid in me that loved Sega, and my only wish is for more courses, like Streets of Rage and Space Harrier.

Are there any plans at all for DLC courses?

I think there's already an Outrun track DLC and Metal Sonic character DLC out on consoles? It'll probably come to PC too since there's a DLC tab.

Wait, so are we "smart and assholes" or "unintelligent and biased"? I'd like a duel to death between Pachter and you, to decide once and for all under which category we fall. No items, Fox only, Final Destination.

Or a race on S&ASRT, given that we're on that game's thread.

Steam finished downloading yesterday, I played 5 minutes but my PC crashed (not to do with game, my PC has problems now and then), fraps/dxtory said 100fps+, but the game doesn't look smooth.

The same for anyone else?

Using triple buffering through d3doverrider or at least turn on in-game v-sync. People have been reporting issues leaving the FPS uncapped.

Alexios

Cores, shaders and BIOS oh my!
Can a cockpit camera be modded in this version? I didn't think to play a kart racer like that but I was watching some Mario Kart 7 videos and the cockpit camera looks awesome and fitting for such games too after all.
