I can't help but laugh whenever I see deals for on-contract phones.

Yeah, you're getting a better deal than you normally would, but you're still going to be uber-fucked by that contract.

There is no other option in the US besides prepaid or T-Mobile (who doesn't work for a large chunk of the country).

If you want LTE, you're going to be paying contract monthly prices, so why not get a discounted phone?

I am somewhat tempted to go to AT&T from my prepaid since I just discovered you can get 3GB plan for the price of Verizon's 1GB (or even less, if you don't get messaging). But I really really wish they had even a $10/month discount if you bring your own phone.

Very true.

It's a fucked up system, indeed.

Grandfathered unlimited data = I'm never buying another subsidized phone as long as I'm on Verizon.

WTF, this is a STEAL. I'm assuming 2-yr contract, but still that dam Pill is retailed for $200. Hell even the phone is $200 on contract

Hell it would almost be worth it to buy this and Pay the etf a month from now. Sell the pill and you end up with a nice phone for $250 or so that sells for 500+ on eBay/cg.

Well yeah, that's the outstanding exception. I chose to leave Verizon unlimited LTE by getting a discounted phone which lead me to say screw this and leave Verizon to go to prepaid. I am pretty happy with prepaid and the Nexus 4, the savings are great, but I will probably eventually go to AT&T sometime this year. I won't go back to Verizon because their plans for a single person are absolutely terrible now that they force the Share Everything plans. AT&T got it right by at least keeping their individual plans.

Unlocked unsubsidized phones are easier to swallow than CDMA variants though. I'm hoping the cheap Nexus trend continues.

Wow that's a good deal. But even if it was still available, I don't want another 2-year contract (ours ends in September)

Edit: I currently have an iPhone 4S and have a lot of paid apps and jailbreak tweaks, I'm not ready to switch phones anyway haha

Good deal, however I went with the Galaxy s4 when I renewed my contract. Sprint has some pretty decent deals in that regard -- Traded in my old Rezound and ported my number from verizon, ended up paying only 95$ for the phone. It was a steal! I love the thing so much.

I went from the 4S to the S3. Not exactly the same, but were there questions you had regarding the jump from iOS to Android?

I'm just wondering if those who have upgraded from the 5 to the HTC one are happy with their decision. I still love iOS but it feels old as shit.

You're good at your job, because that's the exact reason I upgraded.

After I got the 4S, I quickly became stale of iOS in general. Once the S3 and HTC One X launched, both seemed leagues ahead, software wise, from what was being offered on the iPhone 5.

Decided to try droid for the first time with the S3, and was not disappointed. The extra real estate on the screen, the power user level of customization, it would be extremely hard to let that go now that I'm accustomed to it.

HTC Sense 5 has also taken some drastic improvements. I really like Blinkfeed, the audio on this thing is no joke, and the build of the phone is by far, the best I've ever held. It screams "premium" to me, which is something I haven't felt since the iPhone 3G.
