But didn't MS think that staying the course in the long run would prove to the consumers that their DRM decision is the right one?

This story just never ends, I can't imagine the PR positioning if this ends up being true.

I kind of thought the same thing. I'm in no way, shape or form on board with their stance on DRM, but when they backtrack it kind of makes it seems like they never really were either.

Either make the hard call and ride it all the way down, or be reasonable from the start and never experience the backlash in the first place.

never heard about the cat, apparently
woah. i hope they keep the digital game sharing if true. DRM never bothered me so if I lose features because of this...ugh.

Really curious to see if they already have a revamped policy guideline ready to go, or if it's just a nebulous 'Sorry about, how about no drm and no always online?' statement.

Well this is great news. I think regardless of your preference (Sony vs MS vs Nintendo) this is an awesome turn of events for gamers in general. I really hope it turns out to be true and that Sony put the fear into them back at E3. I'd like to play Halo 5 one day.

Personally I thought the thoughts of local TV news showing disgruntled service men and women not being able to play Xbox was to scary to imagine

Sony left them hanging what could they do?

Hmmmm. None of their policies were gonna hinder me in any way shape or form. But no disc swapping and that kind of stuff was gonna kick ass. So umm.......good for everyone else, not so great for me.

Would be really good if true, but honestly they would need to change all their PR message altogether, creating an unprecedented mess.
The infinite power of the cloud would be gone and proved to be bs, their investements over their network totally wasted.
It's not that simple, also it's not clear how that would fit with their vision outside games.
So it's not so simple to make a 180 turnaround. Maybe they are planning to make some tweaks.

Please don't delude yourself with false hope people. It's too late for Microsoft to change the system and besides they are adamant that their vision for the new xbox that is connected online is the way of the future.

Seems too good to be true. But if it is.
+1 for consumers and I'm probably back to considering buying an X1.

Oh wow.

Still $100 too expensive. The removal of the DRM/authentication means that I could see myself owning it for Titanfall at a reduced price.
