This decision will live or dy by the content MS provides. They need the games, the services everything. Halo, Forza and Gears won't cut it for this.

To be fair, a game is a group effort. We don't know how much control he really had over those projects, even if he did have an impressive-sounding title.

When his 'personal opinion' DIRECTLY RELATES TO THE PRODUCT HE'S SUPPOSED TO BE SELLING/REPRESENTING it has everything to do with his job.

Imagine I worked for OREO cookies and tweeted 'OREO cookies will cause sexual dysfunction if you so much as sniff one' how could that been seen as merely a 'personal opinion' and to be ignored?

I'm not demanding anyone's head here, but it's extremely silly of him not to expect a backslash when saying this kind of stuff out there in the open, that shit damages MS quite a bit.

I think it's safe to say a lot of us would feel silly if it was just the test system/ dev kit that required online connection and not the console itself. Maybe that's why Microsoft isn't dispelling any rumors.

Might as well cancel the single player development of halo if the alwaysonline console does get revealed.

I'm pretty sure microsoft would rather have a good employee who broke a factual NDA, rather than A PR mess, caused by someguy who's been hired for a little over a year.

You know what would be the greatest thing ever?

During the reveal the Nextbox loses connection and starts the connection troubleshooter. Then Mattrick has to appeal to the audience to turn off wi-fi devices a la Steve Jobs.

If course, the 'always online' requirement would be conveniently disabled for stage demoes.

Surely MS must have had enough on stage demos go wrong now, to disable that for the reveal haha

To be fair, very few people in the thread asked for his head. And I really doubt the vast majority of GAF wants to see him lose his job.
Most of us probably don't care about the guy. It's all about what he said, how he said it and what it means. It's also all about eating that sweet, sweet popcorn, of course.

This is one of those times where if MS doesn't come out and outright say it's false, we can almost assuredly assume it's true. There's no reason to believe otherwise. Which is a total bummer, 360 was my favorite console of the generation. Might be the last time I buy a MS console too.
