Rayman Legends coming to Xbox 360/PS3, all versions releasing in September

Or, completely plausible option 3:

The development team is given more time to work on all versions of the game, including the Wii U version, in concert with the internal decision to port to all platforms.

Every game has bugs. Every developer wants more time to work on their product.
porting is cheaper than development. I doubt they're throwing infinite money at a game being sent to die.

You. Don't. Know. This.

OK then. In that case, Ubisoft were lying through their teeth two months ago when they delayed the game to February, and had no intention of supplying me with the software that I'd preordered for that time.

Either way, it is my right as a consumer to be irritated by this.

...And you seriously don't think the 7 month delay is completely separate from the multiplat announcement, do you?

Still without luck
Awesome news for me. I have no interest in buying a WiiU until maybe fall anyway, and I get new Rayman on a platform I already have. Yayuh.

Except that the game was slated for release very soon on the WiiU, and now it's being pushed back for a port that won't even likely include Murphy sections. It could be released on the WiiU, then released 7 months later on the 360 and PS3 just fine.

That's unsubstantiated speculation, but sure, believe in whatever angry imaginary reality you want.

Threads like this are why, as someone who works for Ubisoft and knows the kinds of people who put so much work into creating games only to see the outright shit devs get for wanting to better them and bring them to a larger audience, I can't help but dislike many GAF gamers.

I couldn't care less about porting it over, but why the delay? It should have been in printing as we speak.

I hope the distinct WiiU features aren't cut out in the end, because that would be a real shame.

People who buy GTA are not the same people who buy Rayman.

People? Who are these people? How do you know that people aren't in the same audience? Yes, the target audience is different, but let's not deny the fact that there are plenty of gamers who are into both games. Yes, GTA V has a bigger audience and a majority are probably not into Rayman or games of the sort but there are gamers who will have to decide between the two.

And it's not just GTA V. It could be other software that will release in that time frame. For example, Nintendo will have plenty of games out by then and Wii U owners will have to decide between those games or Rayman Legends. If Legends, at least on the Wii U, came out this coming month, then it probably would do better than coming out in September since there aren't any games on the Wii U now.

I couldn't care less about the mulitplatform thing but Legends was next on my to buy list because I'm desperate for it after playing the demo, holding back the no doubt finished Wii U version to September is some serious bullshit.

I was really looking forward to getting to play it at the end of this month, but naw, fuck me.

Just release the goddamn Wii U version on schedule and everyone else will get over it. I would hope so anyway. I guess I won't be getting this game anytime soon after launch, then. Too much going on in the latter half of this year.

I don't really get upset at gaming entities that often, but holy fucking fuck.

Well, I can only speak for myself, but I think I'm more upset that your super awesome company would rather delay a game that's ready for Wii U to fucking September just for the sake of having a simultaneous launch. I would've not only been sensible to launch the Wii U version on schedule, but it would have also been a nice nod to Nintendo, giving them a bit of a headstart on Legends sales.

I'm not upset that you're trying to bring the game to a larger audience. I'm upset that you're more or less shitting on the audience that you've been courting for the past year.

Like year ago.

Good news for me because I wanted the buy the 360 version anyway.

Bad news for the WiiU

I'd be inclined to call the decision to not release the WiiU version now and then announce the PS360 version in three months time for a September release a mistake. The WiiU version is apparently finished (it was due for next month, it better be finished), it's been one of the games that's been heavily promoted alongside the WiiU and it was going to launch in a far easier time period. Now, it's in danger of getting run over by the Q3 maelstrom, which will be particularly nasty this year with a new Grand Theft Auto and a new Modern Warfare, ignoring the possibility of new consoles and subsequent pile of games for said consoles.

That said, anyone who didn't see Rayman Legends being ported to every format under the sun eventually should have gone to Specsavers.

That's unsubstantiated speculation, but sure, believe in whatever imaginary reality you want.

So a game scheduled for this month needed seven more months of development despite nothing being said of it until the eleventh hour.

And it's everyone else living in an imaginary reality.

People are mad because the game is delayed, if it went multiplatform only and the Wii U version still releasing on Feb 26th it wouldn't be that bad.

Should people not be upset about a 6 month delay?

Its just the usual ragers I wouldn't sweat it much.

Can't you see why we're so disappointed in your management?
We were really looking forward to this and now we have to wait 7 months for the others to get it. Great.

It's disappointment being expressed here which equates to passion for your product. It's not us you need to be mad at. We WANT the game.

