Hunter x HUnter - 82

And after that padding done , we can finally get to the real stuff.

The pacing and the flow of events felt quite weird in the second part

Let's see, at this point...

Akane > Miyuki > Yayoi > Nao > Reika

Like, Nao SHOULD be much higher but she's starved of real screentime and all too often she's written like a pokemon. Reika is a lock for bottom, though. Mix Ami and Twilight together while taking away anything that made them interesting to begin with, and you get Reika. No personality (reserved, neurotic, or otherwise). No chemistry. Not even that smart.

I'm sure the explanation involves dark matter/neo-aether dense fluid wave riding and sub-space water-like breakthrough in a 'Alcubierre drive' method or by means of the Tannhäuser Gate's enabled degeneracy radius jump to achieve warp travel... or some other pseudo-answer full of drivel.

Best explanation? "Space is an ocean"!

Lots of lovecraftian references and gags.
I would like to see a moé version of The Shadow Over Innsmouth!

Thankfully, the thing is I've seen the term "bittersweet" thrown around more times.
They can move on thanks to each other's sharing, but they long for another opportunity to meet again. A by-the-book definition, as I see it.
Yep, pretty much. Its not a
happy end in the the traditional sense and that they both get together, but with them accomplishing their goals and that narration at the end makes it more of bittersweet rather than sad.

That's pretty much the ranking for the entire series, really.

For me, bittersweet would have been the ending without the tag after the credits.

Yeah, it's also one of those shows that thinks referencing other things make a good substitute for actual funny jokes and gags.
But it has whatshername doing her genki voice for Nyaruko. That's something. Nishishishishi, etc.

Code is this show over yet? R2 24

Have I mentioned how amazingly stupid Lelouch's plan to expend the Damocles' supply of nukes is? This is the equivalent of hoping the final boss will waste all his MP before you take an actual turn.

Also, ten bucks says
Nunally's nuclear plunger
does nothing at all. OH SNAP was that some not so subtle commentary on push-button warfare? It also occurs to me that 24 episodes into this show Geass has never once been explained. Considering that chapter of the show more or less ended when
AAHAHAHAHAHAHA ALL HAIL LELOUCH AHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHA
, I'm guessing that it never will be.

And if Ogie dies. So help me if Nina lives and Ogie dies.

Also, maybe you're special enough to not believe that Suzaku was derailed for the sake of making Lelouch look good, but can we all agree that it's just precious the way Sneasel is suddenly the bad guy and Lelouch is suddenly heroic saving the world from a floating nuclear fortress?

Why do I still care? I don't know that I do.

Seriously Rivel. It's raining ash. There is a nuclear war going on over your head. Literally. Shirley is gone. Lelouch is gone. Nina is gone. Suzaku is gone. #ROLO is gone. If you do not bed Milly right now, with the whole world crashing around your head, you will never, ever do it.

Fuck you, Toto. Suzaku never turned his back on his country and least of all to climb in rank. Before ShirleyGate it was still his defined goal of becoming Knight of One for the sake of Japan. Can we PLEASE stop trying to force the idea of Suzaku to perpetual traitor here? You want a perpetual traitor, please look up FF4's Kain Highwind. There's a guy you can count on to stab you in the back.

Okay. I can't believe I'm saying this, BUT: there's something severely wrong with this show when you know, NINA is WILLINGLY SUCKING OFF LELOUCH. FUCK THIS BULLSHIT. SHE SHOULD BE DEAD. HE SHOULD BE DEAD. THEY ALL SHOULD JUST DIE.

No, but seriously: Having Lelouch and Suzaku on the same team fighting big bad Sneasel and his James Bond Villain Plan for the sake of some nebulous Zero Requiem is the greatest of contrivances, and no explanation will truly suffice.

"Isn't that basically terrorism?" I don't know whether or not I should be delighted by Canon's seeming innocence or pleased as punch that he thinks he is actually a character in this show. Since Sneasel is similarly not a villain, I hereby appoint DTARD the role of main villain.

OH REALLY? REALLY? REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEALLY?
Princess CORNELIA is alive?
Death is like a legit slap on the wrist in this show. Can't wait to learn that
Shirley and Princess Euphemia are also alive
Because I legitimately cannot trust this show from episode to episode. Its every move is a deceit in an attempt to make me think something else. Or it would be if I wasn't convinced at this point that it is all happening at random. There was probably a jar in the writers room and it had scenes written on it and they pulled like, seven out and made them into an episode.

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAaaaHAHAHAHAHAHHAAHAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA.

