Fellow Xboxbro, right? Don't worry then because I am too, so I don't get a chance to play the patched version any other time except the sessions. I can guarantee wins, multiple wins, from playing me as I'm pretty much completely out of practice and rely solely on my ability to lame people out with Peacock for my wins rather than combos/mix ups/resets.

Against MVG though? Prepare your anus.

Yeah, I'm an Xbox monster. This whole ordeal with Lab Zero/Reverge and Skullgirls however has made it so that I'll probably be a PS-head next gen/going forward. Too many instances of politics getting in the way of my gaman. Also, poverty status. (Stupid Live)

I'm hoping some of my UMVC3 chops translate over to the game when/if we play, but I'm definitely going to be animated as all hell as I go through the beginner's fighting game cycle. (What do I do? - This button is cool, time to abuse - Fuck, they're beating that button - Says GGs [Screams Internally])

Where do I go to vote? Do I have to pay another $1 to vote or can I vote now?
Voting begins Monday. You'll get an email. You don't need an IndieGoGo account. You don't need to pay any more money.

Dude, I know this feel so well. Going forward, my preference for platforms, especially for fighting games, is going to be PC first, PSN second, and XBL last. Although this might end up screwing me with Capcom games.

Well, you definitely have the advantage of knowing what seems like it would make for a good assist, DHC's , etc. Just try to remember not everyone's launcher is the same button.

Ok cool. Also I'm going with this as well as I've started playing AE and SFxT on PC since it's more convenient and easier to find opponents on PC as opposed to the consoles. Skullgirls will be the icing on the cake.

Is it confirmed that we're voting for 4 characters in round one?

Yeah, I ran it by Mike last night, and we're going to go with that plan.

- Round 1: 32 characters, 4 votes
- Round 2: 16 characters, 3 votes
- Round 3: 8 characters, 2 votes
- Round 4: 4 characters, 1 vote

He agreed that three votes was too few for 32 characters and 3 votes was too much for 8 characters. So rebalancing it this way will help narrow things down more and get people making the hard choices sooner.

Emlans is the bestest.

The more I think about it, the more I think I want Beowulf. I mean, I love Annie and I love Isaac. But he's just sounding better and better the more I look at him.

It helps that he'll go over way better with some of my friends I've been trying to get interested in Skullgirls.

Well, this is looking interesting...

From the start I've felt a bit divided about SG - my initial impression of it was that it was a game by a Capcom fighting game fan for people with similar gameplay tastes that was shooting itself in the foot by not straying too much from that model should Capcom start working on the genre again, which it did before the game was released - and going 6-button would only make the sprite workload greater. The initially revealed characters with weird stuff on their heads didn't help for me.

Over time a few interesting character concepts like Peacock came up that got me a bit more interested, and seeing gameplay features that were the game's own like Ms. Fortune's head and Valentine's poisons helped, but I was still weary. I still am.

Still, by the time the EVO breast cancer donation drive ended I figured I might as well buy the game, there was clearly something speecial going on here. SG is still not my favorite fighting game, but to some extent it has my respect.

The community movement aound it is fascinating though - by now, I don't think anyone that bothers to pay attention can say peple don't actually care about stories in fighting games, as the whole aesthetic and setting aspect of it all seem to be one of the biggest draws, as much as the game works to be technically competent and competitively viable.

That being said, I'm still quite the SNK fanboy, so of course I'm going to favor any additions to the cast that show the SG team has bothered to look at some favorites, or will do so to further research some ideas - so based on the page with the descriptions of the possible 3rd character, I ranked them by SNK references.
So, from the most to the least SNK nods:

* 4:

- Panzerfaust
Ralf, Clark, Shigen and Earthquake
Oddly, despite the double puch button press mechanics, Squall from FF8 isn't mentioned in the inspirations list...; Maxima from KoF could work as an additional inspiration as well
This guy stood out early on as a possiblee fan favorite token male, even if eventually Big Band got selected first. I did not expect him to draw the most inspiration from SNK works, but then again, Ralf's a guy that makes people explode by punching them, and he never needed a tank hand to do it.
Will probably get my vote when I donate after I get home today, though initially I was more likely to reject him as as deperate appeal to the testosterone that the game was lacking.

* 3:

- Regina
Hibiki, Nakoruru, Galford
I wonder if Bust Nako/Rera's ability to ride her wolf is being looked into as well...
Not a design that particularly appeals to me, so my vote isn't likely here, and setting-wise she doesn't seem to add much compared to Cerebella, other than adding to the setting's fauna.

* 2 1/2

- Mrs. Victoria
Garou, Fatal Fury, CVS2, "everything"
Kinda vague, even if it's interesting that Garou and FF get mentioned separately (Fatal Fury always seemed to focus more on its stories, so controls and gameplay systems were never that sacred that they couldn't be significantly changed from one game to the next).
I still don't know enough about her to care...

* 2:

- D. Violet
Whip, Vice
Mike Z doesn't know about Lenny Creston from AoF3?...
Not quite my cup of tea so far...

- Yu-Wan
Gen-an, Shikyoh
He felt pretty helpless about the story events in Ms. Fortune's story mode, not the most appealing choice IMO...

