Amazon Expecting $99 PS4 Games?

It doesn't affect me because i never pay full price. Just wait a couple of months and you can get the games on the cheap (or for someone like nintendo just wait until you see them on special somewhere). There are so many quality games out there and my current library is so big, i never need to buy a game day 1.

Why are they allowing reviews on it?

That's insane.

No! But making a thread about PS4 Games pricing based on an amazon price declared placeholder by amazon itself comes close...

Edit: And just to be crystal clear - this isn't thread whining, this is fud whining...

You guys do realize that the first thing said in the OP is "I know this is a placeholder price".

My point is do you guys think the 3rd parties are going to try to screw us into $70 games?

Then you should have asked that question in the title really, you used a title people would come in for knowing full well it was a placeholder then wonder why people ignore your actual question, its pretty much like games news sites that use titles that have nothing to do with the actual article content just to bring in hits.

Install base maybe? There's a good few million to sell Watch Dogs to on PS3 compared to the current nothing that the PS4 has.

Reading the OP fail, I'm asking if people think Ubisoft or EA is going to try increasing the standard game pricing to $70.

Do you guys only read the thread title?

Thread title fail: "Amazon Expecting $99 PS4 Games?"

Tried to change it once I realized this but it didn't work... sorry I've been up for a while.

You edited the OP multiple times though. Picture, bold, quote, who can keep up?

I added a picture and a quote and made the main question bold wasn't trying to confused anyone.

You'd think this wouldn't be a talking point but here we are.

Placeholder. If some folks watched interviews and kept themselves semi informed, they would know that games aren't going to cost 100.

Games prices aren't going to go up.

Thread title fail then: "Amazon Expecting $99 PS4 Games?" when it should have been "Will Ubisoft or EA raise the standard game pricing to $70?

edit: But I'm going with my original guess of FUD - The discrepancy what you supposedly wanted to discuss, your original op seen here:http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showpost.php?p=48329138&postcount=39 and the thread title are making it a little bit to obvious.

If the cost of game development dramatically increases are we being naive or unreasonable to not expect the cost of games to rise as well?

Don't some games need to sell 2+ million now just to break even?

$100 per game is a bit extreme but I wouldn't be surprised if game sales rose a little bit, maybe by $10.

I was thinking about this earlier, how much I would be willing to pay for a good console or a good game? Would I rather pay minimal price but have developers closing everywhere or pay a lot more to sustain a healthy market...

lol you changed the OP... lol
this is how it used to look.

is your OP also a Placeholder untill you decide to change it..?

That wasn't the original OP he deleted the text, in fact the original OP didn't have a picture in it.

Placeholder threads for placeholder news.

You still haven't read the actual question have you?

All I did was add a picture as I thought I might as well so people didn't have to go to the link and I added Jack Tretton's quote and a link.

I know this is a placeholder price..

OP, why do you ask questions when you already know the answer?

That's nice, I don't even buy gamed at 59.99 anymore.
Seems the OP is catching some heat, I wonder if he is the same guy that used to post on N4G.

Browse his post history, look at his avatar and you'll get a clearer picture.

This is not a troll thread against Sony, I'm seriously asking if people think 3rd parties are going to raise the price of their games to $70 this coming generation, this affects both Sony and Microsoft.

My avatar is a joke.......

I read it and already answered........in my first post.

Then please explain the Thread title?

"Amazon Expecting $99 PS4 Games?"

when it should have been
"Will Ubisoft or EA raise the standard game pricing to $70?

to be honest I remeber OP from my Forza Central days, more than a little bias is implied, but still there is a point of is the industry on a whole going to raise the prices of games again??

No game is worth $100. None. As someone else put it in this thread, $60 is already pushing it. Specially when games normally are like 5 hours long.

Been up all night and at first didn't think it was that heated of a thread title, I'd be happy if a mod or admin will change it to that. Are you guys honestly pretending that you don't have a bias at all?

I'm the only one that uses the name as far as I know and yes that is me. Of course I have a bias but I still want a PS4 right now looks awesome actually.

so the tide is back on Sony?

being serious: no way!!

This isn't anything against Sony this is about Sony and Microsoft's next-gen consoles.

If Watch Dogs costs more on PS4 it will cost the same on X720

Been up all night and at first didn't think it was that heated of a threat title, I'd be happy if a mod or admin will change it to that.

It would be better to just lock this thread.

There is no news here, you even acknowledged the price being a placeholder. There could be a discussion about next gen. game pricing but the thread is already tainted by bias from every side. Including from you OP considering the title.

Sorry about the title I really didn't mean to start a flamewar...

Sorry about the title I really didn't mean to start a flamewar...

No worries, and please there is no need to apologize. I do think there is place for a discussion about next gen game pricing, but considering how passionate discussions about next gen have been lately it's better to be careful about the OP and title.

I'm not a mod, if they see fit to change the title and let the discussion continue they will do so.

no flamewar Gaf has reserved that for E3 and beyond but we just see the agenda behind the thread, but again if you said the Industry as a whole nobody would have a problem

lol @ that thread title.
If that isn't starting arguments here.

And as others said, 99$ is just a place holder.

Probably not even Ubisoft knows at this point of time, at which price point they might sell their next gen games.

I'm being 100% truthful here there was absolutely no agenda behind this thread at all, in fact I plan on buying a PS4.

Here you go from yesterday - Analysts predict game price increase for super AAA, Pachter would applaud publishers ;-)

Leave it to Patcher to applaud Publishers increasing game prices.......

Your link isn't working.

Final Fantasy III (VI) retailed at like $79 when it released for the SNES.
Phantasy Star IV was around $89 I think.

I'm no stranger to pricey games. :p

I'd pay $100 for Tales games, Yakuza, and Elder Scrolls titles. That's it. I doubt it'll be 100 but if they want me to buy like one game per year, that's a good way to do it.

Do you guys think the 3rd parties(EA and Ubisoft) are going to screw us into $70 games?

I know this is a placeholder price but Amazon has listed Watch Dogs on PS4 for $99.99 on their website. Should we be worried about a price increase and would Amazon really have any inside information on something like this?

Lock if old.

No, its just a place holder price. If you were following Amazon on twitter during the Sony Press Event on Feb 20th, you would have seen the tweet where amazon said dont worry that $99 is just a place holder.

I recall at least one wii u game being listed at 99.99 prior to launch.I fully expect we will be paying more for games but only in the same ways we've been exposed to this gen on an even larger level (dlc, season passes, yadda yadda )
