What is GAFs opinion on the Gamecube controller?

I just re-bought a classic purple Gamecube Controller after giving my old one to a cousin, and while holding this thing again I was reminded of how ergonomically well designed it is.
Its so comfy my hands just melt into it!!
The wide and curvy handles that fill your palms just right

The long, concave triggers that perfectly wrap along and around your fingers. That huge, inviting A button and sturdy stick

Besides the tiny D-pad and wierd feeling Z-button, I love everything about it (yeah, even the C-stick is cool). Its also very sturdy and feels very well built.
Bonus controller porn pic below because on top of all of this, its one fucking gorgeous looking controller IMO

I should point out that I skipped the Gamecube back in the day (PS2 only owner back then), and only slowly started catching up during this gen on the Wii. I had no idea it was so good.
I kinda wish they kept this general design on the WiiUs Pro controller instead of going the 360 route.

NGHHHH

Personally my favourite out of all the controllers I've ever used. It fits perfectly in my hand, I love the button placement for everything bar 2d fighters and it's just all-round well designed. Even the c-stick which many people have an issue with, I personally find fine.

I hate those circles on the analog stick. Whoever came up with that idea should be punched in the neck.

Other than that, the control is fine. Not good, just fine.

Loved it. The wavebird is still my favorite wireless controller. I click on, it works, I click off, it's off. No 5 second delay.

It's an excellent controller outside of the second stick. I don't know if there's another controller that fits my hands so perfectly.

I like the feeling of the buttons.. The lack of a second Z (to make bumpers) hurt the experience. But the biggest flaw is the C stick. Completely terrible for FPS.

I love it. I hate the dpad, I'd kinda prefer L and R to have less room between fully pressed and fully unpressed.

I always see complaints about the z button, the buttons, and the octagonal gates. The first I don't really get, but ok. The latter two, those people are crazy.

As said, the ergonomic feel of it is pretty impressive.

It's my favorite controller besides the Wiimote. Followed closely by the 3DS scheme.

I love that 8 way chamber for the stick. Wrote about that here.

I love the shoulder buttons, though they were used well rarely.

I love the C-stick in Sunshine, Melee/Brawl, Luigi's Mansion and more.

I love the face button layout immensely.

It's just not very good for FPSs. Oh well.

On the most part I liked it.

Pros:
- Great button layout, if a bit unusual.
- Nice triggers, but a bit on the loose side maybe.
- Comfortable.

Cons:
- No pressure-sensitive buttons.
- The octagonal frame around the L-stick and C-stick were lame.
- No clicky buttons on the sticks.
- No extra button on the left side of the controller like the Z button.

Honestly, it's a shame we didn't see an evolution of the design in future generations, because I think overall it's a nice layout.

Just held it in my hands today, and honestly it's not good:

- bad button layout
- clunky analogue sticks
- terrible d-pad
- weird ass shoulder buttons

The only good thing about it is the ergonomics

Hated the kidney-shaped buttons and the nipple. The shape was nice though and a big improvement from the dreadful N64 controller.

The most ergonomic controller I've ever held.

Even the face buttons placement was kind of interesting. Most games really do have two main buttons. I liked the extra-click feature on the triggers. Things that are dumb are the octagonal borders for the sticks and the lack of a left shoulder button, that's just stupid.

The only thing I didn't really like about it was the D-Pad. Everything else was perfectly fine.
Ayup. The dpad was the only negative. Maybe the awkwardly placed Z-trigger as well?

I really liked the button layout for the most part; a few games floundered with it but the whole primary, secondary and ancillary design was silky smooth incredible when it worked right (which was most of the time).

I do not enjoy it (the A-button is awesome, though). The sticks feel off, the handles are too small (my right wrist is damaged, so I need 'em 360-sized), not a fan of the d-pad, the triggers are too... squeezy.

Yeah, um, there's really nothing I enjoy about it.

Awesome grip, better than all the controllers I've held. Button placement not so hot. Lack of (additional) trigger button hurts multiplatform games.