LORD GILFORD IS STILL ALIVE!!?
HHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

BLAH BLAH BLAH SNEASEL AND LELOUCH MAKE ANIME SPEECHES. HHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQ3333333333QOLEQKJMQLKKQNDLKNOLBBN;KKNOLN:llNOJPIBPI'/

[soiler] YOU SHALL SERVE SERO /SOIULER

HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

Why did Dtard want to
die at the hands of Geass
Apparently that's a fetish now! WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEHEHEHEHEHHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

HWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA OF COURSE. OF COURSE. WHY NOT? WHY NOT? WHY THE FUCK NOT?
NUNALLY breaks a Geass. Not Euphemia. Not Suzaku. Not that guy who was resisting it during the slaughter of the Order. NUNALLY.

You know, part of me is happy, because this has been the showdown I've waited for for 49 episodes now, but part of me is just incapable of processing the rip tide of stupid that lead us to this point. Also, no way, NO WAY in 25 minutes can they explain all of this away and STILL have time to kill Nina.

NIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIINAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

Okay, this reaction was delicious, but episode 25....I fear for your safety.

Fantastic episode, this level of performance is what Gon and Killua ought to be up to for the rest of the arc I hope.
Gon with the sword attack was surprising, when did he even learn that?!
. Was confused on Rammot
how did he get nen, did I miss that part?

???? This was showed in the anime. Gon learned that
when he started the Janken , when killua was "off" to get the hunter exam during the greed island arc. Biske and gon showed both attacks to killua when he came back.
This is obviously the improved version since well he trained under biske more after that.

As for rammot, the answer is simple.
Remember
the forced method to Open your nen gates that gon and killua used to get past Hisoka nen wall in the heaven arc ( the fighting floor arc ). They had their first teacher use nen on them , allowing them to see and proceed. This is the same principle , except it was not done on purpose. Gon & killua attacks did the same thing because neither were expecting the rammot defense to be so high. They would have killed him anyway if he wasn't saved by his commander.
In the heaven arc, this is the kind of stuff that happen to the contestants that don't know nen and would have been exposed to it...multiple injuries and a forced activation of their nen...and only their will to master it...The baptism.

The end result is this because well , the chimera ants have an extreme adaptability , their instincts allow them to learn fast ( very fast )...and a bit of luck. Don't forget that they have human parts in them too.

So after whining about Hummingbird giving me weird recommendations, I thought I'd try and watch them in case I did actually like them.

Dororon Enma-kun (1973)

This show is kind of interesting and kind of intensely annoying, all at the same time. Part of it is because it's old and the sound quality is therefore really poor - Enma has a particularly bratty speaking voice, and everyone spends so much time cackling or screaming it becomes immensely irritating.

With that said, given it's 40 years old at this point, while the production values are generally lacking there are some nice visual ideas. It's not particularly effective at creating a sense of horror - I don't really think it's trying, it's definitely a kid's show - and the actual narrative content is pretty dull monster-of-the-week stuff. However, the monster design is great - particularly the evil Medusa pot thing - and there's some fun stuff in the fight scenes.

It also has scandalous little boy panty shots.

It's a real blast from the past, particularly the 70s fashions and music. It doesn't have all the irritating pervy humour from the Meeramera series, nor is it quite so deathly serious as Kikoshi Enma was. However, it's still not something I'd ever want to watch again.

Finally, the ED is surprisingly awesome!

A sad daily reminder that Mitsuo Iso remains disappeared... (._. )

Truly, the Master on these matters:

Leonard Tai said:
This was from Shonen A's Sadamoto Yoshiyuki interview:
"...there were a lot of holes in the plot. For example, I asked (Hideaki
Anno) why only children pilot EVAs. His immediate response was 'Right, I
must get this sorted out.'
, then he got all worked up."

If Doki Doki sucks so much why do y'all keep watching?

I don't think it sucks... I like DokiDoki Precure...

Also, it seems like I'm the only one here not planning on watching Free!. Its not out of dislike or anything, I just have no interest in watching it.

This is the sort of writing that really takes a magical girl show to the next level. If only Precure wasn't so scared of doing it then it'd be more than a middling show much of the time.

Pretty depressingly awesome episode and so intense there once the climax came and everything. Keeping Eraser relevant and actually doing things really keeps this anime quite excellent.
To think theyd even have him succesfully take Shunsuke core. Poor guy and for Shunsuke, this failure must be difficult, I wonder if he will go through a depressing type of ordeal characters do. :(

I guess I missed both things, Ive not queued it to rewatch yet. Pretty good of the writer to keep things things in memory and bring them back up later on.

Yeah same here. I'm sure it'll be well made and all but I'm actually thinking of starting K-On during that time.

Just because.

It was more interesting when it seemed like there would actually be swimming.

