All I can think of...

I really dislike that they are bringing back normal healing items if the video is indicative of that. Being able to have like 99 of a full heal item was some dumb shit in Demon's Souls.

Ok, I think I'm going to head out and finally purchase Dark Souls for the PS3. Saw some copies of Demon Souls floating around a Disc Replay, but we'll see how my Dark Souls journey goes.

Estus Flask is returning.

Besides, you can have 99 humanity in Dark Souls without much effort.

I like that one of the first things shown is that you might not be backstabbing everything.

I'm excited. New engine is about as much of a step forward as I would have guessed given current-gen hardware and what was shown in Dark Souls. Enemies and locales were interesting, and that's most of what I could hope for.

Seeing Demon's Souls style healing items make a return would be a shame but I ain't worried.

It's definitely worth it. In my opinion, one of the games of this generation that everyone should experience. Just a brilliantly crafted game. Prepare your ass.

I agree about the walking animation. It does in fact look weird.

Also, I don't know if this has been mentioned, but there aren't any damage-numbers shown upon hitting an enemy. (Small change I noticed)

Maybe because they were never helpful to begin with?

HUm overall satisfied by what i'm seeing but not convinced yet ...

It does look like an intresting game. so irght now ..midly hyped i guess

I know the Estus Flask is coming back but being able to trivially buy and hold 99 healing items in Demon's Souls was the worst thing about Demon's Souls and I hope that never returns.

Humanity was a similar problem yes, but at least you couldn't roll up and trivially buy an infinite amount of them. You would have to farm them, which is something I don't do. Preferably the only way to heal would be the Estus flask and nothing else.

The best thing is it looks like we might get actual capes now.

Herbs at least weighed you down a bit along with everything else you were carrying.

*first gameplay demonstration shown for highly anticipated game*

"This looks good I guess...but, the character walks really weird."

You guys are crazy, but that's why I come here.

It does look pretty stilted...

Definitely helpful, you could tell exactly how much damage different attacks and different weapons did. Also, being able to tell the exact damage differences of counters, direct vs indirect hits, 1H vs 2H backstabs/ripostes and instability damage is very helpful. Hopefully numerical damage values are in DkS II.

Don't neglect Demon's Souls. It is easily as good as Dark Souls and arguably superior in several areas (level design, bosses, atmosphere, overall quality not dropping 2/3 of the way through). If you've got a PS3, you need both.

Considering how great DkS looks on PC at 1440P+, I can only imagine this will be a FINE looking game upon release. It looks like they have all the right stuff in place, just needs some more tuning. The level of detail in some of the areas looks easily on par or better than DkS.

The game is still a long way from coming out. Walking animations may change in that time.

For me personally, I think it looks fine. Does it look a little funky? Sure. The walking animation is not what I'm concerned about in a Dark Souls game. If they make another fantastic and astonishingly deep game, the character could crab walk for all I care.

I imagine they might be optional. Mine will always be on.

Wow, they look so unenthused in that video. Never watched any IGN stuff before. Are they always like this? They look like they are on a batch of bad heroin.

And how do you know you can buy these healing items? Jumping the gun.

Ill buy it when its dirt cheap. I hated many things about dark compared to demons. I'm not easily impressed like some people here, so I'm gonna wait on it.

=(

It looks like a great game, but I'm going to skip it. It's very Dark Soulsy and not even Demon's Soulsy (okay I'll stop).

Is the whole game set in a particular castle? That would be awesome but I doubt it.

While the game looked a little rough (both graphically and mechanically) it still was what I wanted to see from a Souls game sequel.

Put the preorder page up on Steam already Gabe!

What do you even mean? And I mean, the game still has a long way to go. This was a peek.

It's IGN, they still run things around there the old way. Everything is taken way too seriously, and done in a very cold and calculated way. They are a review/preview machine. It's probably pretty hard to be enthused when you have to stay so close to the lines in everything you do.

I hope they improve it, playing 200 hours with that animation would bother me a bit.

Anyway it's the only thing i have a real problem with, so far, so that's why i keep mentioning it, everything else is looking pretty good.

I've learnt my lesson about trying to have this argument with enough other people. I'll just officially say I'm flat out wrong and you shouldn't listen to me...

It's good to see these kind of games being made regardless. I hope they recycle the engine for next gen though, whatever they have now is horrible.

Every time I see that walking gif quoted again...

OK IT LOOKS REALLY WEIRD.

That's obviously not final, I'd imagine.

Love the Dullahan.

Okay, more serious impressions of the footage and trailer.

I do think the game looks really rough right now. Considering they talked about making a brand new engine for a huge graphical boost, and having tons more staff than Dark Souls, etc.... It doesn't really look representative of that now. The movements don't look as tight, the combat looks rather off, the rest just looks like... Dark Souls.

I can see what the team is going for this time though. More set pieces, more variety, interesting shit happening in various stages, but I just hope the core of the game isn't weaker. The actual level design and methodical progression in the series is what is most important really.

This is a concern. The previous ones had what those (de)volved from, and were filled with valuable information and mood-setting, rather than be the cookie at the end of the vegetables.

That looks really pretty for a current console game. Good job on that.

The movement and fighting seemed like it was noticeably speedier, and it didn't seem like he took much damage from the troll's punch or those two iron monsters. Not that that's indicative of anything.

Promising!

They can reuse whatever they want if the game ends up being awesome

I've been a bit scared over the staff change... And I hope the PC version ships in a better way than dark souls

Just saw the video and watched the main character get instantly gibbed repeatedly in different ways.

fucking casuals have ruined this game, game is dead, no-skill no-reward gameplay etc

Just watched it, looks really good. There is some pretty noticeable pop in in certain areas, so hopefully that will be ironed out. There seems to be a little more physicality than in dark souls, that's always a good thing.
