Uranus/Neptune/Pluto/Saturn return later on in the season

Really? That's good,
they just disappeared after episode 06, without any explanation.

The non-scientific answer is that the woods are often a great place to tell scary stories because of all the different ambient sounds and faintly seen objects of variable size.

Skinwalkers were a mainstay of scout camp.

If I'm not wrong the non-scientific answer, is because Obon.

Seraphis Cain

bad gameplay lol
I've found it gaf, the greatest harem main character:

Yeah, 403 Forbidden is a pretty great character!

This episode was the worst piece of shit ever in the history of shit and if you watch and like this episode then you're a huge piece of shit as well. It's so terrible it almost made me want to induce vomit just so I could choke in it and die to end the pain and suffering. Do not dare even attempt to watch this sorry excuse for a follow up to the brilliant first season unless you want to experience untold torment firsthand.

You have been warned.

Y'ain't seen a scary story till you've been a little too close to the Brazilian wilds, seen the Witch Doctor's House, and your friend starts in on skinwalkers.

So uh, can't decide if I hate Puru or not yet, but Roux is understandably pissed at the crap she's been pulling during this desert expedition. And it can't JUST be me that's KIND of thinking that it's a HUGE MISTAKE to let BEECHA pilot the HIAKU SHIKI when it used to be piloted by CHAR AZNABLE. I mean, Judau and Roux piloting the Zeta is sort of okay, because they're cool, but putting BEECHA in CHAR'S MS seems like a waste.

PURU TAKES HER SHOES OFF INSIDE THE ZETA? Yo, kid, this ain't no ROAD TRIP. KEEP YOUR SHOES ON. You think we're going to DISNEY LAND? You think we're gonna stop at roadside dinosaurs and take pictures no one wants to see? WE AIN'T. THIS IS THE ZETA GUNDAM. THE HANDS DOWN COOLEST MECHA IN THE ENTIRE UC. SHOW IT SOME RESPECT.

Kinda name is Nicky for a ZEON soldier, anyway?

The Light of El Cantare
Can anyone list all of the Magical Girls anime this year? I only know of Fantasista Doll in July :(

All we know of is from summer season so far.

Fate/Kaleid Liner Prisma Illya - probably definitely going to be terrible
Futari wa Milky Holmes - not sure if there are actually supposed to be magical girl elements but the concept is clearly ripped from Pretty Cure
Genei o Kakeru Taiyou - looks kind of cool so long as it doesn't descend into loli pander garbage
Sympogear S2 - kind of counts, I guess

It's the name that just gets me. I mean, maybe it makes sense within the Fate universe to be named that way, but to someone who isn't familiar with the Fate series, that is one clusterfuck of a name.

Fate/Kaleid Liner Prisma Illya

what in actual fuck

The story itself has no business being in the Fate universe
not that I really know anything outside of Zero and Stay Night
, so the name is the least of my concerns.

Maybe they mean passive aggressive, behind all those smiles are a seething hatred waiting to backstab each other! I'd watch that at least.

Wait I don't get it. Are you the popcorn eater who's suddenly frustrated with the anime news drama? Is Arti the professor getting angry at wonzo sakamoto? Am I overanalyzing a nichijou gif?

I would watch that as well. As long as it isn't stupid.

Also yes

Wow, that was really, really good. Probably Shinkai's best film.

The story ended up being a little bit different than I expected, but in a good way. I appreciated that, rather than being a typical love story, it's much more about the psychological condition of the characters, how they think others view them, and how others actually do view them. That's why people saying it's a "sad" ending, I think, are completely missing the point.
The whole point was that Akizuki thought his dreams were worthless and Yukino could not overcome her fear. But because of their connection, they're able to overcome their problems and move forward in life. It's only a sad ending if you view it as a conventional romance where the two leads have to get together.

Shinkai is at his best as a filmmaker here; it's pleasing to see him move beyond just his typical visual metaphors and make skillful use of editing and montage as well. I thought the repeated motif of food preparation was really interesting, as we see that it's just a normal, everyday part of Akizuki's life, but it takes on a different meaning for Yukino later on. Of course, a major theme of the film is how others see us versus how we see ourselves, and this really drives that point home. Throughout the story, Akizuki is lamenting his childishness and immaturity, but the repeated montages demonstrate his unusual maturity and seriousness, in his work ethic and future ambitions. He myopically takes something like his skill with cooking for granted, failing to realize how it might be appreciated by others. I also appreciated the jump cuts Shinkai used in the scene where
Akizuki gets beat up
.

Visually, the film has gorgeous art direction, obviously. The rain and water effects are some of the best I've ever seen, .gifs won't be able to show the full effect. Shinkai has never really been a sakuga director, as far as character animation goes, but his style works pretty well here. The characters are effectively expressive and emotive. There's even a nice slapkuga scene(and boy is it one of the most deserving slaps I've ever seen).

So it's a really good movie, and it's only 46 minutes, so there's not much of an excuse not to watch it. There were a couple scenes that cut me deep, although it's not as depressing in that regard as 5cm Per Second. I really liked it.

Oh right, I was here to post impressions.

Damn the car sexiness keeps coming. I'm not sure why but even though its as rigid as the black rose arc the formula seems to work better here. Maybe its because there's been some sort of twist to both duels so far or maybe its a better balance between stock footage and new scenes.

Damn Himemiya, are all your animals other than Chu-chu named Nanami? Such a great Nanami episode, how can anyone not like these?
