Man, they really laid the lesbian undertones really thick in this episode. It'd be much better if they just stuck to being creative and subtle about it like the puzzle piece thing from a few eps ago. This episode was pretty fun otherwise.

Yui's classy bean.

The Wind Rises poster.

That's a great poster.

I have to deal with someone who is no joke or exaggeration a hypocrite about almost everything to the point of being a real jerk about it. It got tiresome a long long time ago. Just recently they took it to the nth degree which really just ticked me off especially when I called them out on it.

Catching up with the thread and seeing that post, having missed it before, and I got a little annoyed again. I just felt like responding then regardless of whether it would get through or not. To no surprise it didn't.

Yeah, I can understand what he's saying would be upsetting, but blowing a gasket over it isn't going to help either. The best is to simply ignore him to deny the attention he probably craves.

From the twittershphere:

"Ben ‏@ben_the_bear
According to Maruyama, Takeshi Koike didn't leave Madhouse, he was fired because Redline took so long to make."

I'm not surprised. (I see that guy is at a panel with Nagahama right now. I'm jealous.)

Another interesting tidbit I saw on Twitter: Yasuhiro Takemoto (KyoAni, director of Hyouka) has spent the past two months preparing for Free! by practicing drawing male figures from a nude photo collection.

That is some dedication

Loooong time no see!

It's been a while since I was able to make a grand post about something I watched, and I came in to brag about a recent purchase.

The VHS tapes were sealed (but who cares about collector value). Originally marked at $110 and $78 respectively, I nabbed them for $5 each. : )

Oh, and got Infinite Ryvius finally, after Jexhius recommended it forever ago to me.

Shining Akane episode

A What is your important treasure episode. Of course we'd know what it is, because of what type of show it is, but that's not really important, and it brings out a strength for this series; the character bonding between the main cast. Granted, all of them have that kind of strength, but it was rather poorly handled by Suite, and probably Fresh considering
Miki's and Setsuna's differences
just to nitpick for a bit.

Although before I continue, GOD DAMN IT BRIAN, you had to remind us that you existed. I was hoping for Wolfrun to send you a letter in english as a form of a challenge. Anyway, the episode really exploits the nature of the Cure name for Akane just to prove their point and it gets it across very well. Crushing a doll that everyone made actually felt like a terrible thing.

The goal was pretty obvious in regards to the treasure, but how it was approached was done very well. High quality episode.

I don't think anyone had to highlight that to know what it said.

You sir, have shared exactly what I thought, but didn't post.

Salutations Typo! I hope all is well.
Additionally, those are some nice prices for older releases.

Though, I have to ask, What's a "V-H-S"?

Those are some slick covers for VHS'. Also, welcome back and don't leave us again.

Very Hot Stuff. Thus, my need to buy it.

All is certainly well! I've just been SUPER busy with end of semester animations/finals to do much watching/posting on anime. And I got busy with Breaking Bad instead, haha. Going to try to get something done some time soonish.

I never left! I was just quieter than normal. ; )

EDIT: I'm currently in an critical studies course examining Independent Film in America, and I was curious... Do any of you know of some good anime that could be considered "independent?" The Dallos OVA and DAICON IV were about the only things I could really think of as qualifying off the top of my head, but even those might be way off.

Good choices. Not that I'd ever watch anything on VHS ever again.

Ever.

Those covers are nice though.

I dunno, Voices of a Distant Star? It's not like you can just grab a camera and a couple of friends and make an anime with a few weeks work. The sheer volume of skilled/semi-skilled labour involved really helps to ensure that, for the most part you can't just produce anime independently.

The definitive viewing experience for Cowboy Bebop is on VHS. Just doesn't feel the same otherwise.

Yeah, I have a hard enough time wanting to watch DVDs over BDs. I think it would be fun to own some anime LDs in all honesty, though.

I'm still convinced that Brian was just an akanbe in disguise, trying to lead Akane off the path of the pure.

Now you're talking. Collecting LD's actually makes sense because you at least have some beautiful artwork to show for it. For example, consider these Kimagurage Orange Road LD's:

From Aniplex USA's Anime Boston panel, Sword Art Online is confirmed to eventually air on Toonami this August.

In other panel news via the above link, they confirmed the leaked SAO BD/DVD plans and also revealed they're bringing over those Blue Exorcist bilingual BDs that were also announced for the UK recently, though they'll be in two sets instead of one complete collection.

I would suggest listening to the Japanese VA track; whoever they got to play the Count in the English dub, I doubt he can match Jouji Nakata's charisma.
No kidding? I watched it completely on dub and I don't think I've heard any of the Japanese track. That would make for an interesting rewatch if it comes recommended. Though, like FelixOrion, I quite liked the dub. Especially the Count.
With regards to the Count of Monte Cristo you should really listen to the original JP voice track. The Count is straight up god-tier.
