Batman: Arkham Origins - E3 Gameplay Reveal Trailer

That isn't Batman's voice and Joker's voice is terrible.

Why couldn't they get the guy who did Joker in Injustice? He did a good job.

Own that Deathstroke noob!

Batman's character design looks ridiculous, this would have been their chance to slim him down a bit... ugh.

Troy Baker nailed that voice though, good job on a young sounding Conroy, totally fits.
Joker guy on the other hand...

I'm apprehensive due to the new developer, but c'mon guys -- how can you lambaste the actors based on one line a piece? They sound fine to me.

It looks like...another Batman game, I guess? Nothing has me particularly concerned, or excited for that matter. I don't know how to feel, having loved the other two games.

Day one, but I'm still not too keen on the martial artist enemy and the just cause 2-like grapple addition. I fear they might mess those up, as the fighting/predator systems were already perfect as they were.
I'm also very turned off by Batman killing people. The guy in the first trailer getting impaled on the flashlight maybe was still alive, but the guy impaled on the Christmas tree?
Also, what's with all the impaling in this game? :D

Saw the GT Stream. If you loved the first two games, it looks like you'll love this one. The guy from WB Montreal said they aren't reinventing the wheel here. They are adding things carefully on what worked, and not changing what worked. Adding a couple new gadgets, some new fighting techniques, new areas (obviously), and new enemy typs. Looking forward to this one.

Link in OP is dead, try this one.

I have to say I'm a little disappointed. It looks.. soulless? There's something about the graphics that make it look bland. Either that or there is some weird filter.

And the snow is static - no footprints or anything during that brawl segment. I can't believe that is still happening in 2013.

Don't know, not really feeling it.

Gamespot 20+ minute demo with commentary. I really like the looks of the world, reminds me a lot of Batman Returns, and I like what the developer's saying about not trying to reinvent it but to add on top of it because it worked so well. Which is exactly what I wanted with it going to a new developer. That way Rocksteady can go crazy.

Anarky revealed too.

I enjoyed that.

Pros:

* The very vertical environment is gonna make gliding around so satisfying and fun. So much to see and do no doubt.
* Troy Baker sounds like he does a terrific job with Joker. I'm impressed.
* I like Bane's design. Decent dress sense. :P I prefer this tidier type of Bane than the standard comic book version with the tubes and shit.
* New detective mode looks fun

Cons:

* World seems so lifeless - are they sure we're playing in Gotham City? Or is the part in the demo a section that's more Arkham City-esque, with a proper Gotham playground (complete with pedestrians and that city feeling) in another part of the world in-game? I know they said the world will be twice the size of Arkham City but everything points to this just meaning the same shit with bigger buildings.
* Graphically hit and miss.

I believe the point of the Christmas Eve setting is so that they don't have to bother with a lot of pedestrians.

Goddamn, Troy Baker. Roger Craig Smith also surprising the hell out of me. Can't wait to hear more of these two, as well as the rest of the cast.

This is true. The gangs, the blizzard and Christmas eve means no civilians outside.

No civilians made sense in Arkham City, since it was a walled off prison. But no civilians in Gotham? I don't know.

Batman takes place at night and is notorious for crime. There's rarely ever that many civilians out in general. If you watched TAS, there was a WHOLE lot of empty roads in that.

Wow, I didn't think Baker's Joker would be as good as it sounds there.

It is no Mark Hamill. And no Kevin Conroy. To me it is more of the same bottom down to the fighting mechanics. This is what always happens when the original developer is not making it. I loved AA and AC but for this is have meh feeling to it.

They seem to be doing a decent job at emulating Hamill and Conroy. Definitely getting more excited for this.

Troy Baker's laugh certainly reminds me of Mark Hamil without a doubt, but Batman's voice is so-so for my tastes. If it turns up that Rock Steady is indeed developing a next-gen Batman game with Kevin Conroy I would be stoked. Still going to get this game for sure.

Honestly, after seeing the gameplay from E3, I'm not sure about this living up to the previous entries. I respect the fact that Rocksteady have moved on and WB are developing it, but it looks much too similar to the previous games, to the extent that it could've been dlc. The bigger gripes I had was that the UI has almost completely stayed the same, the combat moves being the same, and the mission structure being identical to the likes of the first and second entries, from what was shown in the demo.

I suppose I should be happy that they're sticking with what made the series amazing, but the elements that could easily be altered/improved have supposedly been kept the same. I'm not saying that the rest of the game is 100% going to be like this, but from what I saw I'm becoming a bit uncertain about this game.

This is what I keep thinking every time I see people bring up civilians.

When is Batman ever out in civilians' view? Why would civilians be walking around outside in a moral shithole like Gotham? :P
