After this terrible reveal show and all this bad news coming out everyday ( the baddest the underclocking one) could this possible?

I think MS should get his steps back and delay the console in 2014 change gpu and fix other things

They're in too deep to stop this train. They can either hope they get on to good tracks to keep doing or off into a crater they go.

No. They will probably win next gen even with all the bullshit the console comes with. Pachter is probably right lol.

Its too late, they cannot allow Sony to reign free this holiday season, they also probably have tons of deals with their partners regarding all sorts of things, they financial forecasts are dependent on the Xbone being released this year.

Perhaps they need to learn a lesson, much like Sony learned theirs in 2006-2007, if Sony did not learn their lesson the PS4 would today be a very different, Kutaragi led console

Are you nuts? To paraphrase Pachter "I'm not sure you understand how business works."

They have a different agenda than Sony, pure and simple. And that isn't necessarily a BAD thing, if you want the prettiest games then get a PS4, if you want an all in one system then get xbox... At least wait for E3 and check the games out first.

Too early for that my dude. MS is doing fine. They have smart and talented folks there. They will adapt if this system ends up not meeting exceptions, just like SONY.

There's no way they could realistically do that.

That aside, given their goals, they really don't have any reason to slam on the brakes anyway.

some keep saying this...but they had a year head start and a 8mil head start with no competition. But that didn't matter at the very end.

so how will they "win" now with Nintendo already having their system out, along with Mario and friends coming later this year...as well as similar TV interactive features being part of the family system that is the WiiU.

as well as with Sony also releasing their system at the same time? How will Microsoft win? Do yall mean in the US Only? or do you mean world wide sales?

edit- on topic.

no they shouldn't throw in the towel....they just need to release their exclusive games. They were already going to have the power disadvantage to the PS4, so they might as well just do what they have to do to launch on time, while at the same time avoid $2 billion in warranties.

exclusives, money hats, and a reliable system are the key imo. I don't think they will "win" but that doesn't mean that they can't still do well this gen.

i still dont understand how an "all in one box" needs to connect to another box

I think all of this negativity is just an over reaction. It's a combination of the glory of the Internet at its "finest" and very irresponsible "journalists" that have spun stories and jumped on the hate bandwagon. It's just an over reaction that will likely dissipate once E3 happens and "OhEmGee! Halo Firveeee"

You can't stop something like this, the PR disaster that would come of it would be, well a disaster.

MS best hopes is buckle up, tight, and hold on for dear life, because this is going to be ONE wild ride

I personally don't believe the GPU rumors and I'm the first to admit I enjoy watching people getting hyped up over rumors only to be let down by reality...like the Xbox thread before the reveal.

20CU/64MB eDRAM/12GB believe!

Xbox had a good run but they'd be crazy to continue on with the release of the Xbox One. I hope they realize before it's too late.

Many peoples including me will still have fun regard less powerful than PS4.
MS should clarify all vague things as soon as possible. Hope MS gains lots of positives this E3 with games they are going to show.

Too late.
What they could an should do is at least drop the anti consumer bullshit. That would make the xbone look less like the abomination it is now and i may consider getting it if the price is down a few years from now.

Microsoft probably doesn't even see any problems beyond a bit of negative press floating around. If they lose a shit load of money and market share, then suddenly they'll gain all these insights into what they did 'wrong' just in time to sell you the next thing.

I would imagine in the long term it'd be smarter hardware-wise just to have a modest delay (come out in spring) and be able to have significantly more powerful hardware at little to no extra cost.

But then that gives Sony valuable lead and they would still lose their foothold. They're stuck between a rock and a hard place I think, and it hurts doubly so how they're alienating at least a vocal chunk of the hardcore base. They just have to hope it's a vocal minority that's the opposite or near opposite of the silent majority, but it IS possible that they're going to be in an unfavorable situation no matter what they do.

They should have waited for illumiroom to be ready before they announced it.
Would have been worth the delay, as they would have had an edge over Sony

No. Why? For all the things we're talking about, the drawbacks, the policies, and the technical power questions, it's probably still going to outsell the ps4. Sad? Maybe, but true.

No. they clearly have a very different strategy to that of sony

what strategy?

i think that is the yeld problem and underclocking rumor is true..sony should screan all the e3 conference long "our machine is 70% 80% more powerfull than other consoles"

ms know that in europe 90% of countries dosnt have netflix and as happen with x360 in most countries they cant do partnership with satellite tv as sky tv coz would cost too much
(here in italy they dont have a sky player or sky go in the x360)

so i really dont get their strategy

Things can drop at the touch of a hat, but more likely online policies would, not hardware. That has far more momentum that can't be stopped easily.

YEah they could change the DRM, forced online etc. stuff but it´s way to late for bigger hardware changes if they want to launch this year and we have pretty much all the information we need about the hardware.

Based on. . . one generation? So the WiiU is totally going to dominate everyone, I guess. Perk up, Nintendo fans. The future is saved.

I think apart from the HDMI In overlay, the ps4 also is an all in one box. The ps3 is a much more all in one than 360.

Bad news or not, xbox one will still very well, consumers mostly are dodos.

Thus, they should go ahead full steam. And give us a drama to watch.

Watch MS pour millions in marketing and see them being even more anti consumers and sell more than Xbox360. watch them and learn

Raindrops fall really fast. A bunch of rain drops hit together and they make a puddle. Puddles rinse off and the XB1 is a sidewalk for a lot of people.

With all due respect, but it's threads like these which completely underline the statement that gamers/GAF really don't understand how this industry works.

It would cost them an ungodly amount of money to rethink it now, next to what it already cost them to develop this thing. Also, it wouldn't really instill confidence to investors, retailers, consumers, developers or publishers if they'd do this.

All MS can do currently is to steer the ship in the right direction.

we know ms ....they can have 2 or 3 games more than ps4 at start but n some years they will concentrate more on casual gamers..(and its ok) BUT this time they dont have the HW to stay long and compete with the ps4

the power difference between the two console is too big and in 3 years u will see it clearly...

now i dont know if ppl love nintendo "style" ..but no i dont ( this dosnt mean i dont have respect for nintendo)

It would be foolish for Microsoft to retire. They spent billions on the original Xbox just to get a foothold in the market and did a great job and probably have just started turning a profit on their initial investment in the past few years. To think they would just end this long term investment would be crazy. Their reveal was stupid plain and simple. Netflix and TV on your console is a nice bonus but should not be the focus or one of the only things talked about during the system's reveal.

Im sure that the machine will be capable of a lot. I wasted my time watching that conference and was given no idea of what kind of games I will see on it, except for Sports games and Call of Duty (which every system has). I think E3 will be the determining factor for the system, if it has great games and is a gaming machine I'm all in. If it only has great TV exclusives and Cable support, I'm not wasting my money.

The only thing for them to rethink is how they market the machine or portray it to the public. Their reveal made it clear that they are trying to market it as a multimedia device, not a game system. This is a big mistake as Computers, Phones, Tablets, Laptops, and even previous generation game consoles are all multimedia devices. People aren't going to pay 400-500 dollars (my estimate) for a machine that does something that many other devices are capable of. That small market is already filled by Roku box anyways. 10 years from now those services wont work anymore and those will be useless assets.

If I was them I would market my device as a gaming system that is great for everyone whether they like Call of Duty, RPGs, Sports Games, Platformers, Party Games, etc. They should try and show people why their video game system is better than the others at being a video game device.

In the US? Maybe, and even that is up in the air

No chance in hell in Europe and Japan
