If the GPU is downclocked so it hits 800-900 GFLOPS, it makes the 1800 GFLOPS GPU of the PS4 twice as powerful. That is an enormous increase over the Xbone, as as they're based on the exact same architecture, the difference would literally be double.
Put another way, the Xbone would be a half way house between this gen (PS3/360/WiiU) and next gen (PS4).
What? No.so this is just some dudes talking that nobody has a clue who they are?

Can someone translate this into something I can understand, IF the rumors were to be true..?
Thanks.
You guys! It should have been posted to pastebin and then referenced unnamed sources to make it a valid rumor.so this is just some dudes talking that nobody has a clue who they are?

this is getting rediculous. What's going on in Redmond?
Different focus (3 OS, TV, TV, Multitask, TV, Snap, Cloud, Tv, etc) resulting in A LOT more reserved power for the OS and they prolly underestimated Sony's hardware (8 GDDR5)Interesting.. Is their any idea why this could occur?
So, depending on how you look at it, the PS4's GPU had a 33% or 50% performance advantage over Xbone's. If this rumor is true, how would those numbers change?
The talk of delaying are pretty far fetched. MS has far too much at stake, far too many contracts, far too many developers who are developing for this fall. I think they'd sooner launch with limited quantities than let the PS4 run rampant.

So does that make XBone closer to Wii-U than it is to PS4 in power?
LOL.
No way this is true. ESRAM manufacturing issue might be (and highly) true, but GPU down clock? That's just insane.
MS can't be that stupid.
or can it?
That doesn't make any sense.

We'll find out if these numbers actually mean anything in 5 days. If the games still look awesome. Meh. If they look like PC ports with DX11 features then we've got problems.
Interesting.. Is their any idea why this could occur? Did Microsoft not do the calculations correctly?
I honestly can't think of another system that was plagued this much by negative pr after an announcement. It seems like every other day there is another issue appearing that makes it seem like less and less of a potential purchase for people. This must be like a dream come true for Sony and Nintendo, it's almost like Microsoft wants them to do well.

Raw power closer to the Wii U with the same architecture as ps4.
I Googled "FLOPS Dreamcast" to see what its performance was, but the search results are heart breaking.
Wow, I didn't think of that. This is why I'm having a hard time believing this. If it ends being true the differences in games would be pretty noticeable. I mean, what are the number for the new bandwidth of the ESRAM with the rumoured downgrade, fellow GAFers?A decrease in GPU clock speed would also decrease the amount of memory bandwidth the system has, because the ESRAM's bandwidth of 102GB/s is directly tied to the 800MHZ clock speed of the GPU.
And considering how much more marketing dollars MS is supposed to spend, it's terrible that those marketing dollars are actually marketing FOR your competitors.
Are you sure you are talking about the same Wii U that launched last year?
Even with the down clock its no where near Wii U levels.
Games running on Dev kits and PC's wont tell anyone anything.
This is just... complete utter bs. And this is suppose to be Next-gen? What the heck is MS even thinking? MS clearly wants Sony to win.

The gap is closer (smaller) to the Wii U.Are you sure you are talking about the same Wii U that launched last year?

Depending on the issue, it could be a shift of one ">" or nothing.Yeah but my question was if it becomes closer to Wii-U than PS4.
Ok like this.

PS4>>XBone>>>>Wii-U

If the the games look amazing at 1.2TF, they're still going to look amazing at 900Gflops.

Wafer orders have to be placed quite a bit ahead of planned production dates.if it is just yields, is there a chance MS brute forces it and just orders fuck loads of chips to get enough good ones, and sucks up the cost - assuming yields will improve within 12 months?
Probably yeah.In reality the gap will between the Wii U and the XBONE will be much bigger. Due to GCN being more efficient.
