i thought it's prequel? i mean since the main character in sotc i guess becomes the 1st of the horneds? it's such an old game do i need to spoilerify those?

You agree with me on everything except the meaning of the word prequel... I'm not sure if that's because I've had a few or...

Wander and Mono start the line of "cursed" children (horned children) that eventually leads to Ico being born. In that way, Ico is a chronological sequel to Shadow of the Colossus, despite having come out first.

Who knows. He has been unable to deliver a product for eight years, and who knows how many more years to come. I expect him to leave the gaming industry. For some reason I imagine him directing an animated movie.

Kagari preorder confirmed.

Maybe he'll give Yuri Norstein a run for his money.

Ueda once mused about the idea of creating a toy for children. I'd be curious what he'd come up with given his uncommon way of seeing things.

Anyone going to that event with Ueda, Mizoguchi and Eric Chahi tonight in Tokyo?

I wanted to make a topic earlier but forgot, and since it's in two hours... Yeah, sorry.

Kenny Linder, a former employee of Big Big Studios, working on The Last Guardian said that the game was planned for the PS3, but formed two years now for the next generation console, PS Orbis.

Site looks dodgy though. Not sure if true!

Info is from this thread, but site is dodgy as hell, I can confirm it. It just reproduce information from other sites without any sources, also they're formally polish site without any credibility and now I see they trying to conquer english side of the internet :) Their normally using for eg. my site as for "sources" without any research, so "move along, nothing to see here".

Ico is a Shadow of the Colossus sequel.

I know what you meant, but noooo. That would be such a waste of talent. Any reason they could gin up for why the colossi were back would be awful.

oh I didn't know that. Haven't really played ico more than an hour and SotC last time when it was released. I just thought they take place in the same universe but have no real connection.

I think Ueda said in some interview that he doesn't want to make sequels, only new original games.

I'm really not sure this deserves a thread, so here I go;

Came back from that Chahi/Ueda/Mizuguchi conference a little earlier. It was nothing really big, but pretty interesting if you like these creators and their vision of video games. The pitch was basically to debate about video games as a form of art.
Ueda and Mizoguchi introduced their games, but Chahi actually talked about his artistic influences and how he traveled a lot during the 2000s: crossing the Sahara, exploring freaking volcanoes... All of which inspired him to make From Dust.

They talked about their vision of games as a art, art itself, game development... Also the changing/changed relationship between devs and pubs: what you can/can't do (anymore) when working for a pub (concepts, genres, length, "value", things like that) and the resulting resurgence of indie games and studios Chahi's influence (they praised him HARD, he couldn't handle it lol), things like that. T

Funny bit: They were talking about how Ueda's games don't have a lot of dialogue, and as Ueda said he was influenced by Chahi's narration style in Another World and Heart of Darkness, Chahi replied that he initially only went this way because he was a really timid guy that had troubles express himself and couldn't write dialogue if his life depended on it (at the time) ahahah

They briefly mentioned the future, but only talking about very vague concepts. Nothing about games in dev now or even in the foreseeable future. Chahi said he was going back to the basics since he finished From Dust, doing things by himself and getting back into programming.

After the conference, there was a live by musician 2080 in the institute' brasserie. Mizuguchi came to check briefly (at least I think I saw him) but Ueda and Chahi stayed. Both were pretty cool and Chahi talked with a lot of people. Got a picture with the guy!

Basically, it was nothing news-worthy, but something any gamer who like these guys would have wanted to see IMO.

Wow those three together in a conference, how awesome. Eric Chahi is a proper video game hero.
