Maybe it ties in with the always on Kinect? The Kinect could scan the room for polish letters on book shelves etc. and then get you banned until it can scan letters from a country where Microsoft has given you permission to play.

Realistically, Xbox brand doesn't exist in Portugal. However I have met some good fellow Portuguese gamers on XBL who do live in Portugal, I guess this sucks for them.

But there is a better option anyway (PS4), so they can just go with that.

My favorite thing is to walk into stores, see shelves and shelves of stuff for the PS2, even more for the PS3 and maybe a 6 foot shelf for 360 stuff

There's a Toys R Us store near my place, the only 360 game it has for sale is PES08

To be fair the excluded countries probably wouldn't have contributed that much to the Xbox one sales anyways. Xbox one is already in short supply so they need to make sure they come out in the big contributing markets first.

The last couple of years the main focus was Kinect in here. We did have a decent Halo 4 reveal where Celebrities was the priority and the gamers were the second priority (true fact).

I got one Xbox 360 Slim from Microsoft (for Free) with Kinect + 2 Games + 3 Months of XBL. The people who work at the Microsft HQ are decent people. They just are going to struggle again since one of the main problem was the lack of funds for Marketing and other things.

But this time the console itself is also representing a real problem for they to push upcoming sales.

Haha no South Africa, and I travel alot accross Africa, so even if they includes South Africa down the line, that 24hrs check in will screw me big time (for example I have been in Ivory Coast for work for the past week in rural areas, only have access to the net today to see the madness Microsoft came up with).

To those saying they aren't IP blocking... we don't know... but it's really not hard. ARIN has really broad registrations when it comes to super blocks. It's not like they have to have a table with 3 billion different IPs listed in it and figure out where each one is. 21 countries allowed... probably less than 100 super blocks to whitelist if they really wanted to block IPs. It's basically how all of the video services work (and why you can proxy/VPN around it)

You know, I'm not usually one to check a users post history but almost all of your posts are in regards to the Xbone and always defending it/praising it and it's games. Not accusing you of anything but it looks a bit suspect.

Even calling people in this thread trolls for being concerned about this and finding the late 2014 release for Japan (one of the major gaming countries) stupid.


Anyway, not to focus a whole post on an incurable fanboy (one of my real life friends is more than enough MS fanboy I can take), this seems really really stupid. Only working in certain countries at launce and even possible restricting the games to just that country (if I read right, if not it's just standard region lock as it is now on Wii U and 3DS).
Is MS trying everything they can to fail? Seeing how much people will buy a box they are making as unattractive as possible?
