Nostalgia: (def) a wistful or excessively sentimental yearning for return to or of some past period or irrecoverable condition
I love talking about old videogames that I grew up playing with people. 2600, NES, SNES, N64, Sega Game Gear, Genesis/Mega Drive, 32X/CD, Saturn, Dreamcast, Playstation 1. What I like to bring up most was the memories people have when they first experienced a certain game, console, or an introduction to a franchise. The same could be said for what it is like visiting these games for the first time 10, 15, 20, or even 30 years after they were initially released. Is that magic timeless?
Along with that the relationships these games had to your everyday life or how they coincided with major events in your life, such as becoming friends with the kid down that street that had a Genesis when all you knew was the SNES or how you and your family member that usually never played games got surprised you with their addiction to Dr. Mario or Sonic 2.
I think this could lead to an interesting discussion on skype.
And before people start posting, "This is just Retronaughts" or insert podcast talking about classic games. Yeah you are right. But I think we can put an interesting twist on it and provided some diverse experiences from our past. Not everyone is going to have the same insights and history with a given topic.
Here is my idea:
3 or 4 of us connect through skype and discuss just 1 game (i.e. Mega Man 2) or event (When we got a new console) per episode. Talk about our first experience with the game and the other memories of our life outside of the game during the time we played it. Perhaps one person will be someone who just recently played the game for the first time to see if it still holds up and reproduces some of the memories the other hosts have.
People would just need to show up:
I have recorded over 400 hours of podcasts (about 280 episodes) over the last 7 years and currently host one that averages between 10,000-15,000 downloads per episode. I know what I am doing. I would make a post in this thread saying the next episode will be about, "Blaster Master." The goal would be for everyone to replay it the week leading up to the recording so the game is fresh in everyone's minds. The guest would need decent mics/headsets and a good internet connection for skype. I will handle the editing, the hosting, etc.
The working title I have in my mind is, "Co-Op Nostalgia" (I think the word Nostalgia should be in the title).
Hopefully some of you are interested, it would be really cool to give something back to this community for how awesome it has been to me. If you are interested, let me know in the thread. We could get something put together as soon as next week to do a trial run. I will announce a game and we will go from there for picking the people who will be on the recording.
Either way, thanks for taking the time to read my thoughts and considering the possibility.

Edit: I think we should start with an easy topic: The Legend of Zelda on the NES/Famicom.
