Did UBIsoft steal the Watch Dogs Logo?

started this discussion elsewhere and wanted to know what the detectives here thought.

Just noticed how similar (almost identical) the Logo used in Watch Dogs is to the Music Label OWSLA (the record label made by Skrillex (Sonny Moore)... note this is NOT a skrillex hate thread so leave that out of this please...)

Skrillex has had that logo long before Ubisoft came up with it, so im wondering if it has an alternate meaning or if it originated from something else?
(edit: found the logo designers website, http://brandonrike.com/skrillexs-owsla-logo )

OWSLA LOGO TOP(added 2 red lines and erased circle to show what ubisoft changed.)
WATCH DOGS LOGO BOTTOM (the bottom point is longer than OWSLA, and the middle lines connect and thats basically all ubisoft changed)

and heres the unedited OWSLA logo

it cant be just a coincidence, so im trying to figure out if it originated from something else?

The NAME: "OWSLA" originated from a book that Skrillex liked, called, Watership Down, about a group of (personified) rabbits trying to escape and form their own society. The Owsla were a military-type group of rabbits in the book in which the characters escaped from, or tried to escape from or something...

The book sounds like an anti-establishment-themed story which sounds like what Watch Dogs is going for as well... so if this logo was used at all in the book, i could understand the correlation. However after looking around for stuff from the book, ive not seen the logo anywhere except used by the original Designer, Brandon Rike, for the music label. As far as im aware he didnt/doesnt work for Ubisoft, and didnt design the watch dogs logo for them.

also im curious as to what constitutes enough changes in a logo that it can bypass trademark/copyright/whatever... since this particular one changed almost nothing aside from connecting pre existing lines.

i messaged the OWSLA logo designer to see what he thinks, and am waiting to hear back from him... i havent messaged ubisoft since i doubt they would respond

What do you guys think?

Just getting a broken image on the WD link and when I try to access it;

EDIT: Fix'd

OWSLA got created in 2011.

Watchdogs has been in production for 5+ years.

There's no reason to assume that Ubi "stole" the logo, however the similarities are striking.

a book that skrillex liked

let me rephrase since this is turning into a subtle skrillex bash even though i asked for it not to.

"... Skrillex got the word OWSLA from the book, Watership Down, which he happens to like."

better?

yeah i totally wasnt thinking its been in development for so long... still to have the exact same logo is strange

The Watch Dogs logo looks more like an Arwing to me. Once you see it, you can't unsee it!
Came to post this.

Watership Down is an excellent book. I don't remember that logo in the book or the creepy cartoon based on it.

Edit: Huh, I thought Skrillex was a girl. You learn something new every day.

skrillex just likes watership down because reading about rabbits mauling other rabbits is the only way he can really feel hardcore.

Who creates the laws of geometric creations?

Coincidence? I think not! Rockstar should take them to court.

The shapes are similar but nothing that screams plagiarism. If you look at the geometry and proportions of certain parts, they are not exactly alike. (Talking about the the original post)

They both copied this:

Seriously though, I don't think you need to copy a logo to get similar lines and triangles. Its not that complex.
