When and what is the next big release for the Wii U in Japan?

I wish Vita would do those kinda number on a weekly basis (hell, even monthly would be better at the moment).

Dragon Quest X.

Is Layton really doing that much worse than expected despite doing higher than Senran Kagura?

It'd be nice if Vita could sustain sales in that range for weeks to come, but who knows? Nintendo needs to drop the price of the U.

Those seem like pretty low numbers for Phantasy Star Online 2. There IS a downloadable F2P option, right?

edit: how does Layton compare to previous entries?

edit2: or better yet, please show me how to look myself. "give a man a fish etc." Isn't someone keeping a public database?

Garaph.info.

PSO2 number is actually pretty great given that it's also available as an F2P DD release. It only looks like a bomb if you compare it to Phantasy Star Portable, but those titles were in a different genre that's better suited to handheld.

Wow. PSP sales still went up? I guess because of Shining Ark.

Also, how about Hot Shots going from 39 to 16... that screams "man I been dying to play this game, but I was waiting for a Vita price drop!"

Professor Layton numbers seem decent, Animal Crossing is a beast, and there is life in the Vita yet! I don't see any reason to be down about the Vita pulling +60k.

People suspected 70-80k based on the "quadruple" line. It's all a matter of whether the sales will stick. Soul Sacrifice will probably keep it up a bit but not for too long and it still has a ton of ways to go. I'm expecting it to pan out around 10-20k again in three or so weeks.

Vita numbers okayish. Was expecting a little more though.WiiU seems to be stabilizing at 9k-10k for now.

Phantasy Star Online 2 sold very good considering it's a f2p game.

I had no idea the 6th Layton game came out in Japan already. I miss the days of J-Gaf being a bigger thing :( now we never seem to get impressions for most games (unless its like a new FF).

Holy shit.

Vita HW number is in line with what I had come to expect: not bad, not spectacular. I predict no lasting impact on the weekly baseline due to the near-total lack of any notable exclusive software announced for release after tomorrow, but we'll see soon enough.

Not really sure what to make of the Vita numbers. They're about what I expected but I'd hoped I was being a little pessimistic. So-so, I'd say.

Were it to continue pulling 60k, I'd agree.

It won't, though.

With Soul Sacrifice coming and the Vita's new price putting it into more gamers' comfort zones I'm hoping it will establish a new baseline well above the 8~10k area its held so far. Maybe something like 20~25k for a normal, non-big release week?

Now if only Sony would quit their memory card scheme I bet sales would fly just a bit higher. For any consumer holding out because of costs those memory cards are a complete deal breaker.

Hopefully HW sales are between 15-20k now? Soul Sacrifice is still on its way after all.

Best thing to take from this is Senran Kagura series growing, shows that shifting to new hardware can indeed increase awareness. Hopefully this means a lot of Japanese franchises that have been sidelined this generation make a comeback.

It's this kind of moment where it's hard to see if 5x more sales for Vita is encouraging or if the Vita not topping the 3ds with a price cut and new games is fucking pathetic.. hmm..

I truly hope Layton as it is gets shelved for good after this game. The brand can continue in other forms using the character, the themes, and the art style, but it's pretty clear this cow is getting milked dry.

You could just not buy them? I quite enjoy my yearly Layton, thank you.

Senran Kagura [3DS] - 53,951 / 79,113
Senran Kagura Burst [3DS] - 70,569 / 87,271
Senran Kagura: Shinovi Versus [PSV] - 91,639

It's incredible how Marvelous was able to make the series grow (along the breast of the protagonists, lol). It's becoming one of its best selling series along with Rune Factory and Harvest Moon.

The sequel must be 3DS / Vita; I don(t see any reason why leaving Vita without a main chapter when it's becoming the house of otakus.

If all DLC came tied to $13 figurines, I'd consider all DLC to be free

Nah the next main game will be 3DS exclusive and the Vita will get a follow-up to this spin-off. Its is working well for them - multiplattform for the same game will result in less sales if people own multiple consoles and it would limit the more powerful hardware.

20-25k is too high for any new baseline imo, probably somewhere either side of 15k is more realistic

I have to say those are pretty horrible Vita numbers for essentially their last gambit, but I guess it all comes down to Sony hoping Soul Sacrifice becoming Monster Hunter.
