Rayman Legends coming to Xbox 360/PS3, all versions releasing in September

Well sorry for not liking be treated like a second class citizen. I don't know their reasons all i know is that this game was coming out at the end of February and now its not. So im going to be pissed because i was looking forward to playing this with a group of buddies who played the store demo with me and were looking forward to it.

I believe it even states in their press release that the Wii U version will be the definitive version when it releases in September alongside the other 2 versions. If anyone is being treated poorly, it's the poor schmucks buying it on 360/PS3.

Wait, when the hell was this ever a Wii-U exclusive? I thought they just debuted the trailer for the Wii-U.

They never mentioned that the game was exclusive or NOT coming to the 360/PS3.

No one with a functioning mind ever thought this was exclusive, it's a sequel to a game that hit every platform under the goddamn sun. I'm sure there's a few angry diehards that are BLOWN AWAY BY THE BETRAYAL but like I said, functioning mind.

I'd imagine more people are upset over shelving a completed product. Although... that's historically a practice Nintendo themselves participated in fairly often, so it's a bit silly to get all worked up about it. Although, right now, there's probably quite a bit of angst over it now due to the fairly bleak Wii U schedule for the upcoming months, that's why you don't early adopt consoles and try to lean on them, kiddos. I have a Wii U because I will want all the juicy Nintendo releases, but development takes time and Nintendo is first in class at droughts. I just can't get upset anymore because it's not like there's any shortage of releases on other platforms. I miss the days when I could say I had nothing to play, now I just shovel the shit onto the backlog and shrug.

ULTROS!

People seem to like me because I am polite and I am rarely late. I like to eat ice cream and I really enjoy a nice pair of slacks.

Won't the poor shmucks be the Wii U owners since this game got delayed even if it was complete already and the PS3 and 360 can get to experience the game and had no intention on buying the Wii U. :p

What problems? That some people who anticipated a Feb release now have to wait a little longer, and in return Ubisoft will probably make more money and possibly afford to make another game? Ubisoft's bottom line >>>> hurt feelings. Unless you meant the problem with the demo only having 30 plays from now until September. That's a very real problem that they should rectify.

You honestly think Legends will make more money on Wii U being released in September, rather than now?

Are you arguing that the increase in install base between now and September would outweigh the crowded competition from Nintendo first-party titles, GTAV, and the impending release of next-gen consoles? The missed opportunity of being the only high quality Wii U release for the next few months for a starved audience?

Or are you arguing that 360/PS3 users would be insulted at the early Wii U release and would boycott their late port, outweighing the copies sold from the early Wii U release?

Or do you think those advantages are not worth the costs of two separate marketing campaigns? (Assuming that there will be a marketing campaign worth mentioning...)

What both you and Ubisoft are deliberately neglecting (or unaware of) is there have been instances in where third-party exclusives for Nintendo consoles commercially outperform their multi-platform successors, due to the hypersensitive nature of hardcore Nintendo fans relative to exclusives, and I believe Rayman Legends had met all the pre-conditions to join the ranks of those successful third party exclusives.

Of course, there's no way to know for sure at this point, but would the commercial performance of the upcoming Lego game for the Wii U be an adequate measuring stick to test this possibility?

Ubisoft denying you the right to marry the Rayman of your choice?

Why delay the game then, I don't care if its a multiplat thats fine I think anybody even with half a brain expected that but they never expected A completed game to be shelved for seven months just for inferior ports I've never seen such a thing before, just goes to show you how ubisoft sees the Nintendo fanbase as not as important as the PS360 fanbase.

Let us assume that you are right and that you know more than Ubisoft's marketing/financial analysts.

So.. in that case Ubisoft made a bad financial calculation. That is all. People are acting like Ubisoft is trying to ruin their lives or sabotage the WiiU or some shit.

Not to mention the price of the port anyway.

I just don't see a universe where there were SO MANY people demanding PS360 ports of this one exclusive game where Ubisoft would have thought it was a good idea to DELAY the one that was either done, or almost done.

I'm pretty amused that we've actually gotten a Ubisoft defense force from this, though. It's clear it was a shit decision.

That contradicts what everyone is trying to convey in this thread. They're not going to "fuck Ubisoft over by not buying it in September" because it's going to be on other consoles. They're doing it because the game is being delayed. Or so they say. Regardless, that install base will still be incredibly thirsty for games in September. Incredibly thirsty.

Because Ubisoft believes launching the games simultaneous will net them more sales then having two launches.

What they see is that the ps360 sales will make up for any sales lost for the wiiu version being delayed.

Ah I forgot about that, but...ya never know, lots of surprising stuff have happened this year like Project X Zone getting localized, wouldn't surprise me if some months after the game's release it comes for next gen consoles if not PS3 and 360.

Mass Effect was funded and published by Microsoft . but still end up on PS3 because Bioware owns the IP.

sega won't let Nintendo use its IP for nothing. if that IP had no value then why is Nintendo using it? owning IP is very crucial for publisher portfolio . No one lets other use its IP for nothing. bayonetta engine that platinum developed was funded by sega. And I am assuming that same engine with upgrade will be used for B2. you think sega who owns the IP and helped partially funded for the enginen that platinum created is just saying "whatever Nintendo go ahead its all yours"?

