Already reported on the previous thread, but figured more people might need to see this.

We recently had a teaser clip (seen bellow, gif by a fellow GAF member Hero of Legend) of a potentially new Pokémon game, apparently for Wii U. Considering the Fighting-type elements in the image (Blaziken, Lucario, Fighting type symbol) as well as the whole setup of the image, many people suspected we may be talking about a Fighting game. Siliconera recently checked on trademarks and found out that 'Pokkén Fighters' and 'Pokkén Tournament' have been filed by The Pokémon Company in the US.

Sounds like a play on Pokémon, Tekken, and [Tekken Tag] Tournament -- we might be talking about Namco here (which is especially interesting, as they are also in Sakurai's team for Smash Bros. 4).

Thoughts?

Edit/Note:
Interesting note, Pokkén has been found in the Japanese trademark database as well

ポッ拳

It was registered in 2012 by one of the usual Pokémon registrars, but was published in March
For comparison, Tekken is also written in Kanji (鉄拳) rather than kana (テッケン) in official media.

Edit/Update:
Kotaku has contacted TPC regarding the teaser clip.
So here's the official word from The Pokemon Company on that mysterious Pokemon image that seemed to tease a Wii U game: "There is nothing to announce at this time. These are merely conceptual images."

Oh, this wasn't even a viable consideration for me. Yes, do it.

Edit: Let me give fools the whop with Primeape. OH, this could be toooo good. Wii-U killer app, a fucking Pokemon Fighter?

A Pokemon fighting game would be pretty rad, no question. If it's made by the Tekken team as the name might suggest, it could turn out to be pretty amazing even. I'd definitely prefer it over some lame Stadium-like game, even though a Wii U Pokemon RPG would obviously be still the preferred choice.

Oh please based Pokemon Company, please make a Pokemon fighting game.

But Pokken? What is that supposed to mean?

I think its a Tekken Pun, it will probably be named differently in the states. Or that will be used as a subtitle.

Please Pokemans Company. Would buy and go to tournaments and get whipped by chris G.

Though I was personally sold on the idea of a Metropolis-based RPG for Wii U, I find this very interesting. Tech-wise, it appears to be splendid and the theming is fantastic (they chose the "real world" rather than the Pokémon-only world as the setting). It will hopefully be mechanically closer to traditional fighters like Tekken and Street Fighter, which also makes it a notable alternative to Smash Bros., which admittedly already offers Pokémon fighting.

People on Bulbagarden have suggested the game (and anime) canon P-1 Grand Prix as one of the game's references. It would be lovely if this tied and worked with the game world directly. I wonder if this Celadon City.

Glorious name! lol

Soul Pokalibur!
Dead or Pokalive!
Street Pokafighter!

Anyway, talking about the game, I think it will be a good idea to have a Pokemon fighting game.

Fighting types only, needs to be kept pure.

Edit: *Fighting game will really let them push the Wii-U, as that gif indicates anyway. This game could be a showcase for the box.

Now obviously not every Pokémon will be included if true, but I'd love to see some non-fighting Pokémon too.
Again, holy shit if true. This could be truly a megaton.
