Mario spinoffs? In name alone maybe, but Luigi's Mansion 2, M&L: Dream Team, and Mario Golf are three COMPLETELY different games in reality. As a Nintendo fan, having:

FE: Awakening
Brain Training: Concentration
Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon
Animal Crossing: New Leaf
M&L: Dream Team
Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D (Wii port)
Mario Golf 3DS

All coming in the first half of this year is pretty great, especially when you sprinkle in titles such as EO4, Zone, Lord of Shadow, Lego City, etc. + eSHOP titles like Kaboosh, Harmonyknights, and Dillion Rolling Western Last Ranger.

When we normally get just one game of a really good franchise like Mario&Luigi and Mario Golf per generation, I don't think it's difficult to understand why people are excited. These are not games that we are getting every year.

Donkey Kong Country Returns was a mediocre platformer and everything else announced was rehash or bleaugh. Glad the hardcore fanbase is excited, but I'm sad.

A new M&L, new huge dlc for SMBUL, mario golf on the go, LM2 online looks great, and some new eshop games. I'm happy with this direct.
