I doubt this is true but if it is, I still wouldn't buy it. Thing is, these policies shouldn't have seen daylight. They have shown what they regard as the future, so sooner or later it will emerge again to bite us on the arse.

I'll be honest, the day the policies broke cover was the day I knew the industry would be better without MS

Didn't they just say not even three days ago that they weren't budging on this very thing, and that they're not worried at all about the situation?

Couldn't that GB be a repost of the Whathifi? Or vice versa? Man...it's too soon...

No more always online requirement
The console no longer has to check in every 24 hours
All game discs will work on Xbox One as they do on Xbox 360
Authentication is no longer necessary
An Internet connection is only required when initially setting up the console
All downloaded games will function the same when online or offline
No additional restrictions on trading games or loaning discs
Region locks have been dropped

Far too good to be true.

But didn't MS think that staying the course in the long run would prove to the consumers that their DRM decision is the right one?

This story just never ends, I can't imagine the PR positioning if this ends up being true.

lol, still have very little respect for microsoft... this may even make it worse (backtracking from their ideals)

still no buy at first, but I would thank them for this though, if it happened.

PS4 still more powerful and has better 1st party studios behind it (in addition to being cheaper). Not swayed. A win for consumers for sure though.

If this is true I have to re-evaluate some things.

Still MS have shown that they didn't put the consumer first in the beginning and that means a lot.

Dammit that means they will get rid of the feature that I could play installed games without inserting the disc.

That's something I was looking forward to.

It's almost impossible to believe, but it would be great news for Xbox consumers if true.

Well, not the ones who convinced themselves the DRM/used game blocking/24 hr checkin was great news, but for everyone else. ;)

I hope it's true mostly to see what the publishers would say, after so many industry types and the gaming press wannabe analysts have confidently proclaimed that MS would get huge publisher support for their policies.

Woah. And Patrick doesn't usually report nonsense and unfounded rumors regularly so I'm inclined to believe this is really happening. But we'll see I guess, maybe that Jimmy Fallon PS4 appearance where they touted the no online requirement and used games scenario sealed the deal for Microsoft to switch gears.
