This is to quiet down some of the already few (proportionally) people that care about low GPU clock speed and bad yields and everything (DRM etc). The rest of the potential customers, who are a completely different group, are not going to give a damn, because they are not aware of these "details" at all. They are just gonna buy that damn thing. Unfortunately. People on GAF or generally on gaming forums, although critical, don't mean anything to MS at this point. It's fairly obvious.

So you dont believe that when people start buying these things and

A) end up not being able to play their console because of any genuine internet issues

B) end up having a much more difficult time trying to trade in, or buy used games

C) realise that when their kinect is not plugged into the sustent, or breaks it does not work

D) the system ends up with yet anothet rrod level issue because microsoft rushes the product out the door to compete with sony

Or E) go to a friends house who has a PS4 and notices genuine differences in quality level between the Xbone, and PS4 versions of games

that people will just shrug their sholders and say " meh, I just love that Xbone so much, who cares!?" This idea that Microsoft is bulletproof is truely crazy, they might be able to sell out their first batch based on hype, but if these issues remain as they are up to, and after launch Microsoft is going to be in deep shit.

So...From what I've learned on GAF consensus is that whatever the majority of the forum agrees on, the opposite will actually happen.
I.E.: The Vita. Everyone thought the Vita was the best thing since sliced bread and looked what kind of sales its getting.
The 3DS: GAF thought it was the best thing since Vita sliced some bread and the system is only just hitting its stride.

Lets see what happens with the XB1 and PS4.

The Xbox One may hit it's stride pretty early or later like the PS3 after it's shaky start, huge price, and difficult to program for architecture. Right now though, things aren't looking too hot for Microsoft's new console and you cannot deny that.

Too many missteps in such a short amount of time isn't a good thing for the console's image.

Can it even be a curse when it's all your own doing? They brought this on themselves with poor decision after poor decision.

The third console curse is always the manufacturer's fault. It happens when the platform holder fails to read the market completely: Sega's Saturn release date "ruse", Nintendo sticking with cartridges for the N64 and Sony launching the PS3 at $599 with little to no system sellers.

The majority people here upon the reveal of the Wii U thought it was a confusing reveal and the questioned the appeal of GamePad. The Wii U has been doing worse than the GameCube so far. The only people who thought it was going to be a huge success were the die hard Nintendo fans

Nintendo came out years later (this year) and admitted they needed to do a better job of seperating the Wii U from the Wii and making sure consumers knew it was a new console.

I used to lurk back then, and majority of posters thought Sony lost their damned minds at the 2006 E3 presentation, they were right since the console struggled for years before the Slim came out and Sony did a complete re launch

Really this entire idea that "GAF" (which mind you is not some hivemind, but many different posters with many different and unique opinions) is always wrong just has no weight to it.

I think you're confusing all of gaf with the posts of those people who were hyped for the Vita and 3DS and are probably mostly still loving their purchases.

Aren't people still happy with their handheld purchases? both vita and 3ds owners? I don't get your point.

I have a Vita and I'm happy with it.
Point is what GAF usually agrees on, the opposite happens.

I'm not saying GAF is a hivemind. When I say GAF consensus, I talk about the majority of what I've been reading on this forum. And the majority says XB1 is going to fail. Just like there was huge hype over the Vita, and its struggling. Just like there was hype over the 3DS, and its only just starting to live up to the hype.

I'm not saying Buttocks is wrong on his info. I'm saying GAF outcry doesn't mean much of anything in the long run.

False. As per CBOAT and some other iirc, the rumours about x1 being permanently connected to internet were true previous to orth-saga. Word of mouth/internet media is hell of weapon if used correctly

I wanted to dominate the living room. Then I took an ESRAM in the knee.
the steam pic is funny and some of the people saying they wont buy the xbone will probably end up doing so,

By the way, am I the only one annoyed by the prospect of somehow having to put the Wii sensorbar, the Kinect, and the PS4 camera (assuming I need/want one) onto my TV set, if I want to have all consoles? That will look ridicolous.

The PS3 reveal was laughable. The XBox One makes you laugh too, but its a nervous laugh, like the one you give when an ex girlfriend calls you and tells you you should get tested.
The PS3 reveal was amazing. Completely fake and overhyped, but we didn't know that until a year after. The banana controller was laughed at, but only that. People are mixing up E3 2005 and 2006. At this point it is Sony that is mimicking the PS3 reveal the most, not Microsoft. (It being a good reveal which hyped up everybody)

A reader who has all the systems minus wii u. Neogaf is good for news that hasn't hit other sites yet. If I'm defending the Xbox one, its because I'm sick of all the negativity.
We should just stop talking about it altogether. Maybe it'll go away.

I truly hope you are right. Given that they don't correct any of their mistakes after launch, they are doomed seriously. But look at those huge queues outside of big US retailers for other famous products before even them being proven worth bying or not. That's what bugs me.

But people agreed it looks good, and people are still happy with their purchase. there was never a consensus or 'Gaf' thinking it would be a big success.

This isn't true either.

Hi, should I give you an hour to prove what the majority of the forum thought or let you miss e3? Hm?

Knock it off.

I believe none of this bs, MS is not going to downgrade their console, when 75 percent of the industry relies on graphics. ESRAM ensure a connection to the processor thus allows for developing to push more power from the GPU. All this talk about this being the cause of a forced downgrade from a hardware input is 100 percent false.

mental butt locomotive guy is best. shows up ever year or so with crazy true news. Always gets proved right. sad that the xbone is sounding like ass.

Sony sounds like they are playing this really well, the last of us coming out with 10's across the board and following it up with the E3 announcement. MS should be worried.

Not sure if serious.

Sony's reveal was Meh. It only looks good because Microsoft's reveal was repulsive.

How is Sony mimicking the PS3? Cell? Now if your talking about a wide range of exclusive titles that go beyond FPS and Racing games, then you have a point. It can't be courting indies... I don't get it.

Interesting, we have a number of notable people on Gaf saying its true, do you have any proof to back up that they are mistaken, or lying?

I guess it really wont matter if Microsoft has games being demoed on PC during E3. They can just claim that the xbone is not ready to be played. It will be interesting to see if any PS4/Xbone Graphics comparisons leak out after, or during the show.

You mean like how the Wii U sold gangbusters because GAF said it would bomb?
Oh wait.

man, you don't see Y2Kev threaten the mighty pimp-slap of banning very often.

Maybe bish is giving free lessons to some of the other mods in preparation for E3? :p

Ummm, I dont think there's any way to dispute the fact that a console is more of an investment than the games on it.

I don't see how you could argue this at all! Depending on your definition of "investment" I have spent 5-6 times as much money as I did on my PS3 on games for it over the years.

Seriously... Microsoft, just bite the bullet and delay the Xbone until next year. Get your hardware shit straighten out, have your development tools mature and launch with better or on par hardware and at a better price.

I don't think they can afford to do that. They'll just push more people to either buy a Wii U or a PS4.

Just meant in general hype/reception, not specific points in the conference. PS3 reveal was good, caused hype. PS4 reveal was good, caused hype. Xbox One reveal causes anti-hype. At the end of E3 2005 Sony looked to be in pole position; after the reveal of all three it looks to be the same again. (Now I don't mean to imply Sony will get the E3 to mess it up for the PS4 or that everything was fake, still general reception of the conference)

I'm seriously wondering whether Sony will have to do the same with how high their spec are. Though they do seem to be a bit more competent when it comes to making reliable hardware, that can't change thermal realities if there is overheating.

Edit: though I suppose a lot of this is in Amds hands, so i guess we shall see what happens.
