Kingdom Hearts III Announced for PS4

Hopefully I wasn't the only one who cried during the reveal. :'(

When that music started playing, it hit me like a load of bricks. All that nostalgia. All those memories of when I was 8, 9 years old, becoming so taken and entranced. The innocence of youth, a time of simplicity.

A time when things were so much simpler. When life was just about doing your chores and making sure you got good grades. Where summer vacation was all about playing Jak and Daxer, Sly Cooper, Ratchet and Clank, and so many other games with your best friends until you passed out from being tired.

A time when there was no debate about DRM, Always Online, Anti Consumer-ism, Micro Transactions, DLC, and Free To Play. A time when there was no worries about what degree your going to pursue, or how your going to keep yourself awake enough to work at 2 part time jobs, and go to college in order to pay off your titanic student loans.

A time when Life, and Gaming, was simple.

To me Kingdom Hearts is the cornerstone of this time, of this "once-upon" a time youth. I miss that person, I miss that time. A simpler time.
*sniff sniff* Damn I think I got something in my eye. :*(

I feel ya man. I remember when I first got KH2. I was in high school and I got it the day it came out. Brought it to my best friends house and played it all night. And played it with my kid sisters so much we bonded over it haha. I'll never be too old for some games.

Games like this are some of the only things that bring back those feelings of innocence and youth when things were a lot simpler. No worries about bills, and careers, and all the stress of adult life.

My eyes may have suddenly gotten a little watery during the easer. As a very shy youth, it just reminded me of getting away from the scrutiny of my peers and the outside world, doing something I liked, and holding something in my hands that was as fantastical as most of my imagination.

I'm a grown up now though, so ALLERGIES YOU KNOW?

I think that's what makes Kingdom Hearts so special to me.

From an outsiders perspective, it might look silly, the plot might make zero sense, and so on and so forth.

But to me it's THE definition of simpler times...and a shit load of nostalgia. As long as kingdom hearts 3 stays true to it's series roots, than I will have to thank Square and Nomura for bringing a piece of that special time, that I miss so dearly.

Hard to get too excited considering how long this will take to be released. Been there too much. But still, as a big KH fan who has beaten all the games (sans 3D since I don't have the means as of now), I'm happy. A lot of memories attached to this series.

Lovely that it's finally announced. Hope it borrows a lot from BBS and builds up from there. It will be interesting to compare what's in this video to the final game, the first KH2 trailer was super beta.

Exactly. I almost don't mind the wait, because I know I'll really appreciate the experience, maybe even more so now.

This game looks so cool. What a perfect graphic style for the series. Can't wait to see more worlds though I definitely wanna see Twilight Town fleshed out a bit more.

I want to see all the worlds flesh out more.

When you skip out on a whole generation, I expect a shit ton more.

I want Twilight Town to be at least 5x the size it was before, and stack that shit up with NPC's for christ sake! Make it feel lived in! Use the ps4 power to good work.

Yeah after skipping a gen there's no excuse to have empty worlds this time. Add some freakin NPCs. No debacle like in Olympus Coliseum where you hear the cheering of a phantom crowd or empty streets of Notre Dame.

The Pixar worlds could look amazing with the new hardware

You know I was awfully unsurprised when this and Versus got shown. I guess I'm just dead inside.

Will buy both though! <3

It'd be crazy if they could do unique outfits and maybe even texture work and filters for each world. I'd love to see a KH where they were more convincing in Sora and Co.'s integration into each world's stories.

This was the one I didn't see coming. There were clues given of course, but it always seem too optimistic. Holy shit indeed.