Not saying it will be ported because I have no idea what deal sega had with Nintendo. And it's also different situation from RL. but, it has happened before as my Mass effect example and it could happen again here with B2.

I'd say most of the people calling a dramatic boycott on the company will buy the game in September regardless :p

This is a good point.

All the people saying this game will be buried on Wii U in September, what evidence are they providing of a calvalcade of Wii U games hitting thhat month?

Yes, I am arguing that Ubisoft made a bad financial decision. I think it will ultimately be self-defeating.

Beyond that, I personally don't really care. I have an enormous backlog to get through. (Even on Wii U, I still have to get all the Star Coins in NSMBU, and I want to pick up ZombiU. Not to mention my Steam library...)

The people threatening a boycott are Wii U owners.

They will not be playing GTA.

Yea, because Wii U owners couldn't possibly own multiple consoles???? I'm a Wii U owner who will be skipping Rayman to play games on both Wii U and other consoles.

This is a good point.

See post above. Hopefully people who are saying they will be playing other games aren't resting all their hopes on Wii U...

Yup. We'll be playing the Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker remake, possibly either or both a 3D Mario and Mario Kart 8. Those are likely near the end of the year. However Nintendo does release games in August/Sept. That game will likely be announced at E3 and it's a good chance that could very well be Retro's game. There is no room for Rayman Legends come the fall as far as the Wii U is concerned.

Everyone else and even some Wii U owners there is GTAV and Sony and Microsoft's console launches.

Rayman has been sent to die. Period. This was the window of opportunity and it's now gone after this.

Oh, plenty of us will.

And it's not really a formal boycott on my part, just the simple fact that there's no room for it now before the end of the year, so I may as well wait until it's cheap, if I do indeed buy it.

And still they pushed this game back. Tells you much they think wiiu owners will buy their games

You know its funny i remember that there was supposed to be a 3ds Assassins Creed game that was scraped and became assassins creed revelations because the 3ds wasn't selling well. Then later have the gull to make a Psvita Asscreed game when its was doing worse then the 3ds was a year earlier, goes to show what they think of the Nintendo fanbase and history repeats itself.

They're sabotaging Ancel's game by releasing it -again- during the worst time possible. Also, no BG&E2 for anyone.

This is if Wii U owners -only- have Wii U and don't anticipate the other consoles and games for PS360 during that period. Right now, there's nothing on the new bought system and generally you prefer to buy games for it.

Rayman was already set to die on a anemic install base of wii u. ubisoft is counting on adding a huge install base. Many on 360/ps3 who enjoy a good platformer will pick this up. I personally will be picking on my WiiU.

And guess what, I am pretty sure there is no restriction on buying just one game a month. Will also get GTA.

Ubisoft made financial decision which makes a lot of sense. Dickish move , no question about it. But it's obvious the exclusive talks broke down, so Nintendo has an equal hand in it. it's there platform.

You're assuming that the people who own a Wii U don't own other consoles and considering that a lot of the people on this site are hardcore gamers that not very likely.

If they are hardcore gamers, I hope they have better taste than just to be playing this game as a filler because nothing better is put. Origins was amazing. To imply Legends is only worth it as filler between big releases is doing it a huge disservice.

I remember Origins selling so well before and not being bomba prices a month later oh wait.

Or maybe people don't like being told repeatedly that a game is going to be an exclusive, and then told a concrete release date, and then 3 WEEKS before the game is released, to be told that it was all just a lie.

Also, people wanted to play the game. It looks amazing. It was my most anticipated Wii U game of the launch window. So yeah, I'm pretty angry.

I mean, it's kind of a shitty thing to switch things up on the fans like that, but who honestly expected this game to remain exclusive to the Wii U?

I loved the first one, playing it through with my old roommate was truly an amazingly fun experience - so I'm excited to play this one, too. But if I play it in 2 weeks or in 8 months, it's all the same in the end, isn't it?

People were looking forward to a game just weeks from release and are now told they have to wait till September. Is it really so hard to understand why they are annoyed. Or are you saying you've never looked forward to anything ever?

I'm a Song of Ice and Fire fan, bro. Patience is a virtue.

I think most of us are saying we won't buy it in Sept. That's not to say we won't pick it up after it drops in price however, since there aren't a lot of games out right now that I'm interested in I was going to pick it up day one. Now it's a wait and see if I can get it at a cheap price I'll consider it...

All I'm saying is that there are far more popular franchises releasing around that time and when given a choice between Rayman and those bigger games most people are going to pick the bigger game.

Didnt Ubisoft say it was profitable?

That's because it was originally supposed to be a downloadable title so it didn't take them much money to make.

Delaying it for Wii U, even with some extra content is foolish. Who knows what kind of lineup Nintendo will have this fall? They could release Mario Kart and a 3D Mario this fall for all we know. Rayman wouldnt stand a chance.

now imagine only WiiU install base. And the obvious business decision would make sense.

Not coming very far from launch and being hyped to hell since before the wii u launched and also by the excellent demo It would've sold a more then 50 thousand copies and been more profitable then origins. Also It becoming a multiplat saw it coming a mile away but the delay who the hell would do that?
