How is that suposed to work? consoles and PC are becoming similar, but there's no way MS goes his way on creating an Xbone emulator on PC.

games will all run on a Virtual Machine in ONE so essentially they could make an emulator... next, next gen it could run on tablets or whatnot and probably the next next machine pretty easily, possibly so yes, long term why would they not want to keep you invested in your investment in their ecosystem like iTunes store.

Next next gen comes and you can play every ounce of digital media you own on it? no brainer to stay there

I love the NFL, I love fantasy sports, I like Call of Duty, I like motion controlled gaming, I buy all my games new, I don't rent games, I don't loan games, I don't resell games, and I have a solid internet connection at home.

But you know what's funny? I still don't want this console.

Cant wait to watch the video! Get ready GAF!

Not a fan of the guy by any means, but this is a good thing because it gets countless people to see MS's bullshit, since he's sponsored and all.

To those saying that Sony will be doing the exact same: how can this type of ownership management be handled if your console doesn't need to be online?

Microsoft said you needed internet to Xbox from the start of this implosion while Sony recently said you never have to connect their box to the internet.

What horrible, horrible fucking news. I will not give them a single dollar for that piece of junk. It is my sincere hope that none of you do either. Pass AznKnight's image online so people become aware.

Its already up on my Facebook and I am spreading it to everywhere I can think of.

Publishers will quickly find out that blocking used game sales in the first 3 months will only lead to severely depressed new game sales. They'll end up losing more money than they gain, esp at $59.99 prices.

Ubisoft quickly found out its always online PC DRM wasn't worth the effort, soon EA and Activision will realize the same thing.

Bane? Get them on board, I'll call it in.
My guess is that Sony will have no online requirement, but will still have the same used games bullshit because its probably being mandated by the big publishers.

Bingo.
All the used game stuff sounds like the work of the big name publishers refusing to accept that their methods are losing them money and trying to find a scapegoat instead.

It will still be bullshit, but at least I know I can leave for a few days, come back, and my PS4 will still work.

Does everyone remember the first time you played an NES?

Miyamoto actually came to my house to make sure I could connect to the internet after every castle.

Yes, I remember him getting very upset when I would had my controller off to my brother. Sharing wasn't allowed.

How is Microsoft going to handle banning? The shittiest thing about Steam is you can lose access to all your games at their discretion. Usually this is only reserved for people who are obviously exploiting the system or issue chargebacks, but it is a real fear.. Would getting banned from Xbox Live for one reason or another mean I lose access to all my games I've bought?

"Because Microsoft's doing it, Sony will do it too!".

I'll just repost this here:

Link.

Third party publishers matter.
Sony can't ignore them, and they wouldn't even want to, they're not a charity.
They're in the game for the cash like Microsoft is.

IF 3rd party publishers are pushing this, i can see Sony bending to it easily.

Yeah because the way to increase sales is to give people a lot less value for the money. This will total stop publishers from spending 100 million on B level franchises and be in total shock when it does not sell like COD.

This does nothing to fix anything. It will kill the industry as it just raised the price to game by a ton.

Outside of the 24hr checkin, it seems more of less like how current digital games are treated including XBLA.

The only way the policy will change evolve will be based on sales, so we will see.

I don't think it will personally affect me buying an xbone because I don't feel that strongly about these particular issues ( have good Internet and don't lend out games). I certainly will make sure that friends considering buying one understand the new paradigm though

Dude really a Game of Thrones SPOILER in this thread???? WHAT THE FUCK????!!!!!

That's the downside to the infinite power of the cloud, you could run into anything, anywhere. I wonder if there is any correlation between those who haven't read GoT and those who don't have broadband?

Quite excited to hear his Well-Spoken, Articulate and Level-Headed response.

But seriously I can't wait to hear him rip them a new one. His last video looked liked he was on the verge of angry tears of disappointment and rage.

Tell em Joe!!!

His previous response looked like he had not been to bed and he was in utter disbelief. I expect even better now that this shit has finally been confirmed. They knew they could not hold it back any longer. The dam was bursting already, because band-aids could not patch it.

Hell it's even cheaper than used, and you don't have to deal with any shitty scratches.
Actually, this one's an interesting one to bring up because thanks to the lack of DRM you really COULD sell it off to someone and all they need to do is patch.

At any rate Steam lets me stay offline way longer than the X1, which means you really DO get less restrictive DRM there. Seriously, this is a shitty attempt at compromising between going all digital and still letting you sell/give games, and it's some convoluted mess that comes at too heavy of a price for me. I'd rather they just told everyone to buy their own copies and "deal with it" than this.