There are so many people who are going to buy this game and be so confused since they skipped out on all the side games. But itshappening.gif

I don't even... I was watching the stream with a friend in Skype, we are both huge Kingdom Hearts fans and when I first saw what looked like KH in HD with a pristine image-quality I literally spoke these words into Skype "That's doesn't look like the KH we know... what is this... this looks far too good for the remake... what is this... what IS this?" My friend was equally stumped and only stuttered out a multitude of "What..."'s and the moment I saw that KH III logo I squealed like never before and the entire song of Simple and Clean started to play in my head while my eyes got wet... nothing of this is exaggerated. I had the same feeling I felt back then when I first saw the TV spot for Kingdom Hearts on PS2, it's magic, it's emotions, it's back... it's really just Simple and Clean the message we got. Kingdom Hearts is back and thinking of it to be on the PS4 even... it's like imagining the size of the universe, my mind can't comprehend it, for this brief moment I forgot all sadness and problems I have and felt like back in the day when I had a PS2, thank you Kingdom Hearts III :)

Nope, pretty much everyone cried by the sounds of it - well those who are following it for a long time - like me :)

The success of others absolutely infuriates me.

KH Timeline on GT does a good enough job of summarizing stuff.

The reveal was amazing. I know a lot of people were waiting for this, so I am happy for them that it is coming out. I'm also happy I'll hopefully be able to play an amazing game in the future.

The game looks like it is in an early build, and will probably look a lot better at release, but some of the stuff I saw in the video did look like it was using next-gen assets. It was very fluid.

How old are some of you guys saying that this brings back their childhood?

Well I'm 19.

So I was around 8-9 years old. I remember renting the game from blockbuster, and was so hyped about playing it. But then I found destiney island to difficult so I stopped playing. Than in the 6th grade I had a few friends who were incredibly hyped of the announcement for kh2, so I started kh1 again, and finished it, and fell it total love.

Than I became obsessed with kh2 news. Went to khinsider nearly every single day. Always over analyzing every single of the famitsu scans, always jumping for glee when a new world was announced in the scans.

I remember even buying a gba JUST for chain of memories. Unfortantly I hated the combat, so i didn't get to far.

I loved kh2 ,when it was released..though it wasn't as good as the 1st one I though..didn't have that same inital spark. But it was still great in it's own right.

I'm a sophmore in college now..so kh is really what got me into square, and into rpg's in general. I have a lot of love for this franchise. A whoooooooooooooooole lot of love.

Not sure where you heard that. But the real issue is bad management. The KH team were stuck working on Versus for years and couldn't do KH3, and they did a bunch of side stories to fill up time (though BBS and DDD at least are important). Now the KH team is still working on Versus, and they have another team to fill their place for KH (the Osaka team) but it's taken years to get up to that point.
They didn't "do a bunch of side stories to fill up time", there's a reason why Nomura didn't jump from KHII straight to KHIII. He WANTED those side-stories made before KHIII. Maybe it wasn't the wisest move financially (spreading the games on different handhelds over the years), but he still wanted to tell those stories.

Also, Osaka team is considered the KH team nowadays, so they are obviously working on it, or at least have started the project until people are freed once other games are done to help finish it.

I didn't dare hope. I didn't.

I got both Versus and KH3 in one conference. Satisfied doesn't even begin to describe how I felt afterwards.

I've been listening to Hikari the orchestrated version over the past couple of days in anticipation.... I never thought it would actually happen. I am incredibly ecstatic and had the cheesiest smile when they showed the trailer. I was pumped.

Yeah when I initially saw the Disney logo I was like oh shit, but I expected it to be 2.5 remix. I did not expect the third game. Really is the game of the show despite this being a long way off. I'll be getting a PS4 the day this comes out

This was my exact same reaction. I was like oh yeah, its fucking HD remix....wait what is this....wtf. Then screaming and jumping around. I felt like a little girl seeing Justin Bieber. Not my proudest moment.

My friend was telling me to calm down but I was like having an aneurysm.

dont worry 90% of us in this thread did the same exact thing word for word

Note that neither FF15 or KH3 is mentioned as PS4 exclusive. Not trolling, stating the facts for others who may be looking to buy the game on other platforms.

There needs to be NPCs. People in these worlds. The last couple of KH games have felt empty in that regards. I don't care if thet double the size, just have people that can be talked to

Gonna get 1.5 HD remix for PS3 then 2.5 HD remix to relive those moments.

By that time I hope KH3 is out
