There is so much stuff on there. What are the hidden (or not so hidden) gems? Bonus points if your answer is not Cowboy Bebop or something that has had a western videogame adaptation.

I wouldn't recommend any of it personally, but then again I'm a bit more into 80's anime for it's style and content, although if sword of the stranger is still on there I'd check that out.

It's funny that you mention bebop too since it's not on there and I would enjoy watching it again.

Mushi-shi
Gunslinger Girl S1
Shigurui
Needless
The Little Norse Prince aka (Horus: Prince of the Sun)
Samurai Champloo

I have been watching Last Exile and it's a pretty cool adventure. Worth checking out if you enjoyed the setting of the game Skies of Arcadia. Have only seen eight or so episodes, but I like what I've seen so far.

By the way, why only S1 of Gunslinger Girl?

And the tone seemed to change as well. I stopped early in season 2.

Had to check out High School of the Dead out of curiosity. Japan, you so crazy. Could have just made a high school vs. zombies story, but no, had to add in as many panty shots as humanly possible XD

Okay, I just looked up Shigurui

And holy crap, I've never seen so much naked skin :lol THAT was adapted as anime?! Is it any good?

It's a very well-made animated adaptation of a very good comic.
The comic wasn't over yet when it was made, unfortunately, so you won't get the whole story, but what's there still is absolutely worth watching.

(Same thing for Mushishi.)

Gurren Lagann
Death Note
Full Metal Alchemist
Blood+

Ok I don't know if they're all on streaming and I'm too lazy to check right now.

I really liked SGT. Frog but I think they took most of it down.

Black Butler is another recommendation. I have it a shot and ended up getting the BR set with the OVAs. It's really good!

I started Soul Eater and its pretty good too.

Before netflix I had limited anime experience but it turns out it let me discover all sorts of cool shows.

Edit! If you have amazon prime, check out Ghost Hound.

What is Full Metal Alchemist guys? It always looked appealing to me, but know nothing about it.

Just watch Full Metal Alchemist Brotherhood, skip the one on Netflix. Brotherhood was made after the original series and it follows the manga all the way through the end. The original(one on Netflix) has a horrible ending. Brotherhood is my personal favorite anime of all time.

Basically about two brothers trying to get their bodies back after a tragic experiment to bring a loved one back to life. But there is so much more to the story than that.

Eden of the East was good, although the movies were a bit underwhelming.

I'm pretty sure I watched Spice and Wolf on there. If that's still on there, then that.

I was also pretty sure I watched Seirei no Moribito on there, but it does not seem to be on there any more. Hm.

Loosely based on alchemy ideas, obviously. Brothers mess up big time, and try to regain the stuff they lost.

Great anime(s). Watch the first series first, then Brotherhood. They are both great.

Well, I'd just say watch the first part of the first series - the stuff Brotherhood skips through really fast. Then watch all of brotherhood.

I actually liked the original over brotherhood. It told a good story and you got into the characters more.

The two series are different enough. I preferred the tone of the original, and the pace of the story was a lot better. I wouldn't skip any of them.

It's action/sci-fi (alchemy)/comedy. It's about 2 brothers looking for a philospher's stone to restore their bodies. It's pretty great.

Although I'd say the 2nd (remake) series "Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood" is better. It's also closer to the original source (manga). Sucks that Netflix removed it though. :(

Mushi-Shi is the best. Or Monster, if it is still available, though I'm not a fan of the dub.
Really? I loved the dub. I can't really get into Japanese VAs in non-Japanese settings. It'd feel watching Germans speaking Japanese. Though, I'm sure you've heard this response a million times.
No Monster was taken off a while ago.
What!?

They removed Brotherhood.

WHAT!?

Girls Bravo
Kirie is best girl.

Where can I watch Brotherhood? Is it on Hulu+ at least?

It doesn't seem to be on CR, which is what I've been using the most right now.

Toss in one for Sekirei and HighSchool of The Dead if you want boobies and comedy. If you want anything not that I'd try FMA or Soul Eater.
