Oh yeah, Regulus...

Now that Pluto and Saturn are back... maybe it's time to address that plot hole from a while back. Basically, in the manga Pluto dies at the end of R, but reincarnates in the current era like the rest who then awakens as a college student with S. That's why she was able to leave the gate, in addition to Saturn (who is leader of the outers) giving them all a new mission. Also, all of them already had their talismans to start out, as their function was different in the manga.

WE SELL CHILD VIOLENCE AND CHILD VIOLENCE ACCESSORIES
new best episode ever

So much gratuitous child violence... but it gave us something good!
Chibiusa's powers being revealed. BACK TO THE FUTURE

It's nice that Chibiusa has a friend. It means she'll be forgotten shortly, just like Naru (except Momo won't have her own pocket cock).

So, like GooP, I still think stuff like this is weird. Although I suppose if you are conquered, it becomes a matter of time when the conqueror's iconography becomes your own iconography. For me this raises a lot of interesting sociological questions, but since this is anime, none of that matters I suppose. lol

And, I really hope this show doesn't turn into tragedy porn. But that look and the history between the characters kind of suggests a dark turn or at least a revelation about the other elite girl from episode 3. This really is turning out to be a poor man's GooP. :p

There's a movie about Iwo Jima with Japanese actors and stuff. I doubt they thought about it more than that.
Well, there was that Clint Eastwood thing and I don't doubt that, but the flag raising is such a particularly evocative image.

Although then again, didn't the Enola Gay make it into an anime about nuclear war or something? I remember that coming up here ages ago. lol

Oh yeah, I figure I'd post this since it came up on IRC yesterday.

Vic Mignogna, of anime dubbing fame, has starting making a series of TOS fan films called Star Trek: Continues.

Here's his blurb.
Vic has been acting from the age of eight all the way through college where he majored in film and minored in theatre. Vic has been in countless professional stage and film productions but perhaps is best known as a prolific voice actor for over two hundred animated series and video games including Fullmetal Alchemist, Dragonball Z, Pokemon and many more. As a young boy, Vic fell in love with Star Trek and is realizing his boyhood dream to play the role of Captain Kirk.

I wonder if there's any crossover between anime dub fans and Star Trek fans. I suppose the better way to have done this would have been to make a fan-sequel to Star Trek: The Animated Series. lol

I will say, the episode that they released is a direct sequel to an original series episode and features the same guest actor that was in that episode. So there is some nerdery going on here anyway.

But still, I can't believe anyone with a brain doesn't know about the picture they're referencing. The symbolism extends beyond just nationalism.

Oh hey, it's Grant Imahara. Does he build and then blow up things in this?

Traveling through doors just to get to our destination! Sailor Pluto just keeps on Plutoing and not fighthing (because her fighting prowess is about as real as Pluto being a planet.), Chibiusa is rather useful throughout these events.

Dammit TUXEDO RAMASAMA, you were late because you wanted to do your schtick! You're not fooling anyone!.

Not sure why
they're shocked at Crystal Tokyo. They say it in Chibiusa's dream man.

Anyway, time travel yo!

Weird, isn't it? lol

M'Ress does have that crossover appeal needed.
Oh wow, I forgot about the Furries!

He blows up his George Takei impression. lol

Kelley's only non-Trek role throughout the 1990s (and his final role before his death) was the voice of Viking I in the direct-to-video animated movie The Brave Little Toaster Goes to Mars.

damn

The Light of El Cantare
DeForrest Kelley was the first cast member to pass away, IIRC.

That said, they still managed to trot him out on TNG's first episode.

I knew that Kelley died a few years before Doohan, but looking at Wiki now, I had no idea that they were both the same age. Doohan looked way younger than Kelley during Trek. Previous statement retracted.

Welles'd.

PLOTPLOTPLOTPLOTPLOTPLOT

So the details are finally out, why the dream forced Mamoru to be a douchebag, the identities of the who everyone was in the future (which was easy to figure out unless you're not too bright), but why in the fuck is it the 30th century? You mean to tell me it took them 10 centuries to do the horizontal monster mash!? I don't understand this at all. Oh and Chibiusa is the love child between Usagi and Mammalru

Why is everyone so young and hip, wipe out my boombox, and said listen to this

So good; Hatekeyama really nailed this episode. Is he actually going to storyboard the entire series by himself?

Poor crazy Megu. So far, this series has excelled at creating sympathy for characters with unpleasant and antisocial personalities. That scene with
Megu's father
was hard to take, and the way she mistreats the nurse out of frustration at her own loneliness and despair... it was really sad.

It's nice that they found a VA that can actually speak some English to play this role, unlike what they did for a certain half-German plugsuit wearer. She even shifts accent when saying English words in Japanese sentences which sounds a little odd for anime, although the lines the writers give her aren't always competent.

fHPkobs.jpg

This spoken English, on the other hand, is as advertised. Gotta start somewhere, though!

Oh, and I swear they're using a music track from Urusei Yatsura in this show.

Yeah, Doohan was a WW2 veteran with the RCAF.

Are these any good? I'm a sucker for that class, and could use something along that lines in my life right about now.
I think this game is more known for the fact that it teaches you how to mix hundreds of drinks more than anything else. I do have them, but never finished them. lol

Pokemon Emerald has fallen, but not before
becoming a Rayquaza

Chibiusa apparently fucked shit up, and caused creepy subtext to happen in this episode what with
kidnapping and taking the hand of a total stranger.

Have to say though, all the
Mamoru appearances reminds me of the Everyone is Jellal schtick from Fairy Tail

The battle of lust is a dangerous game
to the point that the WISE MAN is being WISE and controlling people based on how much their penis/vagina is aching for someone

Might polish the rest of R tomorrow with Yami Hat.

I've only played the first one, dunno how far I'm in the story right now. The main character just hooked up with the busty blond. I'm guessing there's a few branches if you want to pursue one of the other girls.

Game's decent, focusing mainly on character interaction. At times I wish there were less customers to serve so I can focus more on the plot stuff.

Mega Man Sins 19

You know, most shows would choose to play the heroine realizing she's in love with the hero in a flowery field full of butterflies and her confession of love to him in the rain as a happy, romantic occasion.

Not Mega Man Sins, though! Instead this show plays it for maximum depression, reminding you that the heroine and oh yeah, the entire world, is dying of magic robot cancer. And that however wonderful love must be, if you know its going to end very, very shortly no matter how strongly you feel it, that's terrible. And of course, since this is Mega Man Sins, the best possible way to express your feelings on the subject and also try and end your suffering? To goad the man who loves you into
almost killing you.

Yeah. Mega Man Sins only cares about finding your sad gland and kicking it in the balls repeatedly for 24 episodes.

Oh and also, in case you didn't already notice that Mega Man is Jesus,
this episode he gains a scar to his hand via piercing wound.

Be too strict with the RRRRRUURRRRRUUUU and you might get turned into a furry.

By the way, it actually gets said like that in this ep. PRIOR ART

Oh yeah, definitely share gashikunFLCL's positive view of the new magical stage stock. Each cast is quick and the whole sequence even builds momentum as it goes along, basically what the Motto! version was not.

Still kinda prefer Late S1's version, though.
