Do you guys think the 3rd parties(EA and Ubisoft) are going to screw us into $70 games?

I know this is a placeholder price but Amazon has listed Watch Dogs on PS4 for $99.99 on their website. Should we be worried about a price increase and would Amazon really have any inside information on something like this?

Its a placeholder so they don't have to honor cheaper preorders in case the prices are raised next-gen. Basically, Amazon has no clue what the games will cost.

Amazon doesn't exactly have the best track record of predicting prices prior to launch. They do not have any inside information about this kind of thing, it's just a place holder.

$100 price is just a place holder. Amazon does not know what next gen games are going to retail for and therefore do not want to set the pre-order price too low because they would have to honor it. $100 is a safe bet for them, because they know it will probably be lower so they won't lose out and can lower it once retail prices have been announced. The customer doesn't lose out either because you will pay either retail or whatever the lowest price is between now and launch.

I have seen 99$ price tags on many games when they are just recently announced. I've seen it on games from this gen.

These are placeholder prices so they don't estimate too low and have to sell you the game below what MSRP is. There is no way they will be $100.

IIRC WiiU had $99.99 games also at first...

come on...it's Amazon. most yo can get from them putting pre-order pages this early is a computer glitch that brings the price lower than retail price.

I do this for every game, and sometimes, for no apparent reason the game will dip to 40 for a day, only to get back to 60 when it launches.

I'm just hoping 3rd parties don't try to up us to a $70 standard, I just find it strange that even Amazon would take this precaution.

That observation is not thread-worthy either, pre-order pricing for Wii U games was in very similar regions. Retailers are trying to play it safe, they can always lower the price - but not increase it without disgruntling customers.
