Week of August 19th to the 25th, 2013.

Fighting Games Weekly is the weekly discussion thread for all things fighting games. News, events, streams, videos, players, drama, everything fighting game related.

Don't know what to watch right now? Check the FGCPros Twitch Group or Jaxel's Stream Viewer. If you want to watch multiple streams at once, you can use Jaxel's customizable multiviewer as well.

New to FGC-GAF is the FGC-GAF Index which lists the fighting games GAFers plays as a neat reference with some rough statistics to boot. To add yourself to the index, quote this post and use the survey link below. Please remember to save/bookmark the "Edit your response" link so you can edit your responses if/when you buy a game already on the list or a new game that releases in the future.

Last week's thread.

If you have any suggestions for the OP, please do not hesitate to post in this thread or PM me to let me know.

So far I'm thinking S-Kill, Markman, and Dive.

So fucking hype for this game though. Probably going to double dip, without a doubt.

Yo FGC-GAF Divekick tournament? lol

I wanted to play Mr. N just for the Guilty Gear and No, you cannot win quotes.

But JeFailey got two championship belts and a dropkick.

I had no idea Demon Hyo still played at tournaments.

I think it was when he got bodied by Clockw0rk in an MVC2 money match that was my first exposure to competitive fighting games

I'm wondering if Divekick is an example of spending too much time hyping a game up. I've seen this game around for over a year now and I don't really care much anymore.

Or maybe I'm just trying to get on the Anime Avatars that Hate Divekick tumblr.

For the new thread: Chaos Code being streamed on twitch.tv/kombatnetwork
This stream would be 100x more hilarious to watch if everyone knew the really dirty stuff that's in this game. If the combos I can do can make people ragequit, you should see what people with good execution can do. o_o

Absolutely is a case I think. There is zero hype for this shit, despite even having the biggest personality on GAF tweeting about it on his twitter (Wario). In the FGC, it's received ample burn on streams (which isn't THAT much but certainly feels like it's that much) and maybe if it was a AAA title or something people could justify the drawn out hype cycle, but not really. I feel like I'm done with the game before even having played it, and that's a problem. Will still pick up during a Steam sale though, maybe when I have more time on my hands.

Also I love that tumblr.

Would love to see more of this. If you could link to any vids I'd appreciate it.

Divekick tournament to be the first GAF tournament ever to finish in reasonable time.

UFGT vicariously making everything happen on time.

I feel exactly the same way.

Still, it is something to do.
Yeah, I think this might just be me not having much time to game ATM. And then school starts in September and it's pretty much over when GTA/Pokemon/LMSH come out.

i think its the best vines of 2013 or something like that

all i know is its hilarious
This Vine compilation had me DYING. Some of these are incredible. EDIT: Oh god, it's been removed :( Wasn't the same as the one Bum's watching though.

How about an entire Youtube channel full of Chaos Code match videos? A lot of the more recent stuff is from tournaments on the updated arcade version, which isn't going to match exactly what's on the PS3 version but it's generally close enough (unless you're playing one of the Celias). That and the PS3 version should be updated... sometime (this is the worst part of dealing with anime fighters).

where's the divekick tournament guiz

I'm thinking of running it myself but I won't be able to have a thread up until sometime tomorrow. Also I'm not sure what type of tourney it should be. Should I just copy Busaiku's swiss bracket formula? Also I don't have any prizes to give so everyone will just be playing for glory. If someone thinks they could do better I'll step aside though.

Nobody had anything bad to say about the Marvel 3 tournament I ran a few months ago. Well, at least with any sort of seriousness at least. :P

If you don't want to do it, then I'll do it. I plan on getting Divekick on PS3 this week.

Found footage of me playing as shoals. Didn't realize the first guy I beat was a sort of big deal. Second dude, from what I'm hearing now, might have worked for Iron Galaxy which kinda sucks to know haha

Mitsuru? lol

I played a kanji user earlier for the gaf tourney. Got grabbed and lose 30-35% hp. Then I played rhas for like 20 games. I only got one game tho others were close. He was just a better player (he played labrys, yosuke, yu)

I just hate the design decisions that went into the game. The vortex options, the whole invul frames lasting forever on certain moves, how dumb some normals are. etc etc.

I did see a "PersonaGAF" as a room. I guess that's where it went down?

But yeah, this game's options are mad retarded. It's so retarded I can't block for shit in Marvel 2/3, yet I'm blocking all these godlike Narukami mix-ups with my homie right now. Haha

Who do you use, by the way?

I feel kind of lame backing out like this already but since you already have experience I think I'd be more comfortable with you doing it. I dont see how it could be that hard to run an online tourney but I would like everyone to have the smoothest experience possible. If you somehow need help with anything feel free to contact me.

You could ask Shouta for a tag for grand prize. 8-)

Too bad the main problem is the platform the tournament would be held on. :<

Naw the p4a gaf thing is setup in a swiss format or something. Every 3 days I play somebody different for 4 games. .

I honestly think blocking in marvel is easier because you can upback and pushblock.

Fucking yu, mitsuru, aigis, chie. (Broken record). Just a lot of bad gameplay design. Like why does kanji neutral suck so much ass that he is forced to play high risk/reward random? Fucker grabs me once and I lose 35+% health. I honestly don't think P4A(2) will fix the core issues. They are just bandaid-ing a lot of stuff. "O yu/chie oki game to strong? Ok we'll just force it so that you can't sweep into XYZ".

All I want in that game is just a god damn reversal that can't be counter reversal. Just literally a "GTFO" me beside burst.

Shit if I can't get that can I atleast get yukikos 5C doing "Chip" damage.

The only thing I'm concerned with is everyone who is interested in the tournament actually owning the game. I'll run an XBL and PSN tournament at the same time like I did with Marvel.