- Samson
Kusaregedo, King of the Monsters
I already think Filia isn't quite the best postergirl for the game, as someone like Parasoul seems more involved with the current game's specific events, so Samson holds little appeal to me - still, I get the feeling that parasites in the SG setting are among the oldest living entities in their world, based on some descriptions like Squigly's and Eliza's, so their importance will be more apparent as more story is revealed. As none of the current story modes is supposed to be canon, this seems to be a case that deviates even more from the "real" events, but could give more insight on the big picture... yet, not quite up my alley...

* 1 1/2:

- Scythana
The Kims, who knows how many, so I figure Kaphwan and the odd tweak from a junior or two of his, or maybe the ones from Kizuna Encounter or samurai Shodown Sen, thus the 1/2 bit.
Kim's a character that always flowed nicely for me, and I like characters whose normal have good range, so she could get interesting, though on the other hand I never did get the hang of Cody, i dislike the striped prison duds and the single horn looks weird to me... quite the "maybe", I'd like to know more about her moves.

* 1:

- Black Dahlia
Genjuro
I wonder how the hell SS2 Genjuro comes into play here...
Her few lines in Peacock's end imply she knows a thing or two about the past of the folks behind the SG labs, so her story could get interesting, but I just like the idea of Peacock leaving behind a pile of bodies and a burning circus were all things Medici used to be, so no real focus here, I'm sure she'll eventually get her day in the limelight, but not with my vote

- Hive
B. Jenet
Mike Z doesn't know about Alfred from Real Bout? If she's supposed to borrow inspiration from aviation movement, he's worth looking into. Beyond that, not interesting enough yet.

- Leduc
Akari
His description mentions inpiration from Nicola Tesla, but maybe Mike Z doesn't know about Tesla-analogue Nicosla Zaza in Savage Reign? That guy too goes to battle in a gadget suit, his excuse being that he's this Tesla-level genius who built and is testing the thing, though he never got to be in more than one game.
Not interesting enough yet and Mike sems to dislike him, so i'm aiming elsewhere, but I figured I'd mention the additional possible reference.

- Ottomo
Rugal
I'd need more Michael Jackson to convince me...

- Eliza
Garou's TOP system
I get this vibe from her that she'd be a major figure in the setting, but perhaps that she'd be best served by a new game that's centered less on skullgirl Marie and Double shennanigans, although I'm sure she's bound to have an interest in both on some level. I keep thinking she'd be better off sharing a game with both Venus and Aeon in it for the sake of raising the setting's scope. Interesting, but not yet.

- Beowulf
Tizoc
Now this guy is what the game was missing: male, mostly relatable yet badass to the point of mythical. I'm not too sure about the standing on chair bit (could trigger to odd air walk bug... and a foot sweep on top of the chair better work as a regular hit since it's not tripping someone's feet at that height...), but I like what I see and will vote for him.
As far as SNK nods, could toss in some Raiden/Big Bear for showmanship (love that super throw in KoF XIII), Ramon from KoF might have a thing of interest or two worth looking into.

- Adam
Garou top system
I guess Adam himself gets to have regenerating health as the 3rd last resort guy in his squad, which was a way the TOP system could work? Still, it's weird when the guy who doesn't bring his helmet gets to be more effective despite lacking important protection... story-wise it helps with empathy, but still, the token plain guy might stand out more if he weren't designed to be just one of the faceless troops, only with a face and the odd extra ability... Not going there...

- Molly
Metal Slug
Could be interesting, but her facial expression in Parasoul's CSs weird me out... Not quite voting material yet...

- Isaac
Neinhalt Sieger
The kind of gameplay design that helps SG stand out - but on the other hand, I don't like having to swap characters, preferring to go with a single one, and he's likely to rely on a teammate to cover his time trips (Scythana would be perfect, but they're not likely to coexist...). still, a strong candidate...
He needs a quote like "Great Scott! Marie, we have to go back!" (to the time before she accepted to become the skullgirl), and his story mode could involve viewing all the alternate time lines from the existing characters' current story modes, which could get interesting, if he can move that much through time...

No SNK nods (hall of shame :( ):
Umbrella
Marie
Annie
Stanley
Ileum
Brain Drain
Andy (c'mon, where's Heavy D!, Vanessa or Rick Strowd in the gameplay inspirations?...)
Feng
Taliesin
Hubrecht
Beatrix
Minette
Roxie (I kinda like this one :( Eri from Metal Slug?...)
Venus
Aeon (if I understood her description, she could turn into Last Hope members, parasite-less Filia, unscarred Ms Fortune, adult Umbrella, Parasoul's mom, Valentine-armed Painwheel (this so much!), living Squigly, etc... could get interesting...)

What would be the gamplay differences of between Robo-Fortune and regular Nadia? I wouldn't mind having her rekkas changed to something more plain, but that's personal preference...

I hope the character information gets expanded as possibilities get eliminated throughout the stages of the voting process - less possible characters, but more info about the survivors to help us decide...

Well played, joe! lol

In all seriousness, this will make it. I'm not as familiar with IGG's statistical structure. But if it's anything like KS, these crowdfunding projects usually pull about 10%-25% of their current totals in the final 48 hrs.

In other words, I'd be shocked if we don't burn thru all of the currently set goals. I'd peg it at about $900k.

*winces and crosses fingers*

Having 12 hours to get less than $10,000 is certainly not scraping to the finish line.

There's no way we'll get the 825,000 goal though. I don't even know why they put it up there.

I put it up there because why not?

That is entirely the reason I put the 3rd character up there... and here we are.