Actually kaito is also a prime example of things forshadowed since the start.
In the manga , kaito actually come in the island Gon is ( first chapters ) and that's where he learns about his father. The character stay unusued until the current chimera arc . In the 2011 version they used a flashback to try to patch things up is but that's some things they missed for this adaptation.

The writter has a LOT MORE things that you might have forgotten that will come back in ways you won't expect.... Look forward to the rest

Date a Live 06

Well this was a hot springs episode, but probably one of my favorite, because it wasnt mostly at the Hot springs. Most of it was spent watching cute girls blowing up shit. Thats my kind of entertainment right there. Yoshino is beyond adorable at this point and Tohka is way up there too. shes jealous of MC paying attention to yoshino and the whole thing is really rather precious to watch. This show has some pretty fun action in it too and it occasionally borders on zany (veggie nuke). Date a Live is just a ton of fun to watch in all the right ways.
Oh yeah and next episode is the one I saw with Kurumi, so I know already its great! But I will watch it again, because Kurumi is a goddess.

rankings thus far:

Tohka > Yoshino > Origami > Reine > Tamae > Origami's AST team > Imouto

But it wasn't even really a hot springs episode! Total disappoint.

Also Origami's Sergent > her.

Hello, Anime-GAF. First time posting here, so bear with me if I mess up.

Saw a post about this one on Facebook and Hachiman seemed like an interesting character, so I decided to check it out. Glad I did as I'm really liking it so far. Love Hachiman's views on life and friendship. Not that I agree with them or anything, I just find them hilarious. Also liking where the plot is going.
I suspected that Yukino was involved with Hachiman's car accident, but it was still pretty shocking when it was confirmed.
It'll be pretty interesting to see where things go from here on out. Sidenote:
Is it me or is Yui basically Chiho from Hataraku Mao-Sama? Same VA, same short orange hair, same bubbly personality, both with a crush on someone who is mostly oblivious?

Not sure what the spoiler policy is in this thread. I'll just go with my gut.

Futari wa Precure 19-21

So shit just went down. In Episode 19, the Cures get their first real taste of defeat, with the final member of the Dark Five suddenly showing up to attack them, and proving more powerful than anything they have faced so far. With his magic ball that drains positive energy from the world, he even manages to
force the girls back into their powerless human forms
.

Luckily, a bit of heroics from Mepple of all people gives everyone a morale boost, and it turns out that the evil ball of energy draining isn't quite tough enough to contain REALLY STRONG positive energy. One PRECURE MARBLE SCREEEEEEW later (why they didn't try to use that at the beginning of the battle, I don't know), the battle is won, but the foe escaped and our heroes are visibly shaken by the encounter.

But all of that is immediately overshadowed by the next episode, in which Poisony finally gets deadly serious. First of all, she tries a sneaky gambit involving disguising herself as Honoka, but after this is foiled (first by
an unfortunate slip-up with Mepple and Mipple's names
, and then by
a piece of personal trivia that the Cures shared many episodes earlier using their Magic Notebooks of Secrets BUY OUR MERCHANDISE BUY IT ALL
), she resorts to the more simple method of brute force. Which, as it turns out, she has a lot of. Seriously, the Cures get tossed around like ragdolls by her terrifying volumes of hair. It looks pretty brutal.

I can't decide whether to be amused or impressed, though, by the fact that the most shocking ability Poisony displays, the one that really drives the Cures to near-despair, is
the ability to dodge
. What? You mean we can't
just shoot a PRECURE MARBLE SCREW at everything and it will invariably die
? Good thing they quickly find a method of getting around that by
sending the PRECURE MARBLE SCREW down the hair
. Good call, guys. That was a nice fight.
PRISM STONE GET.

But the drama doesn't end there, because
the death of his sister
finally prompts Kiriya to face up to the contradictory position he's found himself in. In the process, he proves that he is both
a complete failure as a villain
and a shining success as a character.

Honestly, I couldn't have blamed him if he had just turned into a one-dimensional villain at this point out of thirst for revenge. That would have been totally understandable, and still provided plenty of "OMG BUT IT'S KIRIYA HOW CAN WE FIGHT HIM ARIENAAAAI" drama. Instead, though, Kiriya stays true to the character development he's been experiencing and
confesses everything to Honoka like the decent guy he is at heart
. He doesn't even seem to resent the Cures particularly for, you know,
murdering his sister
. He just wishes things could have turned out differently.

After a heart-wrenching fight in which clearly neither side actually wants to hurt the other, Kiriya decides to be true to himself and to the Power of Friendship by
simply handing over his Prism Stone
, knowing full well that
betraying his master like this will cost him his life
. Kiriya, I salute you.

How is Hachiman oblivious?
His internal monologues make it pretty clear he knows how she feels.