Please stop this bullshit! It's a goddamn resposibility of 3rd party's to help establish a bigger install-base as well, rather than just sit there and wait until something happens, especially during harware-launches, when all new consoles struggle!

People buy consoles to play GAMES! It's Ubisofts fucking resposibility as one of the early "supporters" of the Wii to be a part of those who PROVIDE those fucking games, so that people have an incentive to buy consoles. If you agree to being a early developer for a new console, then fucking stick with it!

ubisoft's responsibility is to make money, not to stand by nintendo's side in the rough times. if they think the game will sell better on the ps360 (that will probably have a install base of 160 million or something by then AND also to sell it on the wiiU, whatever the install base is in september), they will make that choice. and they did.

Wii U reminds me of the PS3 first year.

Same situation it seems.

Wii U already launched with 3 fantastic exclusives, and will have Monster Hunter Ultimate (which to me is a huge deal since I've never played the series, and it's the exclusive HD version if you count that as part of it as well).

That's 4 fantastic games (assuming MonHun doesn't suck) in first couple of months. My launch PS3 didn't see a fantastic exclusive for it until 2008.

But how's this good for ubisoft? They just doomed the wii-u version, not only is it coming out the same day as they other 2 version with huge users bases, but it's going to compete with gtav at the least.

They doomed the Wii U version? I don't know where you are getting this idea from. The Wii U's line up will not be much different in September than it is in March. Unless you are insinuating that you want the release to benefit the Wii U as a platform, releasing it for two additional consoles isn't dooming the Wii U version.

Please stop this bullshit! It's a goddamn resposibility of 3rd party's to help establish a bigger install-base

Only when they think investing in a platform will lead to long term benefits. Otherwise, they have no obligation.

I'm passing no judgement either way, because it's all speculation. What appears obvious tends to not be the case, or at least isn't the whole story. Games get delayed for enhancements, tweaks, polish, you name it, constantly. The point is, getting really riled up and angry about something unconfirmed and speculative is foolish and satisfies nothing but the release of petulant rage onto the internet.

Oh Jesus. So people who had pre ordered a game that is supposed to release in less than 3 weeks do not have the right to be upset?

Oh man. This ain't great for Nintendo. "Sorry for losing another exclusive and not having anything for you to play this month either, but here, have a look at this Google Streetview app we've been fucking around with. It's super keen."

4 games for an entire console in four months. I want you to really, honestly think about that.

Congratulations ubisoft, you've sold me a New Super Mario Bros. U!!
I was waiting to see which game would be better, but now it has no sense since I want a platformer game for when I'm done with Darksiders 2.
If the game it's worth it, maybe I buy it on september, but having Mario I think that I will prioritize other games from different genres.

Still near double the games both PS3 or Xbox360 had at the same period of time.

It was obvious that the title would be released on other platforms eventually, but I didn't think that they would arrive to the point of delaying the WiiU version to match the release of the added versions.

Well, Ninty, better beef up that Virtual Console promotion quick. Losing a marquee exclusive, and not having a major release U owners were looking forward to is a real pisser. Give us something to play, and learn how to cooperate with 3rd parties while you're at it, numbnuts.

Are you confirming that the game is nowhere near complete?

I'm happy that it's coming to other platforms (because that might eventually lead to a PC version) but it's funny how you're trying to spin this.

No!! No fucking way, No!!

This is fucking bullshit! Absolute, grade-A fucking bullshit!! I've had this game pre-ordered since September of last year, thinking it was going to be a launch title and they pull this bullshit?! No. Fucking no. This game is ready to go on Wii U. It's done. It's pretty much ready to ship. They can't lie about that.

This game was my game of E3 last year. It was the #1 reason I bought a Nintendo Wii U in the first Goddamn place. Now they're gonna fuck over their customers by announcing a delay 3 weeks before it was gonna launch? Fuck that, I'm writing letters and so should you.

Write to Nintendo. Let them know how important a title this is NOT to be delayed again. Let them know you may just trade in your system if this game does not come out on it's expected date.

Write to Ubisoft. Let them know how much you've been waiting and wanting to play this game. Tell them that they're fucking over their fanbase by delaying this game just to appease to the dudebro crowd. Tell them if they go along with this, you will NOT buy a new copy and wait until you can get it used because if they do this, they won't see a god damn dime of my money.

This is NOT the news I needed to wake up to right now. God damn you Ubisoft.
