same HDD case, its 5400 RPM Seagate 250 GB hard drive

i won't put all the photos, but i am gonna put the final result

now..in my opinion , if you don't have xbox 360, don't get this
for me,an optical audio output is very important , why they ditch that ?

the result from the site
Xbox 360 E Repair-ability Score: 8 out of 10 (10 is easiest to repair).

Without the flashy chrome bezels, the 360 E's case is easier to open than 360 S.

Highly modular design allows replacement of drives, fan, Wi-Fi card, RF module, button board, and heat sink independently.

Use of cards and connectors instead of cables, where possible, makes disassembly and reassembly a snap.

The hard drive is easily accessible for upgrade or replacement but requires buying a proprietary Xbox hard drive.

Use of clips instead of screws on the main case makes opening more difficult and potentially damaging.

i don't understand, why Microsoft made this version, f mr.don said this console is for people with no internet connection, they should remove the wifi card and Ethernet card too

I posted this in the other thread but it probably deserves its own.

Disappointing they didn't do any kind of comparisons, but I guess other sites will do that.

Man, they don't even have the excuse of blu-ray to cut out non-HDMI output. But I probably shouldn't be surprised Microsoft did this, and Roku did the same anyway, though unlike a Xbox you CAN enjoy all the same content with an older model not to mention they focused on really damn tiny.

Wait, what? No Optical Output? Well that would render my Astro A50s useless with the thing.

What a stupid decision.

Wait for real?

So my Tritton Trigger Halo 4 (Only for Xbox 360!) headsets wouldn't even work on an Xbox 360.....

Amazing move Microsoft.

HDMI only now? no optical? it's like WiiU now... interesting that both ps4 and one still have optical out.

Don't slims have 3 USB ports in the back?

Optical isn't that important any more you can reroute a optical from a TV via HDMI back into an amp on most "decent" TV's.

And most modern recievers/amps have HDMI throughput anyway.

Anyone got any noise or heat comparisons? Lack of AV out sucks I guess but I am totally a sucker for new hardware.

No optical out makes it pointless for me. My sound system is a Logitech Z550.
I think you're all mis-reading it. There is still optical output, but there is no AV output (component, analog video).

Not on my TV and its old, of course I have to change PCM to Dolby Digital.

You probably don't get real surround sound (that's usually how this goes). And if you do, you're very lucky and your TV is in the 1% that does DD pass through.

With the overwhelming majority of TVs on the market (including most new models), you will only get stereo this way.

There is no optical audio with this model and there's no adaptor.

Motherboard is basically exactly the same as the latest Corona 360 Slim, no die shrink or anything major like that. Disappointing.

what is it with Sony and MS to just release goofy ass second revisions? First the hideous "super slim" PS3 and now the newer 360 slim..

edit - are you guys sure the 3.5mm isn't an optical? That's what the Apple Airport Express has. a single 3.5mm jack that can be used for analog stereo or SPDIF optical.

You can see the back in the pics, where is the optical? Or is it part of the proprietary AV cable?

if it does optical on the 3.5mm, it isn't proprietary.. some of Apple's hardware does that also. apple's does either stereo audio or SPDIF optical depending on the cable plugged in.

Could it be a digital line output for audio ?
yes, it could be. Needs to be clarified.

ugh i might have to get one of these

my black elite for a few years back just shit the bed, need to replace it or just get rid of all my games and it, wont be playing them much but its so hard to let go of all those games

Really? I didn't know that either. I did that with my boyfriend's TV when he bought a PS3 earlier this year and it's surround sound. I didn't realize it wasn't common. I don't know what model, but it's a Sony 1080p LCD, maybe LED?

I'm looking at buying a new TV and receiver. Would a receiver generally be able to receive and output surround sound from an HDMI input?

Its important to me, therefore, it's an important feature!

No news about whether they chip is no longer 45nm or the power brick is smaller.

The IHS looks slightly different:

Could indicate a smaller die. Also Ifixit article suggests it's fabed at Global Foundries which has a mature 32 nm process.

Edit: Other changes include a missing scaler/video encoder chip and a few missing caps (smaller capacitance requirements because of a shrink?).
