Pretty similar to this thread with a pinch of racism and xenophobia. One dude thinks they are white Occupy Wall-street punks. Some more duders think the pics are fake.

The FBI has video of them dropping the bags at the exact bomb site and the fabric matches the remnants of bag they found.

The video has not yet been released to the public.

Error Level Analysis (ELA) identifies areas within an image that are at different compression levels. With JPEG images, the entire picture should be at roughly the same level. If a section of the image is at a significantly different error level, then it likely indicates a digital modification.

I hope we all not jumping too immediately to conclusions here before we have 100% conclusive proof that they are really the perpetrators. Because it's not like the authorities never made a mistake in identifying perpetrators before, and for a crime this scale, the effect could be disastrous if we name the wrong persons.

I didn't read the whole thread, but *if* they are already *confirmed* as the perpetrators, then disregard this post.

The FBI has video footage of one of them leaving their bag at the bomb site. They are also calling them "suspects", which in law enforcement parlance means "we are going to arrest them". If they were "persons of interest" it would be our everyday definition of "suspicion".

What if they did a dry run days prior? I hope the FBI is checking a few days worth of video.

You think there's anyway these two could have left the country before the pictures were known?

It'd be difficult to even get out of Boston through South Station.

You can drive from the east to the west coast in under 48 hours. No way they are anywhere near boston.

I think you are severely underestimating the mass of those ball bearings. If the internet is to be believed, steel ball bearings have a density of about 7,800 kg/m^3. We could reasonably assume a pressure cooker to have a volume of .1 m^3. Also, under ideal circumstances spheres can fill no more than about 74% of any volume, so I'll be reasonable and assume 40% of any volume taken up is actually filled in this case. With these numbers, a quantity of ball bearings completely filling a pressure cooker might have a mass of about 700 pounds! Yes, I had to check this multiple times to be sure. You can then divide that final mass by whatever you like to reach an acceptable carrying amount, but nonetheless it's clear that any significant amount would represent a heavy burden.

I'm not sure if they would leave the country. It depends if they plan on doing more attacks. Just doing the attacks doesn't make sense without having a message or another plan to go with it.

You're right, we don't know where they are, which is why it's not hilarious to think that they're still in the Boston area. We simply do not know.

Put yourself in their shoes, would you stay in the Boston area where everyone knows exactly what you look like? People in the Boston area are watching the news 24/7 why would they stay in an area that they would be easily caught.

Usually when bad things happen, people flee to far away.
