EDIT: The reason why the iPhone 5 Isn't in the comparison
AnTuTu isn't on iOS, but on Geekbench it's in Galaxy S III range.

Where would Sony's Yuga and Odin be on that bar chart? I kinda want to switch to Sony phone since I love the sleak desing but I have only heard good things about Galaxy S line-up... They do look ugly but other then that they all seem to be quality phones.

great news that they went with their own exynos instead of the qualcomm one. Hopefully it stays that way when it releases here in the states. Now just need to find away of getting one even though my contract doesn't end for another year.

Was just typing that, but I was too slow.

I suppose iPhone 5 would be first. Otherwise it'd be on the graph.
I doubt that, id say the 5 and S3 were evenly matched, maybe im wrong, not sure

I am curious, but I dont know
Where would the iPhone 5 be in that benchmark?

It was on and Android website, so I can only assume they wouldnt dare compare, id guess its around the S3 territory

AnTuTu is not available for iOS, fools.
I can write a small application for Android that only runs on the Galaxy Sfour and all it does is render a graph with a value of nine billion megapoints.

Surely that proves that the Sfour is the most powerful device in the known universe. It's the phone Galactus would use.

Equivalent to the Optimus G.

It's not really 8 cores. There are 4 low power cores (A7) handling light tasks and if more power is required, these are shut off and 4 high power cores (A15) are enabled.

Even better IMO. I can only imagine the beastly battery life on this thing. I got a Nexus 4 two weeks back but I'm starting to regret it a little.

AnTuTu benchmarks have been ran for years.

The screenshots come from a Nexus 4. Please just leave this thread if it does not interest you.

Fair enough.

I suppose the Sfour with those kind of specifications is an unrivaled powerhouse at this juncture? Or does someone else have plans for a similarly powered device? HTC?

AnTuTu is an Android-specific benchmarking tool.

There isn't really that much of a difference imho, the iPhone was released after the S3 so there will be a slight lead.. They're both great phones and I went with the preferred OS.

This is an 8 core A9 based processor I'm assuming? I can't imagine it being an A15.
4 A15, 4 A7.

It's a huge gap in graphics performance, not a slight lead. We're talking about benchmarks that would evaluate graphical performance. The announced Exynos 5410 spec just about matches the A6 in graphics performance (544MP3 vs 543MP3).

I wonder how the Note 3 will compare (besides screen size, of course). I have my 2-year upgrade ready but i think i should wait. What do you guys think?

Really wish these killer phones would release a 4"ish edition :( My current GSII is as big as I'd ever want a phone to be.

Yeah, Apple's always put a lot of horsepower in to the GPU, moreso than the CPU. They've been pretty much best-in-class since the 3GS for GPU horsepower. The iPhone 5 CPU is outstanding for a dual-core but most of the benchmarks used to demonstrate it above - Sunspider and BrowserMark - are so strong due to software optimization in Safari, not the CPU. Raw CPU benchmarks place it slightly below the Galaxy S III.

I would rather pay $350 for a nexus 4 and pay $30 a month for phone service then $300 for a galaxy IV and pay $70 for the same service. But that's just me.

Pretty much this. I was about to make the same post, but I'll just put the link I was going to post in this reply.

Thought something was up...

Anything over 4" is just completely useless for a telephone. With tablets existing, why would you need a 5" mobile device? It just gets in the way, takes up too much of your pocket and is a chore to hold and operate.

I get that the current fad is "big, bigger, biggest," but personally I can't wait for that to blow over and top end phones having normal sized screens again.

I adjusted to the S3s size very quickly, now i find it weird having anything smaller

I would give up an inch for a bit more battery life however

Dahamn, a couple more days!

The S3 is the only Android device to make me consider switching from iOS.

I might just be an Android phone user and iOS tablet user.

Mobile devices these days are more than just phones, they are pocket computers. If you want a mobile device that just focuses on phone calls, i'm sure you can find one with a small screen for cheap.

And how exactly does the screen size impact the ability of a telephone to be a pocket computer?

The extra inch does nothing for that fact, if I want a big screen mobile there's the 7" tablet range that has perfectly great options for this. I don't need my smartphone to be 5" on top of that.

As I said in my original post, I want a top end smartphone with a small screen, so how a cheap phone is gonna help me I do not understand.

There are plenty of alternatives

I was this before switching back to iOS from S3. You will cry and hate the playstore and the shitty ass apps there. It was never about the OS or the Specs. It's the apps.
Had the S3 since launch, never looked back
The only apple product i still prefer to the alternatives is the iPad

Was at samsung headquarters yesterday in Seoul, trying to sneak in by my GF kept saying that the labs are most likely on the top floors anyway. We were talking about leaking these specs if we could find them haha someone got faster

thats cool but google just seem to be incapable of making the OS smooth, you really shouldn't need 8 cores. iphone 5 is buttery as silk, android struggles even with ridiculously overpowered processors. your phone doesn't really need that much processing power unless you want to play crysis 3 on it or something, its just trying to mitigate the crapiness of android
